Aesthetical Approach to a Copybook

Dissertation called "Coppybook from the designer's point of view" follows some basic questions related to educational books for writing. Primarily it concentrates to a way of coppybooks approval - if the main stakeholder / decision maker is didactic, designer or editor. Author opens a question if the visual form could be changed. Tries to create a new design together with kids, suggests new illustrators and designers, compares domestic coppybooks with foreign onces, for example from Germany, Norway or USA. Last but not least author questions also other pedagogues, if they discuss the art funcionality of coppybooks and share an negative feeling of it. Learning Primary Literacy of Children with Specific Language Impairment

This thesis solves deals with special pedagogical problems of primary literacy acquisition of the children with specific language impairment. The aim is to analyze the phenomena, which disrupt the process of acquiring written language forms of the pupils with this diagnosis and to record factors, which help to streamline this process. Another task is to propose the steps to help overcome the problems caused by impaired communication skills by teaching analytic-synthetic method. The theoretical part is the basis for meeting the targets. It describes specific language impairment as one of the categories of impaired communication skills and its consequences for education. Attention is given to the topic of literacy. Emphasis is particularly given on the initial reading literacy. This period is seen in the context of the speech development and the psycholinguistic concept of literacy is introduced, where the skill of phonemic awareness has a central position. At the end of the theoretical part, the methods of teaching of reading are described. Reading comprehension of pupils in the second grade of elementary school

The aim of this thesis is to assess the reading comprehension of pupils in the second grade of elementary school. This work focuses on possible existence of differences in reading comprehension of children taught using analytic-synthetic and genetic method. The content of this thesis is also a reading self-evaluation of these students. The theoretical part acquaints readers with the main topics related to the issue, with the help of available literature sources. It focuses particularly on issues of literacy, reading, reading comprehension, reading teaching methods, self-evaluation of reading, reader environment or reading diagnostics. Due to the research goals, for the practical part, quantitative methodology was used. The test battery includes two tests of reading comprehension and self-assessment questionnaire. Examination "We're going on a trip" is taken from a research project Reading comprehension- typical development and its risk. Other used methods are test "Hedgehog" and "Questionnaire reading for pupils in second year". Development of the reading literacy of children with mild mental disabilities

The theme of this diploma thesis is the development of literacy of pupils with mild intellectual disability. This thesis is divided into 5 parts. The key words such as literacy, reading literacy, pupil with a mild intellectual disability and schooling of pupils with mild intellectual disability, are described in the first four parts. Chapter number five is the empirical part of the thesis. The aim of this thesis is to find out the level of the reading literacy of pupils with mild intellectual disability at the school for mentally retarded children. A handbook supporting the development of the reading literacy for pupils with mild intellectual disability has been written based on this result. Methods of quantitative research have been used to obtain the final results. One of the research instruments was also a nonofficial test of reading literacy that has for its purpose to determine the level of the reading literacy of mildly mentally disabled pupils. Pre reading and Early Literacy of Children with Hearing Handicaps

This bachelor thesis focuses on prereading and early literacy in children with hearing impairments. There are two parts, firstly a theortical part and secondly a practical part. The theoretical part provides definitions of literacy and looks at different approaches by various authors. This generally focuses on reading literacy, prereading and early literacy, and issues of children's reading. Next are outlined factors affecting prereading and early literacy, and early reading skills in children with hearing disabilities. The following chapter examines literacy and how it relates to the Curriculum Framework for Preschool Education. The Final section of the theoretical part is devoted to testing prereading and early literacy in both the Czech Republic and the international environment, not only for pupils with hearing disabilities, but also hearing pupils. The practical part is devoted to investigating research into prereading and the early literacy of children with hearing impairment in nursery schools for the deaf in the Czech Republic; focusing on their final year before entering elementary school. Development of the reading literacy in the primary school across the subjects

In my thesis is focused on the development of the reading literacy to primary school across the curriculum. The aim of my thesis is to explore the possibilities of development of the reading literacy in all school subjects and across them and identify or solve the obstacles in the process. In the individual chapters of the theoretical part it defines the key terms literacy, reading literacy, school subjects and reading. I am trying to present reading literacy as a means to understand the various relationships between the general phenomena and as an input to various educational fields. It presents here the different methods specific to the development of the reading literacy. In the practical part deals with the development of the reading literacy across the curriculum and across them. The focus is mainly on subjects czech language and literature, mathematics, man and his world, art and music. The practical part consists of two parts. TITLE: Developing handwriting in a multicultural environment AUTHOR: Jana Kolafová DEPARTMENT: Primary Education Department SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Jan Voda, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: This thesis aimed to determine early development of handwriting in multicultural environment. The theoretical part investigates Czech and English writing systems, school scripts, curricular documents, instructional methods and identifies today's trends in developing handwriting in language comparison. In addition, it provides conceptual models of bilingual learning, specific linguistic features of both languages as well as their role in biliteracy and its acquiring. The main purpose of the empirical part was to answer the question: How do students acquire handwriting in Czech and English language when attending bilingual school. 2-year-long research was based on collecting handwritten works of first graders and their later qualitative analysis. The findings revealed how to connect and support two different methodology worlds of early handwriting and defined problems the students face when acquiring handwriting bilingually. Reading literacy of primary school children : educational programmes influence

The thesis on the theme "Reading literacy of primary school children: educational programmes influence" is focused on reading literacy, its development and influence of the educational programmes. First chapter is devoted to theoretical analysis of reading literacy. Next chapter discusses about resources and options of reading literacy development and also about the role of parents, libraries and schools in this process. Third chapter deals with the topic of alternative education and methods of teaching reading. Fourth chapter describes the research of the educational programmes influence on reading literacy. Final chapter is focused on cooperation of library and schools in the town of Kladno, analyzes the shortcomings and brings in the possibilities of development.
Functional literacy among adolescents

Diploma thesis "Functional literacy among adolescents" discusses the components of functional literacy. The theoretical part of the thesis briefly introduces the development of functional literacy. It shows the functional literacy, and how its properties affect the individual. It describes each specialization components of functional literacy and represents social views in defined areas of the company (community). It also states components of functional literacy, describes their active participation in the field of functional literacy and the effect on the overall formation. It focuses on the potential negative impacts of these components. In the research, part of the thesis presents the conclusions of the survey.
Occurence of dyslexia among Czech prison inmates

The study focused on the occurrence of dyslexia among the convicted in the Czech Republic. On the ground of plentiful research results from various countries that refer to a connection between dyslexia and criminality, a research was conducted in Czech penitentiary environment (specifically the Horní Slavkov prison). The research sample comprised of 113 respondents aged 22 - 65 in the first round of data collection. All respondents met the research criteria: Czech citizenship, Czech nationality and Czech as a mother tongue. The data were collected via the Raven's standard progressive matrixes, personal questionnaire, interview, assessment battery including tests on specific learning disabilities among adolescents and adults and a rapid naming test. The research results have proven a several times higher occurrence of dyslexia among the sample population than in common population, which is 34 % dyslexic individuals in the sample. The research results are comparable to research results from abroad. On top of that, up to 84 % of the respondents spontaneously demonstrated dyslexic difficulties during the interview.
