Diagnostics of Lexical-semantic Level of Language for Pre-school Age Children and for Children with Specific Language Impairment
Malechová, Veronika ; Šturma, Jaroslav (referee) ; Šporclová, Veronika (referee)
This thesis examines the diagnostics of the speech development of pre-school children with the main focus on the lexical- semantic language plan and moreover, it compares the intact speech development to the impaired speech development among children who suffer from specific language impairment (SLI). The work conducts a survey of the diagnostic possibilities regarding the field of lexis and semantics among pre-school children, introduces the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test method and evaluates its possible adaptation into the Czech language environment. There are two main parts of the thesis: the theoretical and the empirical one. The first mentioned presents the most important theories and personalities in the field of speech development and acquisition, the ways of lexicon, vocabulary and semantics assessment methods both in the Czech Republic and abroad and specific language impairment as such. The second, empirical, part verifies the possibility of using the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test method in the Czech language environment. The quantitative research was applied and in each of its stages the data from 411 tested people were obtained. The Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test was modified to fit into the Czech language and it was subsequently presented to pre-school children. The main features and...
Which way to language: to the theme of language with Martin Heidegger
Hustáková, Vendula ; Novák, Aleš (advisor) ; Benyovszky, Ladislav (referee)
This thesis deals with the issue of language in order to reach at least halfway through - to the word as word and the crucial role of reading. Therefore I deliberately begin with seemingly unrelated topics such as science, art and technology. This should clear the way to the tongue to be showed at the end that the language is not only in the actual speaking, but primarily lie in such call, which is reading.
Ladislav Hejdánek's conceptual thought in the context of Husserl's phenomenology
Tollar, Václav ; Chotaš, Jiří (advisor) ; Němec, Václav (referee) ; Urban, Petr (referee)
This thesis deals with the notion of conceptual thought as developed by the Czech philosopher, Ladislav Hejdánek, within the referential framework of Husserl's phenomenology. The aim of the thesis is to thoroughly reconstruct the points of departure and basic motifs of Hejdánek's concept, since the reflection of conceptual thought is one of the milestones of Hejdánek's critical thinking, which has not yet been systematically worked out by Hejdánek or anyone else. Hejdánek is interpreted here mainly in the context of Husserl's noematic theory of meaning, enabling us to view Hejdánek through the predicates of a philosophical mainstream as well as to explore some of the problematic points of Husserl's thought processes that are not usually noticed and which have been approached creatively by Hejdánek from an unexpected perspective. The first two chapters present a preliminary overview of Husserl's philosophy (from his Göttingen period in particular), drawing on in-depth research into Husserl's manuscripts carried out by Petr Urban. This overview is followed by four chapters that interpret Hejdánek's concept and finish with a summary, applying the concept of conceptual thought to the world of knowledge and placing the notion of conceptuality within Hejdánek's thought. The individual chapters discuss...
Speech and Characters in Sir Walter Scott's Waverley and The Heart of Mid-Lothian
Krýsová, Anna ; Procházka, Martin (advisor) ; Clark, Colin Steele (referee)
in English The following bachelor thesis is primarily an analysis of two works of Sir Walter Scott: Waverley and The Heart of Mid-Lothian in the light of the theory of Mikhail M. Bakhtin with a marginal consideration of the poetry of Robert Burns. The aim was to find out what is the nature of the use of direct speech in both novels and how does it help to promote the aim with which the books were written. The respective aims of both books affect the nature of the use of direct speech: because its aim is to portray the consequences of the Jacobite rebellion of 1745 in a positive light, Waverley is therefore to a large extent single-voiced. The Heart of Mid-Lothian is on the other hand mostly double-voiced because it is focused on showing all the different social groups of Edinburgh. The use of heteroglossia also allows the author to show a historically important event from many different perspectives and it enables to bridge the differences between regions, cultures, languages and different time periods. Such an approach also helps to overcome stereotypes and prejudices.
Perceptual sensitivity to music and speech stimuli in the frequency and temporal domains
Lukeš, David ; Volín, Jan (advisor) ; Skarnitzl, Radek (referee)
The subject of this thesis is perceptual sensitivity with respect to subtle frequency-based and temporal manipulations in speech, music and mixed stimuli. We hypothesize that an individual's sensitivity to variation in all three types of stimuli should be similar (i.e. a correlation should exist), seeing that findings in evolutionary biology, neurosciences, psy- chology and experimental phonetics are pointing towards a relatively strong link between the mechanisms of perception in speech and music. Our listening experiment revealed mostly intermediate correlations; additionally, we argue that by employing syntactically less complicated stimuli, which would target specifically fundamental sensitivity without requiring a complex syntactic analysis in parallel, even more robust correlations could be obtained. While the influence of prior formal linguistic education on performance in the test was negligible, the influence of musical experience was considerable, which lends further support to the idea of simplifying especially the music stimuli in future research. Key words: music, speech, perception, sensitivity, correlation
People suffering from communication disorders in general practitioner's office
Trčková, Květa ; Klenková, Jiřina (advisor) ; Šiška, Jan (referee)
Thesis title: People suffering from communication disorders in general practitioner's office Author: Mgr. Květa Trčková Department: The Department of Special Education Subject: Special Education Supervisor: Doc. PaedDr. Jiřina Klenková, Ph.D. The thesis focuses on the problematics of communication disorders and in what way general practitioners encounter it in their office, especially with specific number of their patients considering their age, sex, and active speech/language pathology care. The thesis is divided into theoretical and research part. The theoretical part describes characteristics of communication disorders which are encountered by a general practitioner on a daily basis. More attention is given to aphasia, as there is a subsequent qualitative research. The research part is divided into a quantitative research that verifies set hypotheses, and a qualitative research which shows the communication disorder from a more specific point of view by using five different case interpretations. The research file included 1054 patients who came in the general practitioners office during 22 months, usually repeatedly. There have been four hypotheses set for verification. The research based on these four hypotheses allowed us to conclude in this: Hypothesis H 1: At least every tenth person coming...
A critical introduction to the relation between philosophy and education as a phenomenon in postmodern times
Petrescu, Armand ; Hogenová, Anna (advisor) ; Blažková, Miloslava (referee)
A critical introduction to the relation between philosophy and education as a phenomenon in postmodern times. We can perceive it as three separate units. The boundaries between them are historical rather than thematic. In the first unit we livelily pursue Plato. In the second unit we discover Patočka's thoughts on philosophy and education. And in the last one we immerse in thematically similar mooded work of Hogenová. During our journey we gradually, but very delicately, discover the common presence of these three philosophers in one philosophical tradition. Our task is to gradually discover this tradition, to grasp it, but above all to experience it and at the end decide, if we will join it or refuse it as unnecessary. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
