Searching for the meaning of beauty in relation to truth and freedom on the grounds of art and pedagogy
Klimešová, Petra ; Hůla, Zdenek (advisor) ; Hogenová, Anna (referee) ; Prázný, Aleš (referee)
In the research called Searching for the meaning of beauty in relation to truth and freedom on the grounds of art and pedagogy, I deal with the topic of how beauty is perceived in art education and contemporary art. Specifically, I focus on the question of what is the experience of artists and educators with the perception of beauty? At the same time, I study Hegel's Aesthetics, in which Hegel describes art and beauty as a tool through which we discover / uncover ourselves and approach the absolute spirit. This uncovering or unhiddeness is also a term for truth (alétheia), which is a key element of Jan Patočka's and Anna Hogen's philosophy. In his philosophical work, Patočka and subsequently Hogen strive to return to her original source through self-knowledge (gnothi seauton), and by this idea all work is inspired as a search for meaning. The work is divided into three areas. The first part deals with the theoretical introduction to the whole research issue. The concept of beauty itself, the problem of objectivity and subjectivity of knowledge, the aesthetic basis of contemporary art and also Hegel's concept of aesthetics and the issue of perception. The second part reflects the statements of individual respondents. In response to the testimony, ten areas were created that relate in some way to...

Mužíková, Emmy ; Velíšek, Martin (advisor) ; Hůla, Zdenek (referee)
The thema of my thesis is Nature versus City. The terms nature and the city are presented as separate and connected terms in the theoretical part, which is the focus of the thesis. The relationship between nature and cities is presented like inconsistent and also like consistent. The aim of the theoretical part is to answer questions about whether nature in towns is important to their inhabitants and why. The thema nature versus the city is connected with fine arts, concrete examples of artists and their works. Among other things, I deal with the concepts of ecology and the environment across the work. Jana Kerhartová Play, playfulness and humour in the practice of the Art Gallery H Abstract This thesis presents activities of an unofficial private art gallery which operated in Kostelec nad Černými lesy in the 1980s. The research for the paper combined the oral history method, work with visual and textual archives and (visual) semiotic analysis. The aim of the research was to describe the activities of The Art Gallery H and to verify the possibilities of didactic transformation of some chosen aspects into visual arts education. The data, especially interviews with witnesses, historical documents, artworks and school lessons have the character of utterances in the poststructuralist context. Memories of the time and the alternative community viewed through the lens of today bring us important information about the present as well. Clandestine culture arisen in the totalitarian regime brings a new perspective into issues such as freedom, focus of our activities, relation to the establishment, ethics. The main concept that interconnects the whole thesis is the relation between humour, play and art creation. This motive is also important for the context of visual arts education. The outputs of the research were presented in the book Humour and Play in The Art Gallery H and at the exhibition of the same name...
Gesture. Significance of an object in grey zone of public space
Sedlák, Michal ; Hůla, Zdenek (advisor) ; Hazuková, Helena (referee) ; Hlaváček, Ludvík (referee)
The dissertation thesis deals with the relation of a person towards the physical public space from the point of view of an artist/teacher in the academic milieu. The frequently discussed subject of public space is not limited to purely artistic sphere or artistic gesture. It also implies a simple transgression to everyday life related to education and cultivation. An essential part of the research is the case study at the Department of Art Education of the Faculty of Education of the Charles University, which inquires into the perception of the future pedagogues of the physical public space and how they gtranslate it into the art language. The cornerstone stimulus for the research lies in the premise that future teachers will, through the prism of their view of the worl and by their vocation influence the education of the young generation. This fact of transgression is given by the existence of the subject of Art Education where the 3D design itself plays a certain role. The research is focused on what lies behind the phenomena in the process of the creation and inception of "something new" in the physical public space. The concept of a gesture represents a metaphor of material introduction into a space that, at some point, becomes a part o it .The integration is called actualization and the issue of the...
