Personal, Professional and Social Qualities of a Project Manager

The MA thesis is divided to two basic parts. First of them is dealing with personal, social and professional knowledge of a project manager and the second one is mapping the education of soft skills at Czech universities where the subject of study "Information Studies and Librarianship" is taught. The theoretical part is devoted to project management. The attention is devoted to basic terms from project management's area, it represents the most well-known project methodologies, it defines particular roles of a project manager and most importantly the part is dealing with particular competences, which should be commanded by a project manager. The last chapter of theoretical part is devoted to an analysis of the three most well-known project methodologies. The practical part is mapping the situation at universities - namely which subjects they offer within the education of soft skills and how the teachers are working with the subject. Other activities of universities within the education and the development of soft skills are also given. Further the examples of subjects with the same topic taught at American universities are listed. In the end of thesis the recommendation how to improve the quality of teaching soft skill at Czech universities are given. And also which topics could be put among optional...

Using new teaching methods and educational strategies to support reading and reading literacy at the primary school.

This thesis deals with the use of innovative teaching methods and instructional strategies to support and develop literacy at the first grade of primary school. The theoretical part describes the changes in education related to curricular reform, also the change the objectives and the content of education towards the formation and development of key competencies, to prepare students for real life. This paper introduces the concept of contemporary Czech language and literature, its inclusion in the National Curriculum for Basic Education. The theoretical part focuses on the concept of literacy, reading literacy defined criteria. It also discusses the methods of critical thinking, which contribute to the development of reading skills. It also describes the course "Promoting literacy", which the author of the thesis completed in 2011. Research section presents action research, where the author verifies the theoretical knowledge of new specific methods and instructional strategies to promote literacy in practice. Research validates the effectiveness of innovative methods in terms of the development of key competencies for learning in terms of reading literacy criteria. Competence profile of headteachers and their in-service training

The thesis deals with the issues of headteachers' vocational competences and their needs for in-service training. The issue is assessed with regard to school degree and a phase of headmaster's career. The thesis is based on the need to clearly define what knowledge, abilities and attitudes should headteachers have to be able to manage the school successfully. This is also one of the conditions for creating a meaningful career system in schooling and a basis for a systematic further vocational development of headteachers. The thesis suggests a generic top performance profile of headteachers of all school degrees and a structure of their in-service training which corresponds to necessary competence. As a result, this should lead to an improvement of vocational training of headteachers and subsequently to higher quality of schools they manage.
Cooperative learning and the Results of Pupils

The aim of this theoretical-empirical thesis was to examine the principles of cooperative teaching while working on business letters within the lessons of Commercial-legal Correspondence at secondary school. The main objective of the research was to compare student's results - students' marking in two groups of students following the different types of educational methods: cooperation and non-cooperation. Bachelor thesis The Teaching Profession in the Changing Context of the Current School wants to contribute to a better understanding of the process of professionalization of teaching with emphasis on the key role of professional standard, which significantly defines the nearest state of development, both professionals and the profession, in social, economic and strategic terms. On the example of the UK I would like to show the potential risks associated with the adoption of the standard. Examines selected projects, which can significantly affect the development of the teaching profession in the Czech Republic. The last part of this thesis investigates the opinions of teachers in selected parts of a professional standard of teacher quality (Rámec profesních kvalit učitele).
Reading Comprehension of Non-native Czech Language Speakers

(in English) This thesis discusses the methodology of teaching reading comprehension and using text in the process of teaching Czech for foreigners. It is aimed at developing an approach to teaching reading skills in language classes on the basis of contemporary literature on the subject and in offering structured exercises for utililizing this approach. The theoretical section of this thesis offers a complex analysis of the topic, approaches to evaluating text and developing reading competence in the process of teaching. The practical chapter Cvičení a aktivity (Exercises and Activities) illustrates, through example exercises and activities, how to teach particular aspects of reading competence on the basis of types of reading and reading strategies described in the theoretical and methodological framework of the thesis.
Changes of the Literacy Concept

This paper treats changes of the literacy concept. It presents five most important conceptual frameworks, such as literacy rate, functional literacy, Freirean framework, New literacy studies and literacies of information. Literacy can be defined as the ability to read and write, as a set of basic skills or as competencies. Because of OECD's influence, the functional literacy concept is the most powerful one. Literacy involves a continuum and is oriented mostly towards economical outputs. Influence of OECD is supported by the international surveys IALS, ALL, PIAAC, PISA and LAMP. The surveys TIMSS and PIRLS organized by IEA are influential as well. This paper summarizes the most important critical reviews to the OECD's methodology and to the interpretation of the results. It also comments current activities of OECD, UNESCO and European union. Based on the socio- cultural framework, it brings in several recommendations how states and organizations could approach literacy and its assessment. The paper relies on the documents of UNESCO, OECD, IEA, the World Bank, the European union and on the published works of foreign and local experts.
Motivation for continuing education and factors affecting participation in continuing education

The aim of this bachelor thesis "Motivation for continuing education and factors affecting participation in continuing education" is to analyze what motivates adults to participate in continuing education and what are main obstacles in adult education. The paper consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with an overview of basic knowledge about the issue with the use of literature, both domestic and foreign authors. The second, practical part contains a description of own empirical survey. The aim of the survey is to identify the main reasons for adults to participate in continuing education and detect the most common barriers, obstacles to such participation. The survey is trying to confirm the conclusions from the theoretical part by the analysis of the select company. Competencies of deputy director of kindergarden

The bachelor thesis deals with problems of transfer competencies by the kindergarten director to deputy director. This area fundamentally differs in every school and it is dependent on the capacity of the number of children in the school or on the ability of the director competencies to delegate in the different extent but even on the assumption of the deputy director to fulfill these transferred competencies. The transfer of authority and participations for the school management by the deputy director should be in an everyday part of the life in the kindergarten. In the introductory are basically defined management functions and more detailed views are focused on competencies in the generally concept and their delegation. The middle part is concentrated on competencies as an essentials element in the kindergarten management. The last part of thesis is a questionnaire survey and an overview of recommended competencies to delegate the kindergarten deputy director, in the conclusion is a list of used literature and appendices of the bachelor thesis.
