Competence profile of headteachers and their in-service training

The thesis deals with the issues of headteachers' vocational competences and their needs for in-service training. The issue is assessed with regard to school degree and a phase of headmaster's career. The thesis is based on the need to clearly define what knowledge, abilities and attitudes should headteachers have to be able to manage the school successfully. This is also one of the conditions for creating a meaningful career system in schooling and a basis for a systematic further vocational development of headteachers. The thesis suggests a generic top performance profile of headteachers of all school degrees and a structure of their in-service training which corresponds to necessary competence. As a result, this should lead to an improvement of vocational training of headteachers and subsequently to higher quality of schools they manage.
Career system of teachers in the Slovak Republic

The aim of this thesis is to assess the contribution of the career system of Slovak teachers from the perspective of school principals. The theoretical part deals with the definition of the career system based on a literature research. Firstly, preconditions of the career system are defined. Secondly, the career system is described in detail, followed by its evaluation and comparison with the upcoming Czech career system. The practical part describes the used qualitative methods and approaches and includes findings from the field research. A multiple conn-Dove study was used to solve the research problem, in which the case is represented by ten principals from various schools. Semi-structured interviews with school principals, observing their interactions and document analysis were used for data collection. The result of the research was to create ten idiographic reports reflecting school principals' practical experience with the career system. Findings show significant dissatisfaction among school principals with the conception and implementation of the career system due to the administrative complexity of the system, its formalism, the lack of resources in the system and the lack of provided methodological support to school principals. Career workload challenges of selected principals

The thesis Vocational Workload of Headmasters at Randomly Selected Primary Schools deals with the structure of headmasters` vocational activities at fully organized public primary schools. In its theoretical part the thesis concerns with the institution of headteacher from the legislation`s perspective, further it describes individual occupational roles of a headmaster - a leader, a manager and a practitioner. The main aim of the theoretical part is to map the structure of headmasters` vocational activities and match them with individual occupational roles held by a headmaster. The empirical part focuses on investigation based on the data gained from half-structured interviews that we held with individual headmasters of randomly selected fully organized public primary schools in Prague 8. Analyzing the interviews, we were detecting the structure of the headmasters` vocational activities: Which vocational activities match with particular occupational roles of a headmaster, if the roles are equally divided and whether the workload of the headmasters is appropriate in its amount. Parents' Preference Criterias in Kindergarten Choice

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find parents' preference criterias in kindergarten choice. These criterias will be monitored in two groups of kindergartens. On the one hand, they are kindergartens from the marginal part of Prague, specifically from Prague 11, where they are located partly in the construction of family houses, partly in a panel housing estate. On the other hand, they are kindergartens from the center of Prague, specifically from Prague 2, which are in the old part of Nové Město. The aim of this bachelor thesis is therefore not only the parents' preference criterias when they are choosing a kindergarten to find but also to compare these criterias in the given groups of schools. In the theoretical part, the thesis first deals with marketing, school management, and public relations. Schools may have difficulty to attract pupils and, in the absence of pupils, the school's financial resources are limited. A school that wants to enforce in a competitive environment will have to choose a strategy based on marketing approach. School culture and school management

The topic of this bachelor thesis is culture of school and school management. Goals of this thesis is an analysis of school culture in kindergarten environment, identification of its signs, description of its behaviour and comparsion between opinions of kindergarten teachers and parents. This thesis is split into two parts. The theoretical part is a research of available sources on this topic and it is focused on school culture, its sections, functions, management a comunication. At the end of the thesis I compare opinions of kindergarten teachers and parents, whose children attend at their respective kindergarten. The output is a description of differences between teachers and parents in their opinions and potentional causes of these differences. The method of this research is a survey, which had been sent over the internet to a certain selected people. This survey is focused on facts , how parents and teachers appreciate their school (kindergarten), how they rate it in terms of inovations, relationships between education subjects, propagation and presentation, visual look of the school (kindergarten), the array of available hobby groups and activies for children and parents and so on. The Definition of community school concept in the Czech educational system

This dissertation is designed as a theoretical research study, whose aim is to explore the possibilities of mapping and development of the community aspect of schools. This field of study is still relatively unexplored. The goal of this dissertation is to outline theoretically the concept of a Community school, and to stress the change of paradigm of current education and focus on how the role of school changes in current society. The dissertation also focuses on theoretical aspects of school perception and current scientific knowledge in given area. The research focuses on the analysis and characteristics of the Community school model. Further goal of the empirical research was to determine whether there is a reliable instrument to help identify the type and quality of a given Community school, identify a basic typological distribution of Community schools in the Czech Republic, identify how individual concepts of Community schools differ in the content and delivery of their curricula, and how are principles of Community schools interconnected with the principles of inclusive education, and in particular with the provision of equal opportunities.
