Teachers at the Start of Their Career

This dissertation, entitled "The Issues of the Beginning Teacher," discusses the beginning teacher and the types of professional support provided to beginning teachers by a selected elementary school. The theoretical part defines the basic terms such as teacher, beginning teacher, accompanying teacher, introducing teacher, professional standard of teaching profession, paired teaching and mentoring. The practical part deals with the interpretation of the data obtained by the in-depth interview method. I used thematic analysis, specifically the open coding method, to analyse the data. The aim of the research investigation was to find out what specific types of professional support the selected primary school provides to beginning teachers and whether this support, from the teachers' perspective, is sufficient for them. The results of the data analysis show that the selected primary school provides a very professionally supportive environment for beginning teachers and that beginning teachers rate it as more than sufficient.

Views of secondary school students on ideal teacher

The thesis entitled "The Ideal Teacher from the Perspective of Secondary School Students" is divided into two parts - a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part is divided into eight chapters. The first chapter focuses on the personality of the teacher. It describes some typologies of teacher's personality, different stages of the teaching profession, selected factors that influence teacher's personality. The second chapter focuses on interaction and communication in teaching. Within this chapter, the author also discusses teacher authority and classroom climate. The other chapters of the thesis focus on the role of the teacher, the workload associated with the profession, and the topic of professional competence and teacher professionalism. The last chapter of the theoretical part of the thesis departs from the teacher to the pupils. In the case of the surveyed respondents, these are pupils in the period of adolescence. In the second, empirical part, the thesis summarises the findings of qualitative research conducted among secondary school pupils in the form of semi-structured interviews. Montessori methods of education and their application in teaching science

The theoretical part of the diploma thesis focuses on the importance of nature in the pedagogy of Marie Montessori. It points out the importance of using appropriate selected tools and the application of teaching techniques of Marie Montessori. It also focuses on the secondary education reform plan and provides examples of activities for students aged 12 to 18. In the practical part the tool inspired by Montessori pedagogy called Stromové pexeso was created. The tool is used for identifying tree species. The tool offers many ways how to use it. The methodology of working with the tool was verified in practice at the 2nd level of primary school and vocational school. The purpose was to find out the practical use of the tool and whether its using can affect the better memorization of the subject matter. The most students appreciated the use of the tool and it was discovered that playing with toll has a positive effect on memorizing the subject matter.
