Classroom's climate in alternative and traditional school

The climate of the class in a conventional and in an alternative basic school is the main topic of this master thesis. The master thesis is divided into two parts, the first part is theoretical and the second one practical. It the theoretical part the main focus is dedicated to an explanation of the terms concerning the theme. The thesis deals with the methods of diagnostics in a class climate. The second part, the practical one, consists of the research held in the school classes of the conventional and alternative type. The research is considered to be a quantitative analysis and its research instrument is a questionnaire. The practical part is intended as a comparison between the climate in the both types of schools. The main goal of the master thesis is firstly to compare school climate in the alternative and conventional school. Secondly the master thesis should interpret the discovered information.
Child in the beginning of school attendance

Anotation The Diploma thesis deals with the transition of a child from nursery school to primary school. The important factor deciding on the entrance to primary school is school maturity and school preparedness. The theoretic part deals with these themes., The theoretic part further describes the characteristics of a preschool child, its entrance to primary school and school attendance postponement. The practical part investigates the whole process of primary school enrollment. It finds out how school mature or immature children are. The basic methods of the research investigation are the orientation Test of School Maturity (Jirásek), observation, casuistical methods of preschool children and conversation with chosen children.
Czech Language Teaching at Scioschools - a Case Study

This thesis focuses on the teaching of the Czech language at scioschools. The theoretical basis of Czech language didactics and the problematicsof alternative education are discussed in the first part, while the second part characterizes the individual scioschools in terms of their general concept and teaching of Czech language. The thesis is fomulated as a case study and is methodologically based on observation, interviews and document analysis. Its aim is to provide a partial insight into the practice of Czech language teaching at scioschools and to answer how and with what goal is Czech language taught. It analyses whether some innovative methods and forms of work reflecting the current topics of Czech language didactics are applied and whether is there are any unifying concepts of Czech language teaching. While this work provides insight into these issues it concludes that scioschools aim to lead the students to so-called study autonomy. Scioschools do not work with a unified concept of teaching. It find that the current Czech language teaching practice - forms of teaching, application of innovative methods or aims are heavily influenced by the personality, knowledge and experiences of the teacher - tutor. Specifics of teaching physical education in a composite class in elementary school

The thesis is following up on general characteristics of a composite classes schools in Czech Republic. The goal of the thesis is to find out, whether the physical education on composite classes schools has different specifics, due to its current lack of spacial requirements for physical education. This problematic is examined in the investigatory part of the thesis, where the results are sought with structured interviews and surveys. The outcome of said surveys is, that the spacial and material conditions for physical education on composite classes school are not a hindrance to fulfil the School educational program in physical education and are not reflected on the quality of education.
Approaches to Biology Teaching in Alternative Upper Secondary Schools

This master's thesis is concerned with biology teaching in alternative schools providing upper secondary education in the Czech Republic. Its aim is to describe and compare the teaching of biology at selected alternative secondary schools based on three case studies. The selected schools are Gymnázium Na Zatlance with alternative programme ALT, Gymnázium Přírodní škola and Waldorfské lyceum Praha. The chosen strategy of the performed qualitative research was a cross-case study, data were obtained by direct observation of the lessons, individual interviews with teachers, group interviews with pupils and document analysis. The concept of biology teaching in selected schools is elaborately analysed, including the description of specific lessons. In addition, the ideological basis, the organisation and evaluation in each school is analysed too. Comparison of selected schools identified common characteristic features such as emphasis on personal development of pupils, non-traditional teaching organisation, evaluation without school grades, frequent excursions, respecting approach towards pupils and deviation from systematics in biology teaching.
