Montessori pedagogy in the Czech education

The thesis processes the use of Montessori pedagogy in the Czech environment. The introductory chapters of this thesis describe the life and work of Marie Montessori, the fundamental anthropological thoughts and principles, and the development of Montessori approach. The thesis maps out by descriptive method the current institutions and primary schools which operates in the Czech environment. The following chapters contain case studies of two Montessori primary schools in Prague. The results of this thesis show that the approach of Marie Montessori is not just a rigid conception, but that it is still capable of development in the living process in school practice.
Development of metacognitive strategies for primary school pupils in the Montessori environment

In my final thesis I have dealt with the development of metacognitive strategies for primary school pupils in the Montessori environment. The aim of the first part of the thesis was to anchor the entire issue in the broader context of the current educational situation with respect to the requirements of The General educational program. In the second part of the thesis I described both - metacognitive strategies as well as key aspects of Montessori education. This characteristic I based on the analysis of the available literature. The final part of theory deals with the synthesis of both areas. This synthesis showes their harmonious connections and considerable complementarity. In this section I also revealed some problems that educators face in practice, and I tried to outline possible ways to address them - from my own experience of teaching practice. Empiric part of thesis uncovers the ways of introduction metacognitive strategies to education and presents few "examples of good practice.
Methods of presenting mathematics curriculum in 7th grade at a Montessori school

The thesis called The Ways of Presentation of Mathematics in the 7th Grade of Montessori School provides with a description and detailed analysis of Montessori principles with regards to their use and fulfilling tasks during lessons of mathematics at Montessori Schools. Its further aim is to check out in the course of lessons if the three Montessori principles - discovering of facts by an individual, work with mistake and individual approach - are being applied during the presentations of new topics to the 7th grade students of Montessori school. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part deals with establishing of educational areas of mathematics and its application within the "The Framework Education Programme for Elementary Education" and description of current trends in mathematics, didactic constructivism represented by Hejný and Kuřina. Further on, it describes Montessori principles and their application and use during the teaching of mathematics and ways of presentation of mathematic topics in Montessori classes. Use of Montessori Pedagogy in a Primary School

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe in detail and analyze the reformatory pedagogy of Maria Mantessori and to compare it with the traditional pedagogy in the areas, in which these two movements differ most significantly. Then this thesis is aimed at describing individual methods of teaching from the point of view of traditional and alternative school, mainly aimed at foreign languages teaching. This comparison is described in order to prove or disprove the main thesis research question, which observes the effectivity of using Montessori teching methods in the context of a traditional school. To reach the relevant answer to the main research question, research methods such as observation and then experiment, based on the observation outcomes, are employed.. Using Montessori learning materials for teaching persons with Down syndrome

This thesis examines how can Montessori teaching aids be used for educating persons with Down syndrome. It describes Down syndrome and mental disability that is associated with it, listing also the options for educating persons with Down syndrome by development stage. It provides an overview of Montessori pedagogics, its history, concepts and principles, and its status in the Czech Republic. It classifies Montessori pedagogics in terms of general didactics theory, and introduces Montessori therapy. The author connects Montessori to other human- centric didactic and pedagogical systems, such as structured teaching, global reading approach, Reuven Feuerstein's Instrumental Enrichment, sensory activation, basal stimulation, and psychobiography. She explains the role of teaching aids in the Montessori system and describes the materials she is using in her lessons for persons with Down syndrome. The aim and structure of such lessons are described, together with how to work with clients and their families. Development of reading literacy in selected alternative educational programs

This Master's thesis examines options to advance reading literacy in schools with alternative education. Thesis is focused on teachers work and used methods. The aim of the thesis was to determine, how schools using alternative educational programs support the reading literacy. Theoretical part explores reading literacy, characteristics of alternative educational programs and schools -Montessori, Waldorf, Dalton and program Step by Step. It specifies RWCT - reading and writing to critical thinking program and method of advancement reading literacy and reading. The practical part evaluates surveys filled by teachers from alternative schools and teachers using alternative educational programs. Survey is focused on teacher's job, utilization of RWCT method in schools, working with reading literacy and support of reading.
Role of teaching assistant at primary school with Montessori program

This bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of the role of teacher assistant in a primary school classroom with Montessori program, focusing on the inclusion of pupils with special educational needs and on the position of a teacher assistant in Montessori learning environment. We defined the education of pupils with special educational needs, including the most frequent diagnoses we encounter during the research. The whole paper is grounded in the legislation of the Czech Republic in the field of primary education. The paper also describes alternative education and its most common varieties and includes the characteristics of the education following Maria Montessori philosophy. This part is dedicated to the principles of the Montessori method, to the role of a Montessori teacher, to the characteristics of the classroom environment as well as to the teaching organisation, including teaching forms and methods. The implementation of montessori education elements into the education of the children with autism spectrum disorders in the preparatory form of the special elementary school

The goal of the diploma work is to demonstrate the possibilities of montessori education elements implementation into the education of the children with autism spectrum disorders in the preparatory form of the special elementary school. This is performed on the basis of the theoretical knowledge gained by the specific material study and by using the methods of the inspiring practice. The theoretical part has three chapters. It deals with the subject of the persons with mental disorder and is mainly focused on the children with the autism spectrum disorders. It describes the autism spectrum disorders, their etiology, diagnosis and the intervention options for people with the autism spectrum disorders. Art Activities in Montessori Kindergarten

The bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of using art education in preschool education based on the principles of Maria Montessori pedagogy. The theoretical part presents the Montessori pedagogy method. It deals with the important principles of the alternative streams of educational system, it observes its features and the educational areas and clarifies the concepts of art education in Montessori schools. The next part of the thesis focuses on the usage of art education in preschool education and observes its streams and forms. It deals with the reflective, creative, and experiential form of education, which is applied when creating the art activities. The practical part of the thesis presents a case study describing the function of art education in a selected Montessori kindergarten. Several art activities were realized, using the inspiration from the artefiletic concept of art education. It focuses on self-reflection of one's own art project and it defines particular educational issues as well as its tools how to manage them.
