Nudity in Czech art in 1990s with overolap to the 21st century
Yordanova, Viktoriya ; Pech, Milan (advisor) ; Bendová, Eva (referee)
Anotation The diploma thesis attempts to introduce the subject of the naked body in the 1990's Czech art, thus in the era of the postrevolutionary freedom. In the rapidly transforming society, after the fall of the communism and the disolution of the Eastern Bloc, the body became a crucial tool for artists expression. Local art reflected Western initiatives not only in the art field, but also, in the wider visual culture (porn magazines, erotical TV shows, advertisment etc.). It attempts to represent the authors and their work in which the artists reacted to these initiatives.

The subject of the thesis is the digitisation of the Football Club magazine, which has been published as a quarterly magazine since 2017 and a web version that was launched in 2022. The digitisation process of the magazine is examined from 2017 to October 2023. The first area is the transformation of content in the wake of digitisation. The second area is the transformation of the financing of the project. The third area is the impact of digitisation on internal processes within the editorial office. In order to achieve the objectives described above, three semi-structured interviews were conducted with key employees of Football Club magazine and its publisher NextPage Media. Furthermore, the thesis is based on publicly available information and internal data provided to the author by the publishing house NextPage Media for the purpose of writing the thesis. The thesis uses the case study research method. The thesis concludes that the key tools of the magazine's digitisation included, beyond the launch of the website, the expansion of the project's communication channels, the production of new types of content...
Marketing in online gaming environment aimed at children
Hnátková, Petra ; Rosenfeldová, Jana (advisor) ; Houdek, Petr (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of marketing aimed at children in the online gaming environment, specifically on the children's perception and understanding of it. The theoretical part defines the concept of marketing aimed at children and deals with the associated legislation. It then examines marketing in the online gaming environment, its development and its form in two selected cases, i.e. within the Roblox gaming platform and in the Fortnite game. Subsequently, the thesis examines children's perceptions of marketing based on previous research and the critical perspective of experts on marketing in the online gaming environment aimed at children. The research part of the thesis investigates the perceptions and understandings of marketing to children in Roblox and Fortnite by children aged 8-17. The results of the quantitative questionnaire survey show that only two-fifths of children understand the marketing purpose of brands within games. However, this ability improves with age. At the same time, a possible correlation was found between understanding of the marketing purpose and two other factors: time spent with the games and interest in making purchases in both of the games.

Open Call
Gajdošík, Andreas ; Rathouský, Luděk (referee) ; Sterec, Pavel (advisor)
In diploma thesis Open Call I focus on unequal position of artists in current art world in which, despite the transparent practices like open calls, still persists the cult of name, the power of networking and personal recommendation. This topic I artistically process in form of practical artistic intervention, which is close to the tactics of 1:1 scale of Arte Útil - specifically by creation of software tool called Nomin. Its purpose is to support weakened or marginalized groups of artists. Nomin uses properties of email protocol SMTP to allow its users-spectators to send fake self-recommending emails - from email addresses of famous curators to the inboxes various galleries or other art institutions. During development of program Nomin and its technical background (software documentation, web page etc.) I followed the paradigm of free, libre, open source software (FLOSS) and also the methodology of agile software development in order to provide in this gesamtsoftwerk the users-spectators with fully functional, user-friendly software and give them possibility to influence further development of Nomin or directly participate on it. Created artwork is thus not a single artefact but rather a set of interconnected objects and practices grounded in the network of social bonds and behaviours which balances on the edge of institutional critique, useful art, participatory art and collective performance.
LABORARTORY BRNO
Pospíšil, Tomáš ; Nový, Vítězslav (referee) ; Ponešová, Barbora (advisor)
The object of the proposal is a gallery of modern and new media art together with a community centre, which serves as a platform for creating projects in borderland between science and art. The form of the two separately standing buildings is significantly influenced by their surroundings. The modern barrier of the street Koliště is enhanced by blind concrete facades of the designed buildings. The unity with Cejl indicates reclusion, rawness and sense of community, especially significant is the parterre which is shaped as two atria with different levels of intimacy. The dominant feature of the project is a superelevated golden cube, which conceals the main space of the gallery. It is situated behind the wall of buildings and it looks down at the city centre, which is possible thanks to its height. The remaining space is located in lower level and it is less opulent, as it stands back to the street on one side and completely opens itself into atriums through glassed-in walls on the other side. The goal of the project was to extract and put into shape specific aspects of the place and to create a user-friendly environment.
The Evolution of the Beauty Ideal Portrayal in the Media for Adolescents since 2005 to the Present
Lůžková, Daniela ; Vochocová, Lenka (advisor) ; Reifová, Irena (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to describe the development of the portrayal of the beauty ideal in the Czech media for teenage audience from 2005 to the present. The theoretical part of the thesis captures the historical transformation of the ideal of beauty and its current meaning for individuals and society, as well as the conclusions of existing studies on the concept of the ideal of beauty in the media, both printed and online. The data source for the analysis were randomly selected copies of magazines for teenagers (Bravo Girl, Dívka, Top Dívky, JJ), as well as YouTube videos and Instagram posts of well-known Czech influencers. Qualitative analysis, specifically grounded theory, is used as a research method. The research showed that in printed media, the concept of the ideal of beauty was narrowly defined and did not allow many exceptions, throughout the whole examined period. Anything outside of this narrow view was framed as a problem to be solved. In new media, the current definition of the standard of beauty has been gradually eroded, among other things, by the body positivity movement. The theme of beauty has diversified, diversity is admitted, and former imperfections are framed as normal manifestations of the human body. The same time, however, the current media content still repeats...
Possibilities of developing digital competencies within the scope of art lessons in basic education
Tihon, Štěpán ; Kitzbergerová, Leonora (advisor) ; Raudenský, Martin (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on the possibilities of developing digital competencies within the scope of art in basic education. In the theoretical part, it focuses on the definition of terminology related to digital forms of art, names the basic principles of new media and focuses on new technologies or phenomena of the digital world, which have a significant influence on the current requirements for the acquisition of these specific competencies. In defining areas of digital competence, the text relies on conceptual models that seek to define a coherent language that unifies terms related to different digital literacies. In the conclusion of the theoretical part, the thesis maps the strategy of the educational policy of the Czech Republic in relation to the implementation of these models in curriculum documents. The resulting outcome is a confrontation of the observed issues with the field of art education and its theoretical starting points. The practical part of the work presents a conceptual analysis of the proposed art education lessons aimed at the systematic development of pupils' digital competences. It is supported by the presentation of my own creative activities, which served as a reflective tool used during the design of the submitted assignments. KEYWORDS Digital competence, digital...
The world of Kitsch and possibilities of Eco`s Semiotics of Mass Communication
Sedláková, Anna ; Borecký, Felix (advisor) ; Švantner, Martin (referee)
This diploma thesis explores the phenomenon of kitsch. One of the aims of the thesis is to address significant theories (H. Broch, M. Kundera, P. Rezek and T. Kulka) and to analyze them further in relation to the central concept of Umberto Eco, which defines kitsch as a communication. According to Eco, kitsch is not to be defined solely by the structural qualities of the work, but also by the intention that the author creates and by the means that the work is later perceived by the audience. The focus of this thesis is to be pointed not on the kitsch as a definition of a certain type of object and its aesthetic evaluation, but rather on the attitudes and interpretations that transform objects and thoughts into kitsch. Another aim of the thesis is to mark a possible shift in conception of kitsch in context of the changes brought by the age of new media - the changes that radically change the ways of communication, and the organization of society, too. Such change proposes the use of kitsch both as an emotional and simplifying approach. Kitsch, in its wider conception, becomes a pervasive and actual phenomenon. In addition to the characteristics of new media, the thesis uses the concept of Cyberculture by Pierre Lévy and the Liquid Times theory of Zygmunt Bauman. In its conclusion, the thesis attempts to...
