Pragmatic aspects of communication with chatbots
Kopecký, Michal ; Krhutová, Milena (oponent) ; Haupt, Jaromír (vedoucí práce)
Chatbots, programs able to communicate with a human, are becoming more and more popular in recent years. But because the artificial intelligence is a very complex scientific branch, it is difficult to create a human-like conversational robot. This paper will provide a brief introduction into the chatbot theory, where and how they are used, and Natural Language Processing technology. Several chatbots will be briefly described and exemplary conversations with them will be shown. The main attention will be paid to the pragmatic issues of conversation with a chatbot, such as observing the Conversational Maxims and Cooperation Principle. The findings will be demonstrated using analyses of dialogues with chatbots in the second part of the thesis.
Laboratory Tasks for Analogue Technology
Pavelka, Ondřej ; Haupt, Jaromír (oponent) ; Langerová, Petra (vedoucí práce)
Subject Analog Technology focuses on basic analogue functional blocks and their usage in modern electronic devices. Theoretical part of a particular topic is taught at lectures and laboratory exercises are used to demonstrate specific examples to strengthen student’s knowledge. This paper contains comprehensive manuals with measuring procedures for all compulsory laboratory tasks, for students, to better understand all topics discussed in the subject Analog Technology. These manuals include theory regarding certain topic, mandatory tasks for students, connection diagrams and in some cases, necessary math equations to calculate outcome values. To verify correctness of a working procedure and for clarity an oscilloscope will be utilized. These manuals also contain tables as attachments, which are prepared to be printed and filled in with calculated values that are the outcome of some laboratory tasks. The main purpose of this thesis is to enhance the level of knowledge of students attending the subject Analog Technology and to improve effectiveness of the work in laboratories.

Jazykové charakteristiky úvodních sekcí v odborných článcích v elektrotechnice
Ondryáš, Radek ; Šťastná, Dagmar (oponent) ; Haupt, Jaromír (vedoucí práce)
In this thesis we use analytical framework proposed by Swales to analyse scientific articles from the field of electrical engineering to examine their structure and linguistic features. Each of the texts is segmented into discourse units called moves, each move represents a portion of text which serves a communicative function. Moves are then sorted according to Swales’ model, analysed and lexical signals are highlighted. If possible, moves are divided into smaller units called steps. Our analysis coincides with Swales’ model in nearly all points, the only exceptions being few steps which do not occur in the texts from electrical engineering since they are not of importance in this field. An alternative point of view on research articles is provided by patterns described by Hoey, which unlike Swales’ framework were designed for texts in general rather than specifically for the genre of research articles. Despite their differences, the analysis presented in this paper shows that there is big overlap between Swales’ framework and Hoey’s patterns.

Macek, Martin ; Haupt, Jaromír (oponent) ; Ellederová, Eva (vedoucí práce)
The purpose of this bachelor’s thesis is to describe and compare information systems of four Czech universities, specifically Brno University of Technology, Masaryk University, Tomas Bata University in Zlín, and the Mendel University of Brno. The thesis focuses on the overall appearance and design of the described information systems, with a focus on organisation, clarity, and navigation between modules and system applications. Besides, the bachelor’s thesis concentrates on particular modules of information systems, especially on schedules, emails and messages, file storages, and learning management systems - these modules are analysed and evaluated by students at the universities in the practical part of the thesis. Moreover, the thesis analyses and describes Google Apps, its security and privacy, and the practical part questions usage of Google Apps in personal and university life. The thesis also discusses and focuses on synchronisation and conversion of information systems to G Suite based on the quantitative research findings.

Urban, Michal ; Haupt, Jaromír (oponent) ; Kotásek, Miroslav (vedoucí práce)
The thesis deals with the history of computers, the spreading of computer technology and its influence on users, which provides basic background to the analysis of topics found in the Processed World magazine. The history of computers is generally described in individual generations, which allows us to imagine in which way the development of computers and technology progressed. Attention is given also to the often-neglected negative aspects of computer technologies that are presented in the magazine. The Processed World magazine, which was founded in 1981 by a group of young people from San Francisco, is based on frustration of office workers who wanted to create a form of entertainment, information and sympathy for people in the same situation. The thesis also deals with the illustrations and their meaning presented in this magazine. By analyzing specific texts, it also provides a certain example of how the articles of the Processed World look like.
