Résumé The thesis deals with addressing in Czech TV programmes such as talk-shows. There are 54 programmes broadcasted in 2012 and 2013 that were analysed. Firstly, the term "addressing" is defined as well as its functions. Secondly, the thesis is focused on various kinds of addressing (direct and indirect addressing in particular), the relationship to vertical social distance and the frequency of honorifics. According to the analysis of selected TV programmes (the programmes are characterized, the results of the analyses are summarized in tables in the Summarizing protocols), it is described how the incidence of individual types of addressing is related to the type of the programme (talk-shows compared to political debates or conventional interviews etc.). The selected way of addressing largely defines the nature of communication used in the programme. In certain programmes the way of addressing is strictly formal (OVM), in other programmes the way of addressing is being "negotiated". The television is an influential media and its communication conventions are transferred to interpersonal communication - especially the growth of informal addressing can be observed regardless of the fact if it is a genuinely informal situation or a communication strategy that is aimed at having a pleasant conversation. This diploma thesis on the "Non-Parliamentary Political Parties in Media Communication Process. Communication Behaviour of Non-Parliamentary Parties in the Czech Republic prior to the Parliamentary Elections of 2006" suggests that political parties wishing to succeed in the dynamically changing media environment today need to present themselves through the refection of contemporary trends in the development of political communication. Based on the hypothesis that the non-parliamentary (i.e. small) political parties fail to master these principles of media and political communication, which is one (but not the single) reason why they fail to reach spectacular results in elections, this diploma thesis investigates four Czech non-parliamentary political parties participating in the parliamentary elections of 2006. The theoretical part of this diploma thesis introduces the current phenomena of political communication, including the mediatisation and personalisation of politics and the concept of politics as entertainment, with a focus on the examples of professionalization of political communication, political marketing and the importance of public opinion. In the practical part of this diploma thesis, the fundamental definitions are used and the method of semiotic analysis applied to the media...

Changes on subcultures under the influence of a marketing communication shown on the example of a hip hop subculture
Kolská, Martina ; Rosenfeldová, Jana (advisor) ; Vranka, Marek (referee)
The thesis is covering the description of a phenomenon, during which are alternative subcultures becoming sources of inspiration for creating new trends and ways of selling. The phenomenon contributes to the process of a transition of subcultures to dominant culture. This is a repetitive phenomenon, which underwent every significant subculture in history, some of them even repeatedly. The market undergoes constant search for new trends or ways to recycle old ones. The most common market sources are subcultures, which include in themselves the trend of brand new lifestyle and also frequently shocking or at least diverse fashion trends. Subcultures, which, as time goes by, fuse with the mass culture, are losing their characteristics, differences and the authenticity. They are becoming commodities, which are in the market with no other contexts, which are provided to them only within the subculture. Hip hop subculture is in currently very popular. It is bringing new communication means, styles and trends for decades. Since the hip hop subculture was born, it developed itself from the underground to the mainstream. Hip hop art and ideology was based on opposing the society and on the human right movement legacy. On the other hand, during last few years, according to some of the critics, it suffers from downing...
Threat perception in the North Atlantic Region: Media Image of Terrorism in the US and Western Europe
Moravčík, Vladimír ; Hornát, Jan (advisor) ; Weiss, Tomáš (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with media frames in selected American and British media with an influence over broader European audience. The subject of the research is the difference in the perception of terrorism in the US and Western Europe. The work specifically examines the contexts in which the terrorist threat was reported in 2001-2005 in The New York Times and The Guardian. The work is based on the works of Mary N. Hampton and Wyn Rees, who claim that in the US the threat of terrorism is seen as an external problem of military nature, while in Western Europe terrorism is seen as an internal criminal problem. This work identifies media frameworks in selected media that match this difference in perception of terrorist threat. The discursive analysis and the application of framing theory are used to identify the media frames.
Leoš Mareš - The Phenomen of Czech Hosting
Adamec, Martin ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Štoll, Martin (referee)
1 Annotation: Leoš Mareš - The Phenomenon of Czech Hosting The diploma thesis deals with one of the most notable personalities of Czech hosting - Leoš Mareš. There has been no relevant work or thesis on the academic (and also non-academic) level so far, so this is the first step in this direction. It is necessary to ask whether it is desirable that the chosen topic would be dealt with at this level. I have come up with a positive answer, for as the most successful hosting personalities (Larry King, Oprah Winfrey, Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Dick Cavett, Johannes B. Kerner) have an important role in society (like personalities from arts or politics) and studying of such phenomenon is completely natural for (at least) foreign theory and practice. In my opinion, every society should have an interest in knowing the distinct individuals who be can influential or enriching. For these reasons, I have decided, with regard to the focus of the study program, to devote the thesis to one of the most significant personalities of Czech hosting. If this thesis would be the basis for future professional or social discussion of selected personality or hosting in general, its purpose will certainly be fulfilled.
