Storytelling in the primary English classroom

This thesis deals with using of storytelling in the primary English classroom. The first part of the thesis is focused on the importance of using stories in teaching English as a foreign language in the primary classroom and the methodology of using the stories. In the research part of the thesis two questionaries were made up. One was given to the primary English teachers and the other one to the children {--} their pupils. The aim of both questionaries was to find out how important for children the stories are, what is their role in teaching English and how they help the children learn it.
RPG as a narrative medium

This bachelor's thesis deals with narrative in video games, specifically in RPGs and its "hybrids". Theoretical part presents selected concepts of game studies and narratology, which are used as a base for a possible method of analysis in the practical part of this paper. This method is demonstrated using four examples to form four short case studies.
School in narratives parents to children

Bachelor thesis "School in narratives parents to children" focuses on an oral family history in relation with the school. The theoretical part summarizes the important role of narratives in human life. It shows the story as a source of important values, history and also the possibility of individual's identity formation by the stories. The interaction between family and school and the influence of the school in shaping the family stories is presented in the theoretical part. The empirical part deals with the research that aims to clarify the reason why parents tell stories about the school to children. The results indicate that in most reference sample families school plays an important role, because it is the source of traditional values and norms. That is the reason why parents talking about it. The school represents a conservative institution, which provides stability and security to the family.

Storytelling and Reconciliation: Shifts in Frames and Discursive Narratives in Listeners of the Initiative "My Story" in Bosnia and Herzegovina Hana Oberpfalzerová Abstract In Bosnia and Herzegovina, two non-governmental organizations have been running the initiative "My Story" within which three war victims, one Bosniak, one Serb and one Croat, tell their wartime stories and their way to reconciliation in public testimonies in a side-by-side, live setting to an audience of young people or ordinary citizens. The aim of the initiative is to promote reconciliation in the listeners. This doctoral dissertation integrates several disparate fields in order to create an analytical framework for inferring attitude shifts from the discursive narratives recalled by the listeners, and from the frames that connect the single narratives to broader societal discourses within these discursive narratives. Three public testimonies were analyzed and interviews with eighteen listeners from the three Bosnian nations were conducted, some of which were interviewed by phone about four months later to check for further attitude changes. Storytelling and it's graphical accompaniment in pre-school age

The presented dokument describes three ways how children work with a fairy tale. First they listen to the story, then they draw it and finally they are being interviewed. The interview has two phases. At the beginning the focus is on the children's drawings, this is followed by the conversation around the illustrations from the story book. The picture is accompanied by a text. This research should find out how will children deal with these three ways of processing the fairy tale. The paper consists of two parts: theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first chapter defines the preschool period in terms of personality development. It focuses on important developmental tasks of that period. The second chapter explores the world of fairy tales. The third chapter aims to introduce the topic of the beginnings of children's communication. The empirical part of the paper describes the research that took part in kindergarten. The aim was to link all three ways how children worked with the fairy tale. Each of these forms has different demand on the child. I am trying to find out and describe possible use of obtained data.
Ekonaratology - story of nature

Ekonarathology Thesis deals with the history, goals and using modern theories of narrative in an interdisciplinary environmental education in pre-school environment. It describes the importance and potentiality narratology as an approach to children's understanding of the outside world and increasing environmental sensitivity. The aim of the research was to verify the narrative paradigm (Fisher, 2000, Bruner 1996) for preschool children and establish a closer relationship between children and nature by creating more authentic stories about nature, which the children themselves invented. The second part focuses on research among teachers in nursery schools. The task was to write books about nature, which in its practical use. From this list, then formed the top ten most popular children's books about nature. The work also offers a list of suitable books for ekonarathology method for preschool children. The result was the finding that children aged 4-6 years will naturally remember more when they hear the information in the form of storytelling, and that they are able to listen to nature and its manifestations.

The method of storytelling and its application in the Civics

This master thesis focuses on topics of narrativity, stories and the art storytelling, while fixing the biggest attention on the storytelling method - as a narratively-dramatical field of arts. The storytelling method stands in the very focal point of this thesis and its potentiality in the field of didactics and education are being examined - concerning specifically the school subject of the Civics. In this master thesis, two chapters have been designed - a philosophical one, and a didactics-concerning one. In the first chapter, narrativity has been analysed as an anthropological and philosophical phenomenon and viewed from the phenomenological perspective. In this part of the master thesis, the essential significance of narrativity, stories and storytelling for the human life, human experience and the capabilities of education have been expressed and emphasized. In the second chapter, the variety of narrative forms has been outlined and the storytelling method has also been introduced. The methodology has been presented and the process of the preparations for a storytelling performance has been described in this part of the master thesis. As a follow-up to this, a possible application of the storytelling mehtod in the education process has been analysed, while focusing specifically on the Civics....

Beadwork is a work that touches on topics such as sexual harassment, rape, abortion, domestic violence, partnerships and family relationships, in general all taboo topics in the family and society, death topics, various hidden traumas in the family and in partnership. Through simple manual work and in the marked space for sharing, the possibility of relaxation opens up. “ To be heard. Just as beads are threaded on a thread, I collect human stories that become part of one (self) therapeutic act. This completes the performance gesture by threading beads in public space, bringing powerful themes from collected stories to light. Transcending myself – myself as an individual, touching everyone who allows themselves to be touched. “
