Pírková, Jana ; Kasíková, Hana (advisor) ; Vincejová, Eva (referee)
The thesis examines the process of implementation of an accredited study program into practice. The theoretical part provides a brief excursion into the history of teacher education, which highlights the difficult journey in search of a suitable model of teacher education. The formation processes of teacher education are characterized by constant changes, which were not always properly thought out. These tendencies unfortunately do continue to the present day. Currently, the Czech education policy is largely influenced by European educational policy, which is aiming at unification. One of the unifying elements is the accreditation process, which should improve the quality of the study programs offered by European universities. Question is whether such standardization process leads to the improvement of teacher education or not, which is discussed in the second part of my theses where. I examined how two university departments implement Accreditation-Commission-approved program of study in practice. Based on the collected data I can state that the accreditation documents give the schools a framework, but the actual implementation depends largely on the strength of the management of the department and modus operandi of the individual members of the department. Interviews with staff departments also...

Contemporary Perspectives of International Organisations on the Concept of Lifelong Learning - A Comparison of UNESCO and OECD
Moss, Linda ; Kopecký, Martin (advisor) ; Frič, Pavol (referee)
This diploma thesis presents the concept of lifelong learning as an ambitious political project born in the field of international organisations at the beginning of the 1970s which now reaches far beyond the borders of national states and education policy. The sphere of education still remains the responsibility of national governments, however, even here strong globalising tendencies have occurred since the 1990s, as a result of which the national policy is more and more being influenced by supranational institutions. Although the concept of lifelong learning now serves as a common framework, it has been interpreted differently during its evolution and a consensus on what it exactly means and how it should be put into practice still does not exist. Based on analysis of key documents, this thesis aims to compare the view of lifelong learning held by the international organisation UNESCO with that of OECD, as two distinctive perspectives on this issue. The comparison draws on Rubenson's model (2004), which examines lifelong learning through three key categories representing the main actors of social life - the state, the market and civil society. As this topic has not been widely explored in the Czech Republic, this thesis aims to present a complete overview, including a critical assessment of both...
Expert knowledge of polical parties in field of education policy
Stanzel, Jiří ; Novotný, Vilém (advisor) ; Mouralová, Magdalena (referee)
Political parties are no more simply mediators between the civic society and state. It is also expected, that they are capable to product such solutions, that are based on expert knowledge and could be applied responsibly. The educational policy is one of the traditional parts of public policy, which requires complex and long-term solutions. The sources of expertise of political parties play a key role in form of knowledge and information required for such responsible decisions. Many remits same as financing of primary and secondary education were delegated from state control to regional administration due to administrational reform. The increase of power assumes expansion of expertise of political parties on regional level. The paper is focused on sources of expert knowledge of political parties (ČSSD, KSČM, TOP 09) in Prague. It describes mechanisms of generating expert knowledge for educational policy, mostly the character and nature of work of regional expert commissions. Who are the members of these commissions? What is their source of being experts? What kinds of information they work with? How is their work applied in a practice? These are the main questions of this study.
Welfare state in developing countries: Case study of Botswana, Ghana and India
Šanc, Filip ; Novotný, Josef (advisor) ; Matoušek, Roman (referee)
This diploma thesis explores the emergence of the welfare state in developing countries, in particular shown on the example of Botswana, Ghana and India. The inquiry is focused on the period beginning in 1990, when the neoliberal paradigm was dominating, untill 2010. The recent years are in token of the shift from the neoliberalism to the post-neoliberalism characterized by a number of concepts, which are taking into account. The common feature of these concepts is the diversion from the narrow focus on GDP, as the only indicator of the growth, to the social dimension of the development. This shift is also being distinguished as a transition from the basic-needs concept to the rights-based approach. Therefore, the thesis explores, if these shifts are remarkable in the analyzed countries, eventually, if there are any divergences as compared to the theoretical concepts. To achieve this goal, a broader analysis of the welfare state was used, which involves social, health and education policy. Based on this analysis, the diploma thesis tries to classify the analyzed countries into the welfare state typology; eventually, in case such classification is impossible, it describes the weaknesses of this welfare state the typology.
