Employment of people with autism spectrum disorders

The bachelor thesis deals with adult people with Autism Spectrum Disorders, especially Asperger's Syndrome and High Functioning Autism, in connection with their employment in the Czech Republic. The goal of this thesis is to find out the labour opportunities and the support for these people. The thesis consists of a theoretical part and a case study. Introductory chapter describes Autism in general and defines all of Autism Spectrum Disorders. The second chapter is already focused on adults and the problems they face and which often set apart the current society. The third section includes the possibilities of employment for people with autism, supported employment services, the legislative framework of people with disabilities and last the benefits which employment of persons with autism provides. Case study in the end of the thesis concerns a man with autism who used supported employment services and found a job that suits him. PaedDr. Jiřina Klenková, Ph.D. Abstract The present thesis deals with the issue of development of communication for the children with autistic spectrum disorders. The paper and the research project particularly aim to analyse a development of communication for the children with autistic spectrum disorders from the view of clinical speech-language pathology. To carry out the research, five hypotheses were suggested. The hypotheses relate to clients with an ASD, to what extent specialists are informed about the issue, number of children with definite diagnostic category, interdisciplinary co-operation and use of alternative and augmentative communication. The research itself is realised in two ways - the quantitative one (questionnaires distributed to clinical speech-language pathologists) and the qualitative one which focuses on the evaluation of speech-language intervention for clients with ASD in the consulting room of clinical speech-language pathologists. Ways to support parents of children with developmental difficulties

This thesis focuses on supporting children with autism spectrum disorder. It covers stress associated with raising a child with autism and methods to deal with it. It also covers internal and extrenal factors which can assist parents deal and cope with having a child with autism. This thesis contends that giving birth to an autistic child can be a trauma, raising the possibility of post-traumatic growth. The second part of the thesis is a research project in the form of action research. The research will focus on creating practices designed to support parent groups, in which elements of art therapy and psychotherapeutic body work will be used. Parents attitude to integration of children with special needs to common schools focused on integration of children with autism

Instututional education of preschool children is based on individual attitude of the educators at nursery schools. Education of children with special needs is for that reason just siutable at nursery schools where these children can be naturally developed in the group of the same-age children and also the attitudes and values to the dissimilarity of another children are developed alongside. The theoretical part first of all deals with the qestion of the preschool education. Than it concentrates on child with special needs, its family and education. The next specific part describes Autism Spectrum Disorders in detail and the supporting educational aspects of children with autism. The last part deals with the integration problems of children with special needs. The practical part presents the results in sphere attitudes of preschools children's parents to the individual integration of children to common nursery schools and also presents one of the successful examples of individual integration of the child with autism to the common nursery school.

Social status of the integrated student with Asperger syndrome in the class

The goal of this diploma thesis is to map the issue of social integration of students with Asperger syndrome into a regular class of elementary school. The theoretical part is based on analysis of publications related to the topic. It deals with the description of the Asperger syndrome diagnosis and its symptoms, the concept of integration, mainly the integration of a student with Asperger syndrome, and the issue of classroom climate and the possibilities of its diagnostics and development. The practical part is based on the theoretical part. In it, the author focuses on the analysis of social status of integrated students with Asperger syndrome. Sociometrical techniques are combined with projective method and both are supplemented with a questionnaire for teachers and qualitative methods, primarily interviews with teachers and observation in class. Benefits and risks of Homesharing in the care for children with autism spectrum disorder

This diploma thesis on the topic Benefits and risks of home sharing in the care of children with autism spectrum disorders is focused on children with autism spectrum disorders, their families and especially on the new home sharing service. This is a form of relaxation stay, which regularly takes place in the household of the so-called host. The work is divided into two parts. The first chapter of the theoretical part summarizes the existing historical facts from the description of autism spectrum disorders by Leo Kanner and Hans Aspergerm. It also presents current knowledge in the field of aetiology, diagnostics and classification options. The third chapter is devoted to a family and a child with ASD. The last chapter of the theoretical part presents shared care home sharing. It describes its beginnings in Ireland and its gradual expansion to other countries around the world, including the Czech Republic. The course of pairing and individual phases, without which this service cannot get along, is also described in more detail. The practical part is based on qualitative research. The original intention of the author was to map the experience with the benefits and risks of the home sharing service directly in the primary and host families. The Experience of Teachers with a Pupil with Asperger's Syndrome in Primary School

The diploma thesis follows the bachelor thesis "School and Counselling Trajectory of a Child with Asperger's Syndrome", where the experience of children with this diagnosis and their parents with school attendance was described. This time it is viewed from the perspective of primary school teachers who have experience with a pupil with Asperger's syndrome. For data collecting a semi-structured interviews about Asperger's syndrome were used and a qualitative method was chosen. Based on the analysis of the results, the following areas were found: "how it all started", what it means to have a pupil with Asperger's syndrome in the classroom, conflicts, what helps, experiencing inclusion of a child with Asperger's syndrome by his class teacher, "…so one wonders, if it's worth it". The results most often included the individuality of the child and the lack of time and space on the part of teachers in meeting the individual needs of included children, the importance of support from the teaching assistant and also the importance of cooperation with the child's family. The work also includes the theoretical definition of the inclusion of pupils with Asperger's syndrome into regular primary school.
