The use of Natural Materials in Primary School Education

The theme of this diploma thesis is Natural materials in the subject of Craft at primary school (at the first level of the elementary village school). The aims and tasks of the diploma thesis are defined in the introduction. The theoretical part is devoted to concepts, goals and output competences in technical and environmental education at the first level. It deals with the description of well-known and lesser-known nature materials and the characteristics of various natural techniques when working with natural materials. The description of the elementary school in the village of Malonty is the integral part of the theoretical text. In the practical part, ten didactic themes for working with natural materials are proposed. Some of them were realized in practice and their effectiveness was verified through questionnaires for children.
Suggestions for Teaching the Topic Water at Lower-secondary School

The work deals with current trends in the didactics of the educational field of Man and Nature, especially project-based teaching and the integration of science subjects. The goal of the thesis is to design and evaluate teaching that is devoted to the topic of Water in various thematic areas of the cross-cutting topic of Environmental Education, using different teaching methods. The evaluation takes place on the basis of reflections from pupils and other pedagogues and, in addition to suggestions for methods, forms and organization of teaching, monitors the fulfillment of cognitive and affective goals. The results show that the educational goals were fulfilled with the help of this lesson. At the end, specific proposals are formulated for improving and streamlining the entire teaching.
Teaching about Invertebrates at the Second Grade of Elementary School: a Case Study

The main aim of the study was to find out how specific teachers teach invertebrate zoology at the 2nd grade of selected primary schools. The first part of the thesis is devoted to anchoring the invertebrate curriculum in the Framework Curriculum for Primary Education and selected methods and forms of teaching with motivational character (mainly outdoor education, experiential pedagogy, research-oriented teaching, excursions, and didactic games). A substantial part of the work is also devoted to cross-cutting themes, specifically environmental education about teaching invertebrates. The practical part of the thesis focuses on the analysis of teaching strategies and attitudes in teaching invertebrate zoology to specific teachers. Using a questionnaire survey and by comparing the results obtained, problematic points of teaching invertebrates were identified: the laa number of representatives, the (need for) reduction of the curriculum related to invertebrate anatomy, the interconnection of schools with environmental centers' use of live representatives in teaching. Development of pre-school children by environmental education

The diploma thesis deals with environmental education as a teacher'stool for the development of preschool children in Prague in both usual and unexpected conditions (during the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic). The theoretical part of the thesis informs of the content, means and some principles of environmental education. The importance of children's direct contact with nature is verified here and the information of possibilities and limits of a child's development through environmental education in all areas definied by legislation is presented. In the practical part, a research investigation is constructed, in which three methods of qualitative investigative research were used, namely teacher action research, a semi- structured interview and an example of inspirational practice. A lower success rate of children from one of the two classes in the environmental activities was found. Addressed teachers showed knowledge of the importance of environmental education and direct contact with nature, as well as attention to the conceptual framework. It turned out that, according to the majority of interviewed teachers, the conditions for the implementation of environmental education during the covid-19 pandemic were restricted, especially in the impossibility of children being present in kindergarten....

A series of art tasks is designed for the Centre for preschool children, established by the Children and Youth Centre in Prague. The common denominator designed creative tasks is to use scrap materials, especially plastics, and paper and textiles. The theoretical basis of this work is ecological, environmental and global education in the context of RVP PV and RVP ZV.
Vermicomposter as Teaching Aid in Environmental Education

In my bachelor thesis, I deal with a phenomenon which, in recent years, has become known among the general public - vermicomposting. This thesis is oriented to didactic application. It is aimed at verifying the possibility of creating and operating a vermicomposts at school environment and examining the possibilities of its usage in teaching to fulfil the objectives of Environmental Education. The main goal was to find out whether the vermicompost can serve as a full-fledged teaching aid both frontal education and project method of teaching. I have prepared several illustrative projects for this method. The location and operation of vermicomposts at school environment raises a number of other aspects that I have also mentioned. The course of the project implementation and usage of vermicomposts in the classroom is devoted to the practical part of my work. In the theoretical part, I try to approach the areas of dealing with the topic of biodegradable waste, the phenomenon of composting (with the emphasis on vermicomposting), Environmental Education and the status of learning aids and teaching methods. The realization of the project Vermicomposting at school was allowed at the place of my work - Santoška Primary School Prague 5. Lessons of Handicrafts, Biology and Chemistry were suitable for it....
Influence of enviroment to art creation

It is analyzing differencies in the understanding of the environmental art term, and its historical bases. The comparison show the problematic issue of the czech prehension of the environmental art term. Didactic section presents a project of the mountain leasure time centre focused on the ecological education through the art activities in the nature.
Influence of the natural environment on the development of motor and cognitive abilities of preschool age.

This work deals with the effect the natural environment on the development of motor and cognitive abilities of preschool age. The aim is to determine the effect of education in the natural environment to the level of motor skills and knowledge of preschool children. The theoretical part describes the characteristics of preschool age. Acquaints with the development of motor skills and their training in the natural environment. It also deals with the cognitive component of the preschool child's personality and the possibilities of its development in the countryside. Zooms problems of education in a forest environment, types of learnin and methods of training in the various components of the child's personality just in a forest. The practical part is a qualitative research method used is a questionnaire survey among kindergarten teachers to determine the most commonly used educational environment, the method standardized test for 4-6-year old children to determine the level of motor skills of the children, and the method of diagnostic interview, which examined the effect of natural environments on children's knowledge. Results in agreement with reported literature confirm the positive influence of education in the natural environment for the development of several components of the child's personality.
Practical use of Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science Charles University in Prague for Education of Lower Grades of Primary School

The theme of this diploma thesis is Practical use of the Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague for Education of Lower Grades of Primary Schools. The main purpose is to chart current status of a theme of botanical garden in curricular documents, namely The Framework Educational Programme for Basic Education and School Educational Programmes of chosen elementary schools located in Prague 2. Further, the presence of this theme is explored in the sample of schoolbooks for the 4th and the 5th grades of elementary schools. There is a questionnaire survey realized among teachers of the 4th and the 5th grades in the schools listed above. The aim is to find out, how much the Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague is used for practical education. The results are shown in charts and graphs. The readiness of this botanical garden for practical education of lower grades pupils is found out by an interview with its vice-director. The next part of thesis contains planning and realizing a lesson with the 5th grade pupils. The lesson demonstrates a possibility of more frequent practical education in the botanical garden.
