TV-debate - argumentation and persuasion: Václav Moravec questioning's case study

The diploma thesis presents own research method for examination of speech formations. It focuses on examination of televised political debates. The method applied here may be characterized as an organized hermeneutic analysis of political discourse. Through the application of an analytical - philosophical approach (e.g. application of the theory of maxima, illocutionary acts evaluation, and analysis of arguments and verification of their truthfulness), the method allows us to establish objective facts of the debate as well as some personal features of debate participants. To examine texts, the theoretical knowledge of distinguished authors (J. J. Austin, K. Bayer, T. A. van Dijk, N. Fairclough, H. P. Grice, J. Habermas, J. Kraus, G. N. Leeche, J. R. Searl, and others) have been made use of. In addition to the literary survey, the thesis also includes the argumentation in respect of selection of the method, selection of talk shows, transcript of debates from TV records, transformation of the text into an analysable form, and research methodology. Regionality in public-service television of selected 'European countries - comparative study

This diploma thesis focuses on history, position and activities of public service television broadcasters in selected European regions: South Moravia, Eastern Jutland, Andalusia and Scotland. In its theoretical section, we address the issue of the changing role of public service media in the era of technological convergence and new emerging opportunities in the environment of social media and other digital platforms. We also discuss the importance of regional television stations, studios and editorial offices from the viewpoint of both broadcasters and the citizens of particular regions. The empirical section consists of a comparative study focusing on the activities of Czech Television's studio in Brno, DR's production center in the Danish city of Aarhus, a regional station called TV2 Østjylland, RTVE's territorial center in Andalusia, a regional broadcaster RTVA and, last but not least, BBC Scotland. Based on interviews with key public service television managers in all four countries, we have mapped regional activities of these broadcasters from a number of perspectives: local and historical context; legislative and regulatory requirements; organizational and financial framework; broadcast content and interactive communication with the audience. Drama as a part of television program

The topic of this thesis is theater drama as a part of television program. This diploma thesis tries to define unique and specific relationship between two different media - Theater and Television. The main aim of this thesis is mapping and analyzing of the position which theatrical drama, and the theater in general, had and has within a program of television. The next aim of the thesis is reviewing of role of theatre on the beginning of television broadcasting and mapping changes and evolution of meanings, within which theatre drama was presented in television. Primarily, the thesis focuses on a broadcasting of two televisions - the Czechoslovak Television and subsequently the Czech Television. The television broadcasting is influenced by many factors. And same as the medium of television, the presentation of theatre drama in Tv is influenced by these factors as well. The theoretical background and the research should show the contemporary position of theatre, and theatre drama, as a part of television program.
APPLICATION OF NONLINEAR EDITING METHODS IN TELEVISION NEWSCAST

This work studies the influence that non-linear editing of visual materials and usage of digital news production system have on the final form of news programmes. I also compare these advanced technologies with the older linear editing and analog playout, illustrate it by describing the principles of both methods and explain it on a hypothetical example. Two chapters are devoted to the integration of digital archives and graphics tools. The examined period used for comparison of new and old technologies is the week from 2 to 8 April in 2010 and the same week a decade earlier. The news programme examined is Udalosti on Czech television. The aim is to point out how the technical possibilities can change the workflow and form of newscast, not just in theory but also practically.
Legal regulation of the product placement a its utilization by the czech television

The main aspects of this thesis is the analysis of the legal regulation of the product placement and its utilization by the Czech television. Czech law comes from the Directive 2007/65/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, therefore several chapters are dedicated to secondary law of the European Union. The last part of this thesis includes few ideas about the law de lege ferenda. The second part of this thesis consists of the application of the product placement by the Czech television and there is a comparative analysis with selected television shows from around the world. The comparison is made with the similar shows in regards to their format and style. The result is a recommendation how to apply product placement in the future and kind of mistakes could be prevented.
The analysis of medialisation of cathastrophe on the example of explosion of building in Divadelní ulice.

The subject of this thesis is the analyslis of medialisation of catastrophe. For this purpose is used the method of complex semiotic analysis, that is performed on the explosion of house No. 5 in Divadelní ulice in Prague on 29 May 2013. The thesis includes introduction into context. Theoretical background of chosen method is not omitted. In the thesis is explained the applicaton of semiotic analysis to the selected problem. The main and secondary research questions are defined and the five areas, to which the research is emphasised, are determined. There are semiotic analysis of fragments of main news programs of a public TV channel (Česká televize) and three private TV channels (FTV Prima, TV Nova, TV Barrandov) in the seven - day reference period in the research part of thesis. The meanings of symbols in the specified areas, located in fragments of broadcasts about the explosion in the heart of Prague, are interpreted in this part of thesis. Researches public service television viewer in the Czech republic with a focus on news channel ČT24

This master thesis focuses on the typology of researches that public service broadcaster Czech television uses to analyse audience feedback - measurement of ratings, contentment and public service. The thesis describes history of TV audience researches from beginnings to the present in Czechoslovakia and the Czech republic as well as abroad. It also mentions problems that the aspiration for perfection of measurement brings. This thesis also addresses the functioning of Czech TV's Research and analysis department and brings original research focused on the influence of survey results over the scheduling of ČT24 programme. The thesis further includes interviews with Renata Týmová, chief of Research and analysis department, and Zdeněk Šámal, manager of news and sports department.
Development of media coverage of Floorball in the Czech Television

Title: Development of media coverage of Floorball in the Czech Television Objectives: The main objective of this work is to determine the evolution of media coverage of Floorball in the Czech Television, in more detail in 2008 - 2011 on the sports channel of Czech Television, CT4. Another objective is to determine how perceive the media coverage in top clubs in the Czech floorball competitions for men - Fortuna Extraleague. Methods: In this work was used the method of quantitative content analysis and a method of inquiry. The method of quantitative content analysis was applied in the analysis of the television program of the Czech Television from 2008 until 2011. The method of inquiry was used to determine the perception of media coverage in the clubs Fortuna Extraleague. Results: The space dedicated to floorball on the channel CT4 has in the past three years tend to grow slowly. The media coverage of floorball is distinctly affected by significant events. Most are presented Fortuna Extraleague. Clubs Fortuna Extraleague feel increased interest of Czech Television of floorball but the media presentation of their teams are not satisfied with and positive influence of media coverage for generation sponsors are not perceive. Jiří Chalupa and his fairytale world in Czechoslovak and Czech Television

The diploma thesis depicts the personality of Jiří Chalupa and his fairytale work in Czechoslovak and Czech Television. It presents a brief biography of this representative of children's television production and explores his personal style. In addition to the analysis of eight Chalupa's fairy tales, this thesis deals with television fairy tales in general, their transformation and significance. The first part of the study summarizes the theory of the fairy tale from a literary point of view. This is followed by a historical excursion to Czechoslovak and Czech Television with an emphasis on political influence. In a separate chapter, it focuses on television work for children, its representatives, changes and importance. In the next section, attention is shifted to the film and television adapting of fairy tales. The second half of the work is devoted to the life and work of Jiří Chalupa and the analysis of TV fairy tales, made according to his screenplays.
Public Broadcasting Television in the Czech Republic

1 The thesis Public Broadcasting in the Czech Republic focuses on Czech Television and its broadcasting which should fulfill special tasks of public service. It is divided into two main parts - theoretical and analytical. The theoretical one starts with a description of evolution of Czechoslovak television and continues with establishment of dual system of broadcasting and formation of Czech television. Then the thesis deals with public service broadcasting, its significance, potential criticism and above all its definition in the laws. The definition of public service tasks is used for the analysis in the analytical part of the thesis. In its beginning author laid down some hypotheses. For the purpose of verification of their compliance the thesis continues with the analysis of broadcasting schedule which shows differences as well as similarities between the public and the commercial broadcasting media. Last part of the bachelor thesis is dedicated to the analysis of selected programs in terms of the public service tasks defined by appropriate laws and documents. On these selected programs author tries to show the specifics and meaning of the public service broadcasting for the society.
