Use of Montessori Pedagogy in a Primary School

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe in detail and analyze the reformatory pedagogy of Maria Mantessori and to compare it with the traditional pedagogy in the areas, in which these two movements differ most significantly. Then this thesis is aimed at describing individual methods of teaching from the point of view of traditional and alternative school, mainly aimed at foreign languages teaching. This comparison is described in order to prove or disprove the main thesis research question, which observes the effectivity of using Montessori teching methods in the context of a traditional school. To reach the relevant answer to the main research question, research methods such as observation and then experiment, based on the observation outcomes, are employed.. Christian appreciation of Montessori and Waldorf pedagogy

Work in the six chapters first formulates thesis of the need to address the problem of loss of quality of teaching of the Catholic religion. This is then given to the second chapter, which carefully considers its history. After a brief third chapter which collectively will talk about alternative education speak collectively alternative education is included in this current analytical processing analysis Montessori and Waldorf education. It analysis processes the history of the founders of both pedagogies and the relation to the didactic triangle educator - curriculum - student. The sixth chapter is a synthesis of findings and draw conclusions about the relationship of spirituality to Christianity and usability of teaching methods. Development of metacognitive strategies for primary school pupils in the Montessori environment

In my final thesis I have dealt with the development of metacognitive strategies for primary school pupils in the Montessori environment. The aim of the first part of the thesis was to anchor the entire issue in the broader context of the current educational situation with respect to the requirements of The General educational program. In the second part of the thesis I described both - metacognitive strategies as well as key aspects of Montessori education. This characteristic I based on the analysis of the available literature. The final part of theory deals with the synthesis of both areas. This synthesis showes their harmonious connections and considerable complementarity. In this section I also revealed some problems that educators face in practice, and I tried to outline possible ways to address them - from my own experience of teaching practice. Empiric part of thesis uncovers the ways of introduction metacognitive strategies to education and presents few "examples of good practice.
Methods of presenting mathematics curriculum in 7th grade at a Montessori school

The thesis called The Ways of Presentation of Mathematics in the 7th Grade of Montessori School provides with a description and detailed analysis of Montessori principles with regards to their use and fulfilling tasks during lessons of mathematics at Montessori Schools. Its further aim is to check out in the course of lessons if the three Montessori principles - discovering of facts by an individual, work with mistake and individual approach - are being applied during the presentations of new topics to the 7th grade students of Montessori school. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part deals with establishing of educational areas of mathematics and its application within the "The Framework Education Programme for Elementary Education" and description of current trends in mathematics, didactic constructivism represented by Hejný and Kuřina. Further on, it describes Montessori principles and their application and use during the teaching of mathematics and ways of presentation of mathematic topics in Montessori classes. The end of theoretical part is a comparison of Montessori principles during the mathematic lessons and didactic constructivism. Fine Motor Skills Testing of Children in the Preschool Age Visiting Montessori Kindergarten by the battery test MABC-2

Title of the Bachelor Thesis: Fine Motor Skills Testing of Children in the Preschool Age Visiting Montessori Kindergarten by the Battery Test MABC-2 The Aim of the Thesis: We will measure fine motor skills of children in preschool age visiting Montessori kindergarten. We will compare measured results with children who visit common kindergartens. Method: We used battery test MABC-2 for measuring. We also used data from measuring fine motor skills among children from selection of kindergartens in Prague. This research is done by Mgr. Jakub Kokštejn, Ph.D. and has not been publishet yet. We also used data presented by Mr. Ludvík Valtr. We compared results between children from the Montessori kindergarten and children visiting prague kindergartens- sample one. Then we compared our results with results from the Diploma thesis by Mr. Ludvík Valtr- sample two. Results and Discussion: We found statistically significant result only in measuring of motor skill number one. In first mentioned sample we found better results between children from common kindergartens. In second mentioned sample we found better results between children from the Montessori kindergarten. We can not confirm or disprove the hypothesis where we expected significantly better results between children visiting Montessori kindergarten....
Teaching English at Secondary School Level and its Specifics Considering the Educational Theory of Maria Montessori

This thesis deals with teaching English at Secondary school level considering the educational theory of Maria Montessori. The aim of the thesis is to find out specifics of teaching English. The theoretical part presents Maria Montessori, who is considered to be a founder of Montessori pedagogy, her methods, principles and specifics. In the next part the thesis is focused on the role of the teacher and the pupil in this educational system. Next part is focused on the language teaching and on the acquisition of mother tongue and foreign language. In the conclusion of the theoretical part there is an introduction of General Educational Program of English language. The practical part describes teaching English at the Secondary school level considering the General Educational Program and thus by observing the classes and thanks to conversations with the teacher of English and pupils.
