Sedláčková, Adéla ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Křeček, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with the analysis of Gabriela Koukalová's media portrayal in selected print media in the period January 2017 - June 2019. This period was determined due to changes in Gabriela Koukalová's professional focus, as early 2017 she was a successful biathlete who has many victories from international competitions. She stopped racing in autumn of 2017 and due to the controversial biography she published in 2018, she announced retirement from her biathlon career in 2019. The aim is to find out whether the media image of Gabriela Koukalová at a time when she was a top biathlete differs from the media image that she had when she stopped competing. The theoretical part presents the role of the media in society and the theoretical definition of the construction of the media image. This section also includes mediasport, and media portrayal of biathlon and women in sports. The methodological part of the work describes the chosen analysis methods and the process of data recording. The analytical part of the work is devoted to the interpretation of the obtained results.

This thesis focuses on the way in which the media presented the Czech biathlon team over the period of its greatest success, between 2012 and 2018. In this context, it deals with how often the media presented relationships, mood and cooperation in the team as perfect, helping to create the myth of an ideal team. The aim of the thesis is to answer the research question: How was the myth of an ideal biathlon team constructed by the media, biathlonists and the support team? This question is answered through an analysis of biathlon articles published in the years 2012 - 2018 across four Czech sports diaries, namely iSport.cz, sport.cz, sport.aktualne.cz and sport.iDNES.cz. The analysis uses qualitative content analysis extended by linguistic analysis of discourse. The analysis of the individual articles is based on theoretical background, devoted to the media's representation of reality, media logic, myth, heroism, myth in sport and discourse. The results of the analysis describe the way and means by which the actors helped construct the myth of a perfectly functioning biathlon team. The methods used with examples are given at the end of the thesis.

Tinková, Alexandra ; Svobodová, Ivana (advisor) ; Podzimek, Jan (referee)
The goal of this work is to analyse linguistic features used by biathlon sport commentators on two television channels, ČT sport and Eurosport, further to compare them and try to show a realistic view on the lexical aspect of the Czech sport commentary. The author first focuses on the Czech language theory, then the theory of sport journalism and spoken language. She further selects categories of the most used linguistic features in the biathlon commentary and shortly characterises the sport of biathlon. The findings are then applied during the analysis of a specific commentary on both television channels, where the work focuses mainly on the demonstration and examination of earlier stated most frequent linguistic features. Because of the character of the work, which is comparative analysis, the author in the end focuses on comparison of linguistic aspects on both television channels. She also briefly covers the content and the phonetical aspect of the analysed commentary and the overall impression taken.
