Philosophical possibilities of question of personal identity
Endrle, Jaroslav ; Palkoska, Jan (advisor) ; Hill, James (referee)
(in English): The topic of this thesis is the problem of personal identity. Its aim is to develop alternative approach to this question. To achieve this, the following course is choosen. Firstly, three most important assumptions are exposed. These assumptions steer debate about this topic in analytic philosophy and are regarded as main cause of its difficulties. These suppositions are - the ontological conception of identity, logical dissociability of mind and body and the method of thought experiment. Essential part of following thesis can be taken as proposal of technique that can overcome these assumptions and problems they cause. This attempt begins at the end of first part with development of general criticism of ontological conception of identity and with presentation of epistemic conception of identity. The second and crucial part deals with the theory of conceptual system. This theory provides a basis for alternative approach to question of personal identity. It will block the logical dissociability of criterions of personal identity - the dissociability of mind/consciousness and living body. It will also serve as fundament for epistemic conception of identity. Finaly, it is used for tracing the origin of concept "person". It will be shown that the concept of person descends from the...
An Enquiry Concerning the Phenomenon of Maidan Through the Application of the Hegelian Lordship and Bondage Theory
Dovhoruk, Ivanna ; Karfíková, Lenka (advisor) ; Matějčková, Tereza (referee)
This thesis is concerned with the question how can be the phenomenon of Maidan (Майдан) understood. Maidan here is primarly seen as an event in which people risked their lives. The first chapter deals with eyewitness testimonies of demonstrators in the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity (Революція Гідності), who were present in the directly life-threatening places (Hrushevsky-st, Institutska-st). In the second chapter Hegel's concept of the certification by death (die Bewährung durch den Tod) is inquired, as present in a lordship and bondage theory (Herrschaft und Knechtschaft) in the Phenomenology of Spirit (Phänomenologie des Geistes). In the third chapter, through the presentation of the author's own speculative theory of the Gates, we will try to prove that life can be deployed in two ways, from a position of humility and a position of pride. Within proving this statement we differentiate Hegelian concept of certification by death using Augustine's notion of pride (superbia). At the end of the inquiry we will try to answer the initial quastion, what Maidan is in light of the act of deployment of life.

Music Performance Anxiety and Its Prevention in The Education System
Stevanović, Ena ; Váňová, Hana (advisor) ; Slavíková, Marie (referee) ; Nedělka, Michal (referee)
Music performance anxiety (MPA) is one of the most frequently reported problems among music students and professional musicians. It can potentially cause severe performance impairment and distress. Possible contributing characteristics are low musical self-efficacy, low self-esteem, inadequate preparation and previous performing experiences. The aim of the theoretical part of this study was to explain the phenomenon of MPA from various perspectives and with all its manifestations; to describe its psychological, social and educational contributing factors and to offer an analysis of coping strategies that could be used in the education system. The aim of the research project was to investigate the relationship between MPA, self-esteem and self-efficacy; to examine possible differences in the levels of MPA, self-efficacy and self-esteem between music students studying in three different higher education institutions, and to determine whether such differences could be attributed to their different educational experiences. Surveyed participants were 53 (quantitative study) and 10 (qualitative study) music students studying in the Manhattan School of Music in New York, the Music Academy in Prague and the Music Academy in Zagreb. Research data were collected using both quantitative (Rosenberg Self-Esteem...
The Ground of the World: A Marginal Problem in Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit
Matějčková, Tereza ; Karásek, Jindřich (advisor) ; Gutschmidt, Holger (referee) ; Kuneš, Jan (referee)
Is there a world in G. W. F. Hegel's The Phenomenology of Spirit? This is the central question my doctoral thesis aims to address. Both scholars and philosophers alike tend to consider Hegel a thinker who, having formulated the philosophy of absolute spirit, has surrendered the world. Despite this suspicion, the consciousness finds itself at nearly every level of Hegel's oeuvre in a place called "the world". At every stage, the world changes its shape - along with the consciousness - but its function seems to remain the same. The world is a conception of totality; thus, the world is an object of the consciousness that, by definition, surpasses the consciousness and thus reveals its limits. This moment of a "worldly" estrangement is especially pronounced as the consciousness sets itself into action. One of the most recurring motives in Hegel's The Phenomenology of Spirit is the inability of the consciousness to realize its intentions as planned. The consciousness fails to recognize itself in the deed, and thus devises strategies to distance itself from the deed. In my interpretation, this testifies that the deed is the door to the world, and obviously this world is not one that would be in the power of the consciousness. Instead, it is the consciousness that needs to subordinate itself to the deed...
Selfrecognition, selfawareness and other cognitive functions in cetaceans
Jachnická, Kristýna ; Šimková, Olga (advisor) ; Adamová, Dana (referee)
Self recognition is highly discused topic in cognitive sciences. Experiments on a level of behavioral (mirror test, reference tests of body parts using) show that animals usually are able to realize parts of their own body. There are several experimental evidence among cetaceans of this kind that proved that they are conscious of their own body parts (self awareness). There are also many other complex cognitive skills that can be predisposition to self recognition or that can prove that cetaceans are conscious of they own mind (self consciousness). The Confidence Gap and Its Influence on Women in Leadership
Kudrnáčová, Michaela ; Šanderová, Jadwiga (advisor) ; Voleková, Hana (referee)
Confidence gap a její vliv na participaci žen ve vedoucích pozicích Michaela Kudrnáčová Abstract This thesis is aimed on the gap between male and female confidence and its influence on women in leadership. The paper serves as a summary of the most important current information concerning this topic. The aim is to find the extend of the deficit of women's confidence on participation on women in leadership, and to identify this problem in the Czech context. Depending on the literature and other available empirical findings, women are to a great extend lead to the stereotypical behaviour since their young age. This is highly influenced by the corresponding gender roles and it can result in the deficit in their confidence and also negatively influence the participation in the leadership. Findings of this paper open a societal discussion about the way women are perceived and accepted by the society, and the way to change the situation of working women for the better.
Roots of Existential Phenomenology of Simone de Beauvoir
Štěpánek, Daniel ; Fulka, Josef (advisor) ; Bierhanzl, Jan (referee)
The theme of our work is concentrated on basic sources of inspiration of french thinker, Simone de Beauvoir. As we are trying to show, ways of conceptualization of human existence, that are common to works of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Jean-Paul Sartre, are main focus stones, on which is being build individualization of existential phenomenological thought of Simone de Beauvoir. Therefore, our interpretation is aimed on making visible those themes, that are most important as ilustrations of these interpretations. To achieve this goal we are using She Came to Stay, the first novel of Beauvoir, where we are seeing first manifestations of main themes of her later works.
