Best practices of career guidance in lower secondary schools

This diploma thesis focuses on career guidance in primary and mainly lower secondary schools. The goal of the thesis is to identify and describe the best practices of career guidance from the perspective of a lower secondary school career or educational counsellor, and also from the perspective of the education system. The theoretical part fulfills this goal by describing inspirational approaches to career guidance in selected European countries (Finland, England and France). Using in-depth semi-structured interviews, the research part examines and describes the work of six career guidance facilitators at four lower secondary schools and one upper secondary school, which were purposefully selected as possible examples of best practice. The outcome of the thesis is a detailed insight into the attitudes and approaches to career guidance of the selected respondents, description of 36 unique career guidance activities, and a set of both systemic and specific recommendations for improving the state of career guidance in lower secondary schools. Although the work is focused on lower secondary schools, its outputs are also applicable to upper secondary schools.
Developement of syntax in written Czech at the pupils of lower secondary education

This dissertation thesis focuses on the topic of the development of syntax of written Czech at the pupils of lower secondary education on the material of written compositions of story-telling. The thesis characterises the form of current syntax of written Czech and its development depending on the age of pupils. The analysis is bases on two collections of texts - the texts in the first collection were produced by 6th to 9th primary school grade pupils based in a town near Prague, the second collection was produced by 6th to 9th primary school grade pupils in Prague. These data were then supplemented with corpus material. In total, there were 302 compositions analysed. Moreover, to depict the reality in its complexity, also curricular and educational materials were being analysed as well as lesson observations and structured interviews conducted with teachers. The comparison between the particular constituents of written syntax enables the conclusions to be drawn being based on the analysed material giving evidence on the current state and development of written syntax with pupils of 6th to 9th grade of primary school, as well as possible disparities of development of particular syntax constituents to be identified and some recommendations for teaching methodology to be conveyed.
The Role of Teaching Assistant at Elementary School

This thesis concerns the cooperation between teacher and teaching assistant (TA) at mainstream elementary school, with the emphasis on perception of TA's presence at the first stage and the second stage of education. It is comprised of two sections. Theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first chapter focuses on the current concept definition of integrative and inclusive pedagogy, and coherent changes in recent years. The second one outlines the professional approach to TA, with emphasis on their usage at mainstream schools, including their employment abroad. The last chapter targets on mutual relationship of TA and other pedagogical staff, teachers and students themselves. The practical part of the thesis is devoted to mixed research which has two parts. The first one deals with the role of TA at mainstream elementary school focusing on his cooperation with teacher, in terms of a first-stage and second-stage class. For purpose of this part of study was chosen the qualitative research method with the usage of semi-structured in-depth interview. There were selected three respondents with required profiles. Program of Practical Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in Lower-secondary School Students

This diploma thesis deals with the risk factors of cardiovascular diseases in children and their prevention. It briefly describes the influenced risk factors of these diseases and the prevention of their occurrence. It also focuses on preventive programs of cardiovascular diseases in our country and in the world and describes them in more detail. It also provides an overview of current biology textbooks for the lower-secondary school and their evaluation based on whether and to what extent they deal with the issue of cardiovascular diseases. The aim of the thesis is to create a program directed at the prevention of cardiovascular diseases in children at the lower-secondary school, to use it in practice at a selected lower-secondary school and to evaluate its effectiveness in a subsequent questionnaire.
Job Satisfaction of Teachers at Upper Primary Schools as an Presumption of their Professional Development

This thesis deals with the job satisfaction of teachers as a presumption of their professional development. The attention is focused on the issue of the job satisfaction, its specification and the most known theories of job satisfaction, also on the characteristics and the problems of teachers' profession in the Czech Republic, on the factors of the job satisfaction and the researches focused on this topic. The professional development of teachers is also discussed. The quantitative questionnaire survey is a part of this thesis and it is focused on the job satisfaction of teachers at upper primary schools in Prague and on their professional development. The aim of this survey is to identify the relationship between the job satisfaction and the professional development of interviewed teachers. Comparison of primary prevention at the second level of elementary schools in Most and Prague

The diploma thesis Comparison of primary prevention at the second level of elementary schools in Most and Prague discusses the implementation of primary prevention at the second level of elemetary school in these two selected locations. The diploma thesis is thematically divided into six chapters. The first part defines the basic terminology related to the topic of primary prevention. This section also contains information about particular topics of risky behavior and counsulting services of elementary schools. The second part follows a survey among school prevention methodologists in Most and Prague. The objective of the following practical part is to identify and compare what form and under what conditions is implemented primary prevention of risky behavior among pupils of the second level of elementary schools. For the survey was used quantitative method, in the form of a questionnaire divided between school prevention methodologists in both cities. In the final part there are interpreted the data obtained in the survey, which confirmed that in both areas there are different approaches to the implementation of primary prevention at the second levels of elementary schools. Demands on Competencies of Lectors of Adaptation Courses for High School

This Bachelor thesis discusses demands on competencies of lectors of adaptation courses for high schools. The object of the thesis is to assemble a list of competencies that a lector should dispose of to be able to attain the goals of the adaptation course. The thesis presents the concept of adaptation courses and differents ways of their realisation. It also disserts on the competencies and the advantage of their utilization and presents two competency models that concern the profession of an adaptation course lector. With the use of relevant literature it identifies the main goals and principles of an adaptation course and the competencies they imply. Verify the effectiveness of Ladislav Daniel's "Bridge Book for 2nd primary school" in practise

Author abstract In my thesis I pursued verify the effectiveness of Ladislav Daniel's "Bridge book for 2nd Primary School" in practise. This textbook had the task to compare the dificiencies and gaps in the music skills of students 2nd Primary School, which become from the music lessons at 1st Primary school. I realized my exploration in the 6th classes of one Prague school, where I have been this year teach music. The status of the music skills induced me to try Daniel's "Bridge book for 2nd Primary School" and return the music lessons between "living subject". Before my exploration I had to realized the initial review in the experimental group and in the control group too, read up Daniel's methodology of music education, textbooks with its methodological guide and analyzed Bridge book for 2nd Primary School with its methodological guide. Pursuant these books I worked out the studing plan of each lesson with methodological steps. At the beginning of the experimental teaching students accesed the lessons very critical. But in a short time they became very active. They carried away new skills and knowledge from each lesson, which they could used and repeat in the next lesson and learn some new. They accept the Bridge book and work with it. After five months of teaching with Daniel's Bridge book I can say,...
Hand metalworking

The diploma thesis is focused on hand metalworking in Technical Education, which is taught at Upper Primary School, in 6th and 7th classes. Content and range of this thesis is adapted for pupils of 6th and 7th class at Primary School. The work includes descriptions of particular training of hand metalworking supplemented by author's photographic material. There are fourteen videos as a multimedia material in the appendix. The created videos contain demonstrations of technique of hand metalworking which are mentioned in the thesis. This created multimedia material could be used not only by pupils in the lesson of Technical Education but also by uncertificated teachers, who taught this subject.
