Supporting the development of metacognitive skills nd compensatory strategies in students with specific learning disabilities

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to investigate the learning strategies of students with specific learning disabilities. It is divided into two parts. The theoretical part offers an insight into specific learning disabilities, presents their definitions, their manifestations in the school educational process and their implications for education. The empirical part uses qualitative research to highlight the different learning strategies used by students with specific learning disabilities. Using semi-structured interviews with students with specific learning disabilities, it seeks to identify methods that would contribute to more effective learning. The research section described the statements from the informants and also presented their experiences of support in education.

Investigation of cognitive abelities in children in substitute educational care facilities The bachelor's thesis is devoted to the topic of cognitive abilities in children in school facilities for the performance of institutional and protective education. The theoretical part deals with the issue of institutional education and the area of cognitive functions in relation to the selected group of respondents. The practical part consists of the results of the verbal battery of the standardized Test of Cognitive Abilities - TKS (Thorndike & Hagen, 1998). The verbal battery of this test focuses and classifies vocabulary, the ability to construct sentences, emphasizes children's ability to think in words and phrases, and use words in a given context. The aim of the research investigation is to determine, find and compare differences in the mentioned area of cognitive abilities in selected groups of respondents aged 12 - 18 years. Part of the thesis is a discussion of the established facts, the formulation of more generally valid conclusions and recommendations for the practice of special education.
Special education interventions aimed at pupils with specific learning disabilities in primary schools Jablonec region

The diploma thesis examines how special education interventions are conducted for pupils with specific learning disabilities in primary schools in the Jablonec nad Nisou district. It consists of theoretical and empirical parts. The theoretical part presents, in its four chapters, counseling services in education, especially school counseling centers and school counseling workplaces. It also discusses the position of the school special education teacher, his/her qualification standards and the professional activities he/she performs. This is followed by a section on specific learning disabilities and the last theoretical chapter focuses on the teaching of the subject of special educational care to pupils with specific learning disabilities. The empirical part used qualitative research methods, case study design. The research involved eight school special education teachers working in primary schools in the district. It was conducted through interviews, supplemented by observations and analysis of school documents. Possibilities of developing the cognitive abilities of seniors in a residential facility

This thesis deals with the possibilities of developing cognitive abilities in seniors in a residential facility. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the issue of senior age, which includes biological, mental and social changes. It includes a description of a residential facility for the elderly and a description of the specific facility where the practical part of this thesis was implemented. The next chapter is a characterization of selected cognitive abilities, followed by a chapter describing cognitive abilities affected by old age. The aim of the practical part, is to determine whether the chosen activities aimed at developing cognitive abilities have an impact on achieving higher scores in the ACE-R test. A quantitative research design has been chosen in this thesis, specifically the quasi-experimental method. The research involves the implementation of a pretest and posttest of the ACE-R, which was administered to the experimental and control groups. Stress has been a part of humanity since its origin, nevertheless, due to the recent pandemic the interest in this topic has dramatically increased. The theoretical part of the thesis "Support of self-regulation through a program of socio-emotional learning at elementary school" gives an introduction to brain functions and stress. A strong emphasis is put on methods about how to reduce stress and preventive programs focused on well-being in schools. The theoretical part also includes a chapter dealing with trauma that can be caused by severe negative stress experiences in childhood or adulthood. The thesis aims to determine whether the use of the RRRR methodology contributes to the improvement of the child's stress management strategies. A mixed design, i.e., a combination of qualitative and quantitative research, was chosen to meet the objectives of this thesis. Action research was chosen as the main method and was conducted in a 6th grade of primary school. This bachelor's thesis focuses on the viewpoint of pupils with specific educational needs on the presence of a teacher's assistant in the process of teaching at the first level of primary school. Its goal is to find out what advantages pupils with specific educational needs see in the presence of a teaching assistant in the classroom, what supports a positive relationship between the teaching assistant and the pupil, and what are the differences between the views of intact pupils and pupils with specific educational needs. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the terms - inclusion, support measures for pupils with specific educational needs, and describes the history of inclusive education. It also focuses on the definition of the teaching assistant profession, its legislative anchoring, work content and competences. Furthermore, the theoretical part is focused on working with pupils with special needs and on the cooperation of the teaching assistant with other pedagogues, legal representatives, and pupils.
