Influencing the challenging behaviour by implementing the PBIS system at elementary school

The thesis Influencing Challenging Behaviour of Pupils by Implementing PBIS in elementary schools aims to provide the reader with a theoretical summary of the link between wellbeing support and its impact on challenging behaviour, and at the same time to introduce evidence-based system the Positive Behaviour Intervention and Support (PBIS). The thesis research, which aims to find out the opinion of pupils and teachers on the introduction of PBIS and its impact on challenging behaviour, was conducted in cooperation with three elementary schools in the Czech Republic which use elements of PBIS in their teaching from 2020. Data for the research was collected using two hundred and eighty-eight questionnaires from second grade elementary school students and three interviews with representatives of the school PBIS teams. Data collection was conducted online, the survey was administered in February 2023, and the interviews were conducted in April 2023. The thesis research revealed that the impact of school-wide PBIS on challenging behavior is perceived by teachers, primarily in the ability to create a safe environment for students and provide positive behavior support that leads to minimizing challenging behavior. Aspects of new challenging behaviour in pupils in a lower secondary education in a primary school in Říčany in time of pandemic of covid-19

The diploma thesis deals with aspects of new challenging behaviour in pupils in a lower secondary education in a primary school in Říčany in time of pandemic of covid-19. The first part of the work includes basic theoretical points and concepts. The most common forms of challenging behavior that can be identified in primary schools are defined here. Furthermore, the most common factors influencing the rise of challenging behavior are listed here. The theoretical part also deals with the issue of psychological stress and the effect of distance learning on students during the covid-19 pandemic. This part of the work is also devoted to the importance of supporting wellbeing in the school environment and explains why it is important to deal with it. The practical part contains the objectives of the research. A mixed research method is chosen to achieve the main research objective. From the main research objective, sub-objectives are set out, from which research questions arise. Promoting pupil's self-regulation and stress reduction in the school environment

The thesis deals with stress and self-regulation of pupils in the school environment. The theoretical part deals with the general issue of stress, stressors, expression of stress, and the child's reactions to stress. It also defines self-regulation, relaxation techniques, specific support for pupils' self-regulation, and coping strategies. The theoretical section defines the concept of wellbeing and the development of pupils' socio-emotional skills. Finally, the issue established in the primary education system. Support options for personal well-being in the view of primary school teachers

This diploma thesis focuses on the issue of the well-being of primary school teachers, and the possibilities for supporting well-being by the teachers themselves and the school management. It is divided into two parts - theoretical and research. The theory is elaborated into four chapters and summarizes the findings of the specialized literature. The first chapter presents the basic concept of well-being, including terms that were previously synonymous and are now an essential part of it. The next chapter is devoted to the topic of well-being itself. It offers a summary of existing theories, defines and describes the area of well-being, and conveys a view of teacher well-being. The third chapter collects information in the area of well-being care. It draws attention to the threatening factors that have an impact on the mental health and work capacity of the teacher, which include, for example, stress or burnout syndrome. It also conveys knowledge of how to improve well-being. The last chapter is devoted to the role of well-being in education. The diploma thesis deals with the activities od a school special pedagogue at a primary school focused od the re-educational support od pupils with specific leasing disabilities. The theoretical part focuses on the definitiv od the profession of a school special pedagogue, its legislative definition and qualifications. Challenging behaviour in primary and secondary school and possible solutions

This work focuses on the risky behaviour of students aged 11 - 15 in a selected elementary school. The aim of this work is to find out the level of knowledge of teachers about the prevalence of risky behaviour at their school, possible solutions to this behaviour, and the awareness about institutes that might help with their resolutions. This thesis has two parts, a theoretical part and a research part. In the theoretical part, ADHD, defence mechanisms, and general principals of teacher to student interactions are discussed. Furthermore, this work focuses on selected types of risky behaviour and their possible solutions that can be carried out by the school. The research part of this thesis consists of a quantitative method in the form of a questionnaire which is filled in by the educators in the elementary school. This questionnaire is further discussed in an interview with a school prevention specialist. The purpose of the research was to assess the frequency of occurrence of each type of risky behaviour, the awareness of teachers about possible solutions, and the solutions the teachers actually use for their resolutions. Support of Cognitive Skills of Seniors of in Residental Care Homes

The diploma thesis deals with the possibilities of supporting the activation of cognitive abilities in the elderly. The work is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of the aging process of an individual with an emphasis on changes in cognitive functions and the possibility of supporting their stimulation. In the practical part, the results of qualitative research are presented, in which data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews with workers and clients of four homes for the elderly and supported by deliberate observation of the activation of cognitive functions. The main goal is to gain an overview of the content and forms of activation activities with a focus on cognitive functions in the selected devices. The goal is also to obtain an overview of the frequency, differentiation and effectiveness of the above-mentioned activation activities in the selected facilities and to create a general recommendation for facility staff with the intention of improving or supplementing the portfolio of provided activities. The presented rigorous thesis continues and expands the thesis of the author of the text entitled Written expressions of pupils of the 3rd and 5th grades in diagnostic dictations (Dolníková, 2017). The work deals with the issue of written expression of pupils in the Chomutov region. Research part 1 compares the spelling skills of pupils of different types of schools and pupils with a specific developmental disorder of school skills. It briefly describes not only the basic etiology of difficulties in writing, but also reflects related external factors that can affect the quality of written expression, such as the teaching method, location or type of school, socio- economic status, and it also addresses distance learning as a new phenomenon of the times. Using quantitative methodology, it assesses the level of spelling skills of the research sample in two different diagnostic tests (Novák, 2002 and Caravolas & Volín, 2005). The present rigorous thesis is a continuation of the author's master thesis Written expressions of pupils at the 3rd and 5th grades in diagnostic dictations. The thesis deals with the issue of written expression of pupils of 3rd and 5th grades of primary schools in the Chomutov region. It compares the spelling skills of pupils from different types of schools and pupils with specific developmental disorders. It briefly describes not only the basic aetiology of writing difficulties, but above all reflects on external factors that can influence the quality of written expression, such as teaching method, location or type of school, socio-economic status, and newly focuses on distance learning as a new phenomenon of the time. This thesis focuses on the promotion of self-regulation and stress reduction in secondary school students during the transition periods between full-time and distance education during the covid-19 pandemic. The aim of the thesis is to identify the stressors experienced by the students, the strategies that helped the students to regulate stress and the ways in which the students' self-regulation was promoted by the teaching staff. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with basic terms related to stress, especially stress in children and adolescents. It also focuses on defining forms and methods of self-regulation and distance education. The practical part of the thesis deals with stress and self-regulation in students of a selected secondary school during the transitions between full-time and distance education. A qualitative research design was used to meet the research objective.
