The Open Work? Swann in love and its film adaptation (1984)

(in English): Our thesis is titled The Open Work? Swann in love and it's film adaptation. Our primary aim is not only to summarize the most famous theories about the openness of the work but also to apply these theories directly to the book Swann in love and subsequent comparison of the literary and film adaptation of the story. We have divided the thesis into three chapters. The first one is methodological overview. In our thesis we will deal with several phenomena from the field of literary science. We will be interested mainly in the character of the reader and the author and the different roles attributed to them by different theories. We will look closely at the differences between the empiric and model reader and the author, deal with the openness of the work, the difference between the subjects of the author, the narrator and the main characters, and we will also look into the theory of fictional worlds. We chose the work of Umberto Eco as a theoretical basis, but we also draw some ideas from the work of other literary theorists. In the second chapter, these theories will be applied to the specific passages of the book Swann in love. Let's get into the fictional world of Swan's love and watch the surroundings. We will try to conclude what the reader of this work should be, what mistaken...
Milan Kundera and intertextuality

The diploma thesis Milan Kundera and Intertextuality deals with aspects of relations between the texts in his novels. The first part outlines the intertextuality, theory of the novel and the approaches of some literary theorists towards this issue. The second half of the thesis analyzes the intertextuality in Kundera's works in various forms, mainly based on the themes of dreams and physicality. The greatest emphasis is placed on examining the legacy of Kafka in the context of Kundera's works, particularly in the novels The Joke and The Book of Laughter and Forgetting. Thesis Intertextuality in the work of Milan Kundera deals with intertextuality facets in his novels theoretically and practically. This work deals with the text and the relations between one and other - with intertextuality and with novel genre theories. I work with four important theorist, Michail Bachtin, Julia Kristeva, Gerard Genette and Roland Barthes. I examine their concepts of polyphony or Socratic dialogue and apply them on Kundera. Abstract (in English) The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse Japanese antiutopic animated movie The Sky Crawlers directed by Mamoru Oshii. The work tries to research the ideological structuring of this film's fictional world. The ideological background of the movie is analysed using Louis Pierre Althusser's ideology criticism together with Lubomír Doležel's fictional worlds theory. We combine these (structuralistic) tools to examine the impact of ideology in the movie as a whole. Design of this picture is examined in relation to its antiutopic genre. That is why we put emphasis on the picture's wider (anti)utopic/dystopic context. For a better understanding of the genre we define two antiutopic conditions which serve to make its definition clear. Weapons of Mass Equivocation: Contradictory Coordinates of Postwar Anti-Communist Cycle

The aim of this master's thesis is to define and analyse the anti-Communist cycle: a group of several dozen feature films, which were produced in the United States since the late forties until the end of the fifties. The thesis adopts a critical approach to the current research on the cycle; it considers that scholars have not taken into account much of the relevant context and have described the cycle only as a reflection of some social phenomena. This project enriches the debate by considering the plurality of differently motivated participants. In addition to shifts in the society as a whole, the emphasis is put on the interests of both the film industry and ones, who expressed their disagreement with the dominant form of anti-Communism, but not with the anti-Communism itself. The anti-Communist cycle is thus presented as a dynamic group of various films in terms of ideas, style or genres; among these films a discreet tension was created. This general hypothesis is tested by three extensive chapters. The first chapter deals with the context and defines the role of all participants. Structures and themes of Yusuf Idris' short stories

This bachelor's thesis deals with the artistic development of the Egyptian writer Yusuf Idris (1927-1991). Based on the study of two short stories collections it describes the changes in his writing from the 1960s to the 1980s. To achieve this goal, the thesis uses the terminology of the theory of fictional worlds developed by Lubomír Doležel, which provides a suitable tool for the characterisation of themes and techniques in Idris' works. Starting from Idris' realistic worlds of the 1950s, the thesis tracks and explains the fundamental change that his writing later underwent. The essential socio-political context is also given. Through detailed textual analysis of selected short stories, the thesis concludes that author's fictional worlds from the 1980s are darker, more self-contained and complicated, despite of some continuity of themes and structural techniques used throughout Idris' work.
Between Subjectivity and Object: Self in the Discourse of Modern Japanese Literature

(in English): This thesis is devided into three parts. In the fist part, the development of literary discourse in Japan between Meiji and postwar period is described, with emphasis on the development of literary character and Subject in a work of literature. The second part theoretical apparatus for studiying and analyzing literary character is introduced, using contemporary literary theory. In that part relationship between literary character and its subject is also included. In the third part, these findings are applied on a specific literary works of Japanese postwar literature, on which development and changes of literary character are observed. The three analyzed works here are Kamen no kokuhaku by Mishima Yukio, Tanin no kao by Abe Kōbō and Man'en gan'nen no futtobōru by Ōe Kenzaburō.
Virtual reality - aesthetic consequences

In the present work we study key structural points of the theory of fictional worlds, looking for the similar points in virtual reality worlds and then experimentaly overlaying both sets. Main scope of this study is clear definition of borders between fictional and virtual worlds. At the end, we will see the main differencies as well as an common grounds of fiction and virtual reality, which will be helpful for further aesthetic studies of medium of virtual reality and its contents, the virtual reality worlds.
Narration as Principle of Individuation

This thesis in the beginning explores various approaches to relation of human mind and language. It focuses concretely on contact of reader and literal work. It deals with theory language structures and their relation to the human view of the world. It treats of discipline about right understanding of text and his impact on human mind. The work explores narrative ability of recognition, relation of reader and text in light of structuralism, ability of filling meta-texts structures. Further it analyzes the significance of myth on human mind, its influence on society and henceforth its ritual use. Next the work is about relation of myth and fairy tale, about their similarity and difference and about mythical thinking in our current society. The last chapter is key part of the work, to where leads previous text. It explores individuation process and influence of narrative on its successful completion. In this part the work examines total influence of narrative on human soul and possibility of narrative psychotherapy and analyzes narration from the view of the depth psychology.
