University education of foreigners in the Czech Republic

1 University education of foreigners in the Czech Republic Abstract The thesis examines evolution, trends and structures of foreigners in tertiary education sector in the Czech Republic and at the same time aims at finding common aspects or differences between students with Czech citizenship and without it. In the theoretical part of examining university education for foreigners the concept of third demographic transition has been applied. The Associated Student Register Information (SIMS) has been used as the main data source. In this thesis, the analysis is based on individual anonymized data of graduates in the period between 2001 and 2017. The analysis focuses on net duration of study with such independent variables as gender, age, study field, form of study, type of university and citizenship. The analytical part also examines the relationship between gender and its possible dependence on citizenship, study field and on the net duration of study. One of the conclusions of this work is that the number of Czech students has been progressively decreasing in the last few years, while the number of foreign students in the Czech Republic is growing. The use of graduates of the Physical Education and Sport study program at Charles University Faculty of Physical Education and Sport on the labor market

This dissertation thesis deals with the use of full-time Masters' graduates of the Physical Education and Sport study program at Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Charles University on the labor market. In the theoretical part a review of the current state of knowledge about the use of graduates on the labor market was completed, especially university graduates. On the basis of this review the construct of the use of Charles University Faculty of Physical Education and Sport graduate was operationalized and the main tool of the survey, the electronic questionnaire, was compiled. The basic set of the survey was formed by the graduates of the full-time Masters' studies program between the years 2010 and 2015 in the fields of Secondary School Teaching (double-subject), Physical Education and Sport (single-subject), Military Physical Education and Sports Management. 346 responses from 671 questionnaires were obtained (52% return rate). In the result part collected data was first analyzed by the chi-square test on the basis of 3 identification variables (gender of the respondents, field of study and year of graduation) and subsequently individual results of the survey were presented. Shaping of Legal Consciousnes of non-law University Students

This dissertation thesis Shaping of Legal Consciousness of non-law University Students aims to explore the process of forming legal literacy and consciousness of non-lawyers mainly via education. Premise or audited issue is that didactics and methodology of law and hence connected cultivation of legal consciousness of individuals are not very effective. Thereof the starting point is the anticipated inefficiency of teaching law for non-lawyers. The thesis firstly looks for the purpose of university education today as well as the position of its students. Further the concept of legal consciousness is presented. The last two chapters confirm some hypothesis using results of researches made for this thesis. The first research focuses on university teachers of law to non- lawyers, the second one deals with universities' students and graduates.
Specific Needs of Deaf People Studying at Universities in Czech Republic

The thesis focuses on the issue of education of people with hearing disabilities at universities in the Czech Republic. It emphasizes the specific educational needs of people with hearing disabilities who study at the university, and which meet the needs by support services. Work specifically address to the different types of support services and centres to support students with special educational needs at universities that offer these services. The survey, conducted in the form of online questionnaire, found that the use of support services is frequented and at the same time, the quality of these services is rated as very high. The survey also followed the use of modifications graduation exam correlated using a modification of entrance exams for universities. Created an online questionnaire in the Czech sign language provides effective feedback deaf students to the centres to support students with special educational needs. Attitudes of young people with disabilities to academic education

This thesis deals with issues of level and structure of education of contemporary Czech population with a view to the target group of disabled people. It talks about historical evolution in this field, current trends and available statistical data, which represent it. A prominent theme of the thesis is a lower number of disabled people with university education in comparison with intact population. We will have a short look at supportive measures for students with special needs at Czech universities as well. Then, a part of the thesis is a survey which examines attitudes of young disabled people towards university education. Legal education and attempts to reform it in the Czech lands from 1918 until today

The dissertation called Legal education and attempts to reform it in the Czech lands from 1918 until today deals with theoretical and historical views of the legal education system at Czech Legal faculties during the last century. The course of the reforms that have shaped the current state of the Legal faculty is shown in the light of historical development. The subject matter of Legal education is treated from the point of view of the modern approach to the theories of Legal studies. The present trends and new requirements developed after 1989 are taken into account. The conclusion takes into consideration the comparative views of Legal education and brings a complex analysis of the given problem.
Effect of massification of university education on the labor market and job opportunities for graduates

This dissertation examines the influence of massification of tertiary education in labor market. There are explored effects of access to higher education of graduates and their chances of finding an adequate employment. It is partially inspired by the piece of work from Jan Keller and Lubor Tvrdý - Vzdělanostní společnost? Chrám, výtah a pojišťovna. The thesis also describes a situation on the labour market with regard to the employment of graduates and their applicability in practice. Statistical research is used and complemented by a survey among employers. The main objective of the thesis, ie. Employment of graduates in the labor market, was achieved thanks to these results. This piece of work could be used as a presentation of the results of the quality investigation and the need of higher education.
Chemical Education in Scotland - teaching of chemistry at high schools and chemistry teachers education

The Czech Republic and Scotland rank similarly in international pupil's performance tests. However, education systems of these countries differ greatly. This research has three main focus areas: 1) general aspects of Scottish education including teaching methods, school and real life connections in teaching, and school leaver's destinations 2) studying Chemistry and teaching at university 3) Chemistry in the senior phase of secondary education and the change of topics and exam paper brought in with the new Curriculum for Excellence. Comparative analysis of syllabi, exam papers, government publications and OECD reports was used and personal experience from an exchange study programme at a Scottish university and a work placement at a secondary school in England were utilized. The Higher exam paper was translated and Czech secondary students sat the test Furthermore, teacher trainees and Chemistry teachers were asked to evaluate the test. Results show that Czech students are taught different things and are accustomed to different ways of being tested, ones that are more focused on knowledge and less on critical thinking. Possibilities of school social work in tertiary education in the Czech Republic

The diploma thesis "The possibilities of school social work in tertiary education in the Czech Republic" analyses the possibilities of introducing the profession of a social worker into the Czech university education system. The first part of the thesis is focused on presenting general issues of school social work. Moreover, the development of school social work in the Czech Republic is described and compared to the experience in other countries where school social work has a long tradition. The second part is dedicated to the specifics of university environment, its problems and its potential. The differences between the client target groups in secondary and tertiary education are explained. The last section of the thesis defines the roles and competences of school social workers at universities. The definition of a university social worker is created with regard to the worker's activities and specialization.
