Role of the US Foreign Policy Advisers

This thesis focuses on the role of the advisors in the US foreign policy, especially in the decision-making process, which constitutes a part of presidential system in the United States of America. The methodology of the conceptual part is based on individual typologies of presidential control of the US administrations. The thesis also describes evolution of this discipline, which in the USA is studied in the field of Foreign Policy Analysis. The conceptual scheme of the presidential control is based on the models by Johnson, George and Mitchell. The theoretical approach to the roles of advisors is patterned on the models of Mulcahy, Crabb and Hönig. The thesis combines these theoretical bases to describe and explain the evolution of presidential control typologies. Some problematic particularities of the Mitchell typology are also reviewed in this part. The next part based on the theoretical models analyses empirical reality. The analytical part constitutes of two case studies, which describe the role of the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs in the key deliberations of the presidential administrations of William J. The Influence of the European Parliament on Decision-making in the European Union: Case Study Services Directive

The bachelor thesis deals with the role of the European Parliament in decision-making process in European Union under the co-decision procedure. By using the theory of liberal integovermentalism it reflects on wheter the position of the Parliament is mainly influenced by preferences of its political groups, or whether the national interests of those backbenchers, who depending on their position in the institution are able to influence this position, also play the role. The paper focuses on the case study of the Services Directive, which during its negotiations became a subject of many changes. Most controversial issues of the draft were a scope of the Directive and newly introduced country-of-origin principle. The first part of the paper introduces different paradigms of the European integration, which could influence decision-making process. The second part presents key players of the negotiations within the Parliament. The third part itself focuses on the case study, mainly on the preferences of those key players during the development of the position of this institution. Shale gas and conflict of (public) interests (Based on the example of Trutnovsko and Berounsko)

The goal of this thesis is to examine the term of public interest within the framework of the 'shale gas' issue in the Czech Republic. The theoretical section is divided into two basic parts. The first part defines the term public interest from the point of view of political science, sociology and economy. The second one describes the issue of shale gas extraction in global context. The examination is focused on the context of administrative procedures defining the prospecting exploration area of unconventional hydrocarbon resources in the Trutnov region and around the Berounka River The intention of private companies to extract shale gas in the Czech Republic caused a big discussion. In its core there is the dispute between the economic development of the country connected with energy security on one hand and the environment protection on the other. Within this debate the term public interest appears in many different contexts. The way it is used by the people involved and their interests are described through interviews with them and analysis of the gained material.
Decision - making process of parents in the field of postponing the compulsory school attendance

This dissertation describes the decision-making process of parents in the field of postponing the compulsory school attendance or starting it on schedule. The qualitative research is based on an aggregate of 41 semi-structured interviews with parents and two focus groups, completed by subsequent observations and interviews with parents and teachers. The research goal consisted in illuminating the background of the high number of postponements in the Czech Republic, where every year about 20 % of children start in the first class a year later. The dissertation also provides insight on this topic in a comparative perspective and analyzes the initiation of compulsory education in selected European countries. The research results presented in the form of an established theory document that parents' decisions are based primarily on the needs of the family and especially of the need to be a good parent. The decision making is influenced also by the parents' attitude to the delay which has also impact on the weight being attached to other factors of the decision-making process, such as school maturity and individual areas of school readiness as well as the month of birth. Thesis "Decision-making process according to Graham T. Allison: American government and Iraq invasion" focuses on application of Allison's three basic conceptual models, that were introduced and broadly defined in book Essence of decision: explaining the Cuban missile crisis in 1971, on decision-making process of American administration formed by George W. Bush, which led to invasion of Iraq in 2003. Models of the rational actor, organizational process and governmental politics represented huge breakthrough in Foreign Policy Analysis and studying of decision-making processes and even after many decades they remain highly valued. Main target of this study will be testing their empirical value by using edited interpretation and through different perspectives describe and outline nature of chosen decision-making process. Thesis emphasizes differences in perception of main actor and ways, how these views influence interpretation of character of picked case and final action. NÁZEV / TITLE: Vysílání ozbrojených sil se souhlasem parlamentu / Deployment of the armed forces with the consent of parliament Abstract This diploma thesis deals with the issue of deploying the armed forces of the Czech republic on foreign missions and similar events and with the role of parliament in the decision-making process. Its main objective is to analyze intentions of the creators of the current Constitution of the Czech republic in matters of deployment of the armed forces, but also can not omit matters that are in broader or narrower sense related to this topic, such as stays, transits or flights of the armed forces of foreign states through the territory of the Czech republic. In its first part, this diploma thesis provides a definition of basic sources and a definition of terms related to the topic of the thesis. The Purchase Decision Making Process of Durable Goods

This bachelor thesis examines the decision-making process of purchasing durable goods, aiming to explore how a consumer in the purchasing process is influenced by his/her primary social groups. This thesis also looks at what are the specific influences of individual members, and what kind of roles these members have. At the same time, it examines the sentiment towards e-mobility in the buyer's social environment. The practical part of the thesis itself is based on qualitative research in which six interviews with EV owners were conducted. During the interviews, the respondents were retrospectively coming back to their past purchasing experiences. The transcripts of the interviews were then analysed using the open coding method, which allowed to make some remarkable findings. The results of this study show the changing influence of the primary social group on consumers at different stages of the purchase process. The tendency of buyers to selectively filter only the positive comments was also revealed, especially at the beginning of the car purchase decision process. Diploma thesis "Decision-making process in the Council of the European Union after the enlargement 2004 - common commercial policy" deals with decision- making in the Council of the European Union and focuses in particular on the negotiations at a lower level. The common commercial policy is the target area mainly because of exclusive competences of the European Community. The aim of this thesis is the view of negotiations on the commercial agenda in the Council of the European Union and the coalition groups among Member States. A prerequisite for the analysis is the hypothesis, whether it is possible to derive from coalition groups at a lower level of decision-making the later coalitions in the Council of the European union. The analysis is based on reports of the Committee 133, the key body for the Council of the European Union in the common commercial policy in the period from January 2005 to December 2006. The data set was examined by the cluster analysis method.
Comparing factors influencing purchase behavior of given target groups in beer segment

This bachelor 's thesis focuses on factors influencing purchase behavior of given target groups in beer segment. It focuses mainly on individual factors, which can enter the decision-making process and somehow affect it. The first part of the thesis focuses on history of brewing and of beer bottles in the Czech Republic. After that, the internal and external factors affecting decision-making during purchase are being introduced. Also purchase behavior is being defined and whole purchase-making process is described. Practical part of the thesis focuses on general knowledge of beer brands and individual factors affecting given target groups using quantitative research. The goal of the thesis is to find out about the preferences of the examined target groups and shed a light on the factors affecting purchase behavior.
