THESIS TITLE Children with Specific Language Impairment in the School Environment ABSTRACT The thesis focuses on children with specific language impairment (also called developmental dysphasia) in the school environment and it is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part consists of four chapters. The first chapter describes specific language impairment and related terminology, defines a younger school-age child and also deals with causes, diagnosis and therapy of specific language impairment. The second chapter discusses social and communication skills of a child and the impact of specific language impairment on these skills. The third chapter concentrates on reading, writing and particular influences of specific language impairment which are associated with the development of other disorders and difficulties. The fourth chapter describes adaptation of a child with specific language impairment to the school environment. The empirical part consists of qualitative research, designed as multiple case studies, that was carried out among five younger school-age respondents. Reading comprehension in children with autism spectrum disorder in 6th and 9th grade

The submitted thesis deals with the matter of reading comprehension in pupils with autism spectrum disorders. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part we dealt with the issue of autism spectrum disorders, constituent diagnoses and the triad of disrupted areas. Further into thesis we presented the reader the fundamental cognitive theories which explain exhibitions within the range of autism spectrum disorders. Towards the end of thesis we dealt with reader's literacy with special emphasis on reading comprehension. The second part presents empirical research aimed at ascertainment of reading comprehension in pupils with autism spectrum disorders. The research sample consisted of sixth and ninth grade pupils diagnosed with Asperger syndrome from both primary and grammar school. The sample was supplemented with a control group which comprised intact pupils of the same grades. For the purposes of this study there were created new tests focusing on the level of reading comprehension. The first test aimed at reading comprehension with regard to silent reading, the second test observed reading comprehension in terms of loud reading. Grammar school students are educated in academically and socially homogenous environment. Goal of the bachelor thesis is to present research design, which will find out whether there is a difference in the level of social skills and emotional intelligence between secondary and grammar school students. The thesis propose hypothesis that heterogeneity of classes on secondary school has impact on development of these skills, compared to homogenous classes at grammar school. Social Skills of English Teachers in Educational Interactions at Secondary Schools

The aim of the dissertation is to define the requisite social skills of the English language teacher as a part of his/her professional competence, in the context of communicative language teaching in classroom interactions at secondary schools. The theoretical part is divided into four chapters. The first chapter addresses the processes involved in foreign language learning and acquisition. It first defines the linguo-didactic framework of the dissertation in terms of the functional communicative approach to language and communicative language teaching. The second chapter deals with the processes of interaction and communication at school with an emphasis on foreign language teaching. Attention is paid to functions and content of educational interactions as practised by the main stakeholders - the teachers and their adolescent pupils. The specifics of foreign language educational interaction and its social features are illustrated. The third chapter seeks to define social skills and their relationship to other skills in the professional competence of the English teacher. Personality and social education and its influence on the classroom climate

This work is focused on the topic of school class climate and its enhancement by the methods of personality and social education in a concrete class where the author is working as a teacher. The theoretical part is dedicated to the class climate and its characteristics. It describes what influences, by which methods it can be investigated and what can it be influenced by. In the practical part the author uses the methods of the teacher's active research to investigate the climate in her own class and also self-reflexively examines herself from the view of the beginning teacher. During the time period of one school year continually monitors the climate in her class and states the most effective ways towards improvement. The results of the research show that the methods of personality and social education have an influence to the class climate if they are used in a natural and casual manner. Connection between social skills teaching and classmates relationshipsde

Summary: This dissertation is aiming to find the connection between clasroom relationships development and regular social skills teaching. Specifically if social skills teaching creates positive development within students relationships and if it influences better classroom climate. The teoretical part defines the concept of pedagogical diagnostics, its methods and forms, especially focused on educational - research sociomethry, sociomethric methods and techniques. In the end of theoretical part is described educational program CESTY with subject ‚Social skills focused on the developement of positive relationships between students with ADHD, ADD issues. The empiric part is built on research which was made using sociomethric - rating questionnare of Vladimír Hrabal (S-O-R-A-D). This questionnare was used in three fifth year of elementary school classes for children with specific issues and in three regular elementary school classes. Rating of the results using sociomethric indexes and sociograms is the base for comparing the development of relationships in classes with ADHD students, where the social skills are taught regularly, and three regular classes without this subject. The questionnary was set twice in every class, first time at the beginning of school year and second time at the end of first mid-year.
Canine assisted therapy, a support in the development of social skills and communication of children with autism spectrum disorder

SUMMARY: This thesis deals with canine assisted therapy as a support in the development of social skills and communication of children with autism spectrum disorder and is based on the professional literature and analysis of the therapy's influence on the development of personality in individuals with autism spectrum disorder. The introduction describes autism spectrum disorders, emphasising their social characteristics and communication of individuals with autism spectrum disorders. The second part deals with canine assisted therapy, its methods and forms, as well as, its specific pedagogical use. The third part of the thesis studies the case of a boy with autism spectrum disorder who regularly attended canine assisted therapy. This thesis uses the following methodology: analysis of professional literature, participant observation, informal interview, questionnaire, video analysis and the case study data analysis. This thesis concludes in the finding that canine assisted therapy supports the development of social skills and non-verbal communication of children with autism spectrum disorder. The support of canine assisted therapy in the development of verbal communication of children with autism spectrum disorder was not proven. The Bachelor thesis: "Occupational therapy application in addition treatment" deals with medium-therm institucional treatment of dependants. The work contains justification of occupational therapy application in addition treatment. The theoretical part is devided to the two points. The part which deals with the addiction defines the main attributes of addiction, cause of addiction and addiction kinds. It defines in the organization of care for persons with addiction the treatment program for this target group with an emphasis on medium-term inpatient treatment, mentions phase of this treatment, concepts such as detoxification, dual diagnosis and combined therapy. It sets occupational therapy as part of treatment for people with addiction. The theoretical part is defined occupational therapy, defined its objectives, target groups, forms, techniques and describes the formation of the occupational therapy programme.
