Gabriel Cornelius von Max and some aspects of his drawing-work This thesis deals with the painter Gabriel Cornelius von Max (1840-1915). The first part of the essay describes the life and the work of this Munich artist. His oil paintings were characterized by a naturalistic style influenced by mysticism and spiritism. He focused on symbolic aspects of painting. The intention of this thesis is to show Max a generalis with many specific interests, especially in science. He also founded a large naturalistic collection. The second part of the thesis is focused on a still unknown part of the artists' work, on his drawings. The aim in to present a collection of drawings from Gabriel Cornelius von Max, which is deposed in Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus und Kunstbau München, and to show in the context of the whole artistists' work. Voices of Native American women: the life narratives of Sarah Winnemucca, Zitkala-Sa, Maria Campbell and Leslie Marmon Silko

The aim of this thesis is to explore the genre of Native American women autobiography by concentrating on its four significant representatives. In the opening part, the work presents the genre providing its several definitions and tracing its origins. Further, it briefly summarizes the history of autobiography with a special focus on American literature and it introduces the genre of Native American autobiography and explains its particularities. Because the work deals with Native American women, the beginning also discusses their past and present social position and their first literary VOICeS. The central part of the thesis investigates four distinct autobiographical narratives written by Native American women at different times and it surveys the main themes that dominate the genre ofNative American woman autobiography. Although all discussed books are labeled as the autobiographies, they m1x together a number of various areas and genres such as history, sociology, mythology, ethnography, political documents, and many others. Native American oral storytelling forms the fundamental base in the analyzed texts, but it is the most experimental autobiography of Leslie Marmon Silko that is wholly constructed as the process of storytelling when her stories carry formal characteristics of Indian oral tales such...

Ludmila Žofková. Life and works

The aim of this piece is to illustrate a life and work of Ludmila Žofková, one of the Czech reformative pedagogy figures of twenties and thirties, 19. century. The introductory part shows us Ms. Žofková's life the way she remembered it in her manuscripts. Next parts are devoted to her pedagogic activity, pedagogic autobiography in other words.Before the Analysis of "Bakov plan" we are going to think up Czech and world pedagogic trends of the beginning of 20. century. The attempt analysis itself is a key part of the piece. It is divided into 3 chapters. In the Didactic analysis we're going to uncover the "Bakov plan" in didactic point of view. The Conditions chapter is showing what conditions the "Bakov plan" realization presumed and what conditions the pedagogues from Bakov faced in real. Last chapter called Educational Aspects and Instruments presents what were the educatory aims the "Bakov plan" had, and which tools were used to make these aims happen. Final part of the piece describes the Czech language education at school in Bakov and Czech language workbooks written by Ludmila Žofková. I believe that this work brings another perspective on knowledge and inspiration to teachers' pedagogic activity.

Music and Movedent Education on the Background of Orff-Schulwerk, Libuše Kurková and Her Contribution to Music and Movement Education

The diploma thesis "Music-Movement Education on the Background of Orff Schulwerk. Libuše Kůrková and Her Contribution to Music-Movement Education." describes in detail the circumstances of Orff Schulwerk's origins and its spreading in pedagogical practice of music-movement education for preschool and young school children. It also speaks about the development of Orff's ideas in the Czech educational milieu. Its main focus, however, is upon the professional evolution and work of Libuše Kůrková. The work discovers her sources of inspiration (Duncan, Jeřábková, Orff) and thus gives an account of the development of music-movement education from the perspective of one of the pioneers of modern approach to music-movement education. The thesis gives a detailed portrait of Libuše Kurková's life, praises her as a creator of an original approach to elementary music and dance education for preschool children. It also presents her as one of the most distinctive figures of musicmotion education in this country. The thesis is meant to be especially useful for students and teachers of music-movement classes who can understand the irreplaceable function of aesthetic education for a healthy and harmonious child's development.

Works of Eduard Petiška for Small Children

Základní myšlenkou diplomové práce je probuzení zájmu o dětskou tvorbu Eduarda Petišky. V úvodu se zabývám důvody a hypotézami, které stály u zrodu tohoto záměru. V teoretické části odpovídá její charakter literárně-teoretickému přístupu k dílu s konkrétním úmyslem podrobit zkoumání celou Petiškovu tvorbu určenou dětem. Od prvotního seznámení se základními životopisnými údaji autora, přes celkové utváření jeho tvorby včetně jeho prací určených dospělému čtenáři, směřuji k pochopení literárního kontextu v Petiškovč tvorbě. V podrobném studiu jeho textů určených dětem je pak mým prioritním zájmem snaha zaujmout hodnotící stanovisko v základních literárních oblastech, vztahujících se například k míře intencionality a sní související volbou témat, jazykovou složkou, stavbou příběhu, ve smyslu přínosu pro předškolní dítě. Pohledem na Petiškovo dílo pro děti v kontextu současné dětské české literatury nabízím srovnání s dalšími autory, jednak proto, abych zdůraznila Petiškův autorský podíl na literární scéně, a jednak abych se vyhnula jednoznačnému subjektivismu při posuzování tohoto díla. V praktické části práce mě zajímají možnosti využití Petiškových textů v procesu předškolního vzdělávání a uvádím zde vlastní návrh konkrétního projektu s literárním východiskem Petiškova příběhu určeného předškolnímu dítěti....

Karel Slavoj Amerling and his Influence on the Budeč Region

Tématem mé diplomové práce je osobnost národního buditele, lékaře, chemika, učitele, pedagogického teoretika, vizionáře a neúnavného organizátora z doby sklonku feudalismu a úsvitu kapitalismu - Karla Slavoje Amerlinga. Pří zpracování jeho osobnosti si kladu dva cíle. Prvním cílem je představit ho jako významného účastníka procesu národního obrození, ve kterém se velmi aktivně' angažoval v mnoha rolích a rovinách. Druhým a hlavním cílem je zachytit jeho nejvýznamnější dílo - učitelský a vzdělávací ústav Budeč, kterému věnoval Amerling sedm let života v období 1839 - 1846. Práce se bude snažit postihnout projekt Budče komplexně a synteticky. Bude popsána příprava, financování, průběh, vnitřní organizace, činnost, vliv a dopad na společnost, úspěchy a také se pokusí najít odpověď na příčiny pádu a zániku Budče. Práce se bude snažit postihnout Karla Slavoje Amerlinga v několika rovinách, jež povedou k pochopení interakce mezi ním a společností. Vykreslí tedy jeho podíl na emancipaci národa a zároveň se zaměří na zvraty, které ovlivnily jeho jednání a postoje. Pozornost bude věnována jeho dětství, studiím, buditelské činnosti, angažování v Jednotě pro povzbuzení průmyslu, společenským vazbám a zejména a především pedagogické činnosti. Na všechny tyto životní etapy a role bude nahlíženo v kontextu budování Budče.

Juhani Aho and the analysis of his work "Alone"

tvorby Juhaniho Aha- především analýza jeho prózy Osamělý. Z Ahova pestrého životopisu je patrné, že ke své spisovatelské a novinářské dráze směřoval již od útlého mládí. Tento plodný autor se ve své tvorbě věnoval rozličným otázkám a tématům z nejrůznějších sfér lidského bytí a nahlížel je svým osobitým pohledem. Vedle toho je rovněž zajímavé, že Juhani Aho obsáhl svým vývojem několik uměleckých směrů - realismus, náznaky naturalismu, francouzské introspektivní proudy, novoromantismus a novorealismus. Primárním záměrem této práce byl již zmiňovaný rozbor díla Osamělý, na jehož základě jsem dospěla k podnětným závěrům. Úvodem své diplomové práce jsem považovala za nutné vyřešit nejprve dilema týkající se jednak autobiografičnosti zmiňované prózy, jednak jejího žánrového zařazení. V prvním případě jsem se na Ahovo dílo pokusila aplikovat poznatky francouzského literárního vědce Philippa Lejeuna a dospěla jsem k závěru, že prózu Osamělý nelze v jeho pojetí označovat jako čistou autobiografii. V souvislosti s žánrovým označením díla jsem se rozhodla vycházet z finské poetiky a na prózu Osamělý odkazovat termínem pienoisromaani - "malý román". The world of Harry Potter translated into Czech and Slovak

This study provides a description of the translation techniques applied to the translation of culturally significant phenomena in the Harry Potter series into Czech and Slovak. The analysis extends to the first three boo ks of the Harry Potter series by British author J. K. Rowling and their translations into Czech and Slovak. The theoretical framework is derived from the views of Finnish scholar R. Oittinen (2000) on the translation of children's literature; the translation techniques used to analyze the translations are taken from Molina&Albir (2002). Chapter 1 discusses Harry Potter from the point of view of literary theory. It reviews the different traditions (Anglo-American, Czech, Slovak) in defining and describing fantasy literature and fantasy for children. In the Czech and Slovak literary contexts, there is a tendency to view works similar to Harry Potter as fairy tales with fantastic elements. Poetry of Ludvík Kundera

The thesis focuses on the poetry of Ludvík Kundera. It introduces his work in chronological order and within the contemporary literary-historical framework. The analysis and the interpretation of his early poems often refer to the war period. Language and its potentiality are a main concern in Kundera's other work. His poetry is defined in the context of avant-garde modern art: surrealism, dadaism and expressionism. The thesis researches the impact of Brecht's poetics on Kundera, too. It also introduces the persona of the artist, who significantly contributed to forming the Czech literary field during the second half of the 20th century. Kundera's poetry relates to Czech and foreign artists and their works. The poems rise from ordinary occasions, as well as showing the poet's intertextual approach. Experimentation, wordplay, lyrical humour and irony are an inherent part of Ludvík Kundera's work.

The St. Barbora cathedral in Kutná Hora. Architectural work of master Hanuš and Matěj Rejsek

V roce 2005 byla na Ústavu pro dějiny umění FFUK v Praze vypracována magisterská diplomová práce pod vedením prof. PhDr. Jaromíra Homolky CSc. na téma "Chrám sv. Barbory v Kutné Hoře, dílo Matěje Rejska jako architekta ". Obhájena byla tato práce v témže roce. Největší důraz v ní byl kladen na rozlišení, které části stavby lze připsat Matěji Rejskovi a které po dvojím restaurování chrámu lze považovat za autentické. Na základě tohoto rozboru a detailního popisu bylo možné konstatovat, že Matěj Rejsek vytvořil chórem sv. Barbory pozoruhodné architektonické dílo se svébytnými prvky. V předkládané rigorózní práci je obsah předchozí studie rozšířen o osobnost a dílo mistra Hanuše, prvního stavitele chrámu v pozdně gotickém období a o prohloubené poznání samotného Rejskova díla. Díky lešení po stavenému až po klenbu chóru bylo možné poznat chrám také v interiéru. Na základě detailního studia všech částí architektury, běžně nepřístupných polí triforia a klenby bylo možné načrtnout jednotlivé podíly obou mistrů na stavbě. Do jisté míry se podařilo to, o čem se skepsí v roce 1946 psal Bohuslav Kraus 1 : "Snad nové výzkumy zdiva a způsobu stavby, možné při restauracích, přesněji osvětlí, kde končí Hanuš a co je dílem Rejskovým. Dosavadní bádání neuspokojuje ".
