Teacher questions supporting communication in the classroom (on the material of ELT)

The diploma thesis deals with the teacher questions in classroom interaction in the teaching of English at the second stage of primary school. Many studies show that quality teacher questions develop pupils' communication in foreign language teaching, increase the quality and quantity of the pupil's language. The theoretical part of the thesis first presents the position of English as a school subject within the Framework Educational Programme. The most extensive part of the thesis deals with the terms of classroom communication and interaction known as IRE or IRF. Based on the literature, the thesis focuses on initiation in the form of a question and describes the types of questions according to different typologies and tries to find out which teacher questions are most effective in classroom interaction. The practical part is based on video recordings of English language lessons at the second stage of primary school. This part analyses the questions based on the described typology and observes which types of teacher questions develop classroom communication and which, on the contrary, limit it.
Communication like an implement of education

The aim of the thesis is to describe and analyze the elements of communication by which teachers in practice try to make their teaching more effective. The author is monitor the variability of teacher communication with pupils in individual teaching hours depending on the given school classroom environment, the technical facilities of the classroom, the length of the teacher's practice and with regard to other variable phenomena and aspects related to this topic. The research itself is supported by semi-structured interviews with its participants, which illustrate the picture of the observed pedagogical situation. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part, basic theoretical knowledge on the topic of communication is processed. First from a general point of view and then from a specific point of view - communication in the school (school environment) taking into account all possible variables that affect such communication. The practical part then examine pedagogical communication in teaching hours at the lower and upper level of the grammar school - Gymnázium Bohumila Hrabala v Nymburce.
Dialog in education

This diploma thesis deals with the problematics of a dialogue in education and is divided into two parts - a theoretical and a practical one. The goal of this paper was to discuss what the content of the dialogue, between an educatee and a children´s home educator, is. The point was also to learn how these dialogues influence the mutual relationship of both the educator and the educatee. The theoretical part then points out on the explanation of the dialogue, it´s different conceptions and important aspects. The following chapter describes the man as a being who uses words and is endowed with speech. The theoretical part also describes the philosophy of a dialogue and explanation of important terms together with Socratic dialogues. The next part is dedicated to the representative of the philosophy of dialogue Martin Buber and to his piece of art I and Thou. Last chapters discuss in general the education in a children´s house. Furthermore a characteristics of a children´ s house and the profession of a children´s house educator is described in these chapters. The last chapter describes development of younger school-aged children, adolescence and early adulthood. The essence of the empirical part is a mixed research design, which contains the main qualitative research method - a semi-structured interview and the additional quantitative method - a questionnaire. The research of the problematics of the dialogue was carried out in a children´s house environment with two groups of respondents: the educatees and educators of the children´s house. The received data from both groups I compared to each other and in the conclusion of the paper there is a comparison of the compared data to the literature.
Communication of Preschool Children - the Analysis of Communication Functions and Expressions

This diploma thesis deals with communication of preschool children, in particular with analysis of communication functions of utterance. The aim of the research is to find out which types of communication functions preschool children mainly use. The theoretical part describes communication skills, language levels or ontogenesis of speech development. However, the key is to introduce the issue of each type of the communication utterance functions. The practical part is focused on the analysis of six audio recordings which have 30 minutes each. Within the recording with a voice recorder, dialogues among three research subjects were recorded. The dialogues were later on transcribed through the CHAT transcription method. Afterwards, types of the communication utterance functions were determined. The results of the qualitative research found out that the subjects primarily used the assertive, permissive or concessive functions (furthermore interrogative, directive, expressive and satisfactory function). All of these communication functions of utterance were stated directly. I collect, through audio recordings and online platforms, the culture of events that I attempt to reflect through my social strata, as well as the group of people who provide me with the material. I try to evoke a certain self-reflection in the viewer and show a different perspective on the issues associated with the topics mentioned. The output is action/installation.
Upbringing and education in the Martin Buber's work as dialog in the method of the encounter and the talk

The diploma thesis pursues problems of the philosophy of dialog in the 20th century with putting emphasis on this philosophy in the Martin Buber's work. Firstly this thesis pursues the term itself. Shortly it focuses on the Buber's contemporaries, namely Ferdinand Ebner and Franz Rosenzweig, who pursued simile problems. Then its attention will be focused on the Martin Buber's personality, describing his life, with putting emphasis on his Jewish roots of thinking. Next, the Buber's point of view on the philosophy of dialog will be analyzed as the encounter and talk. This is done on the base of the analysis of his work. Next aim is to Conner his way of dialog with relation to upbringing and encounter. There will be ilustrated concrete examples on the base of his work, where is shown the Buber's way of thinking specifically. The thesis reached the conclusion how to use the Martin Buber's work in the today's world with the aid of analysis, compilation and hermeneutic. Education, dialogue and totalitarianism in philosophical reflection

The purpose of the diploma thesis is to interpret the philosophical concepts of the education, dialogue and totality against the backdrop of the potential contemporary educational crisis. The thesis demonstrates the contributions of philosophy in characterisation of education. The topics were inspired by the question whether the formal education can develop the authentic thinking of an individual. The author aims to expose the original and justifiable assumptions of education and demonstrate the potential consequences of education perceived solely as a matter of formation and integration into pre-set social structures and mechanisms. The thesis exposes the very essence of education as the fundamental capability of entering dialogue and points out its need for a free yet responsible self-determination of a post-modern individual whose inherent ability to surpass own assumptions prevents the society from the rise of the totalitarian thinking. Modernity and holocaust

The thesis deals with the design of the Holocaust Documentation Centre in Moravia. Currently, there are several museums dealing with the Holocaust in our country, but none of them provides comprehensive documentation of the Holocaust. The proposal therefore seeks to create a museum that will be able to report on the Holocaust in a broader context and at the same time will be an attractive environment, especially for visitors living in the multimedia world of the 21st century.
Key Ideas of Franz Pöggeler's Andragogical Concept

This bachelor thesis deals with the key andragogical ideas of Franz Pöggeler. Pöggeler was an important German adult educator in the second half of the 20th century and he is considered to be one of the founders of andragogy as an independent scientific discipline. The thesis is primarily based on Pöggeler's major andragogical work, Erwachsenenbildung: Einführung in die Andragogik (Adult Education: Introduction to Andragogy), which was published in 1974. The aim of the thesis is to interpret and organise Pöggeler's key andragogical ideas and to provide an integrated view of his andragogical concept in the context of his era. The thesis also includes a critical assessment of Pöggeler's andragogical ideas.
