Thesis Abstract This final bachelor thesis consists of two parts, czech translation of the french text and its commentary. The first part of this thesis is a translation of one section of the French breedes guide L'Homme et le chien. Bien communiquer. written by french veterinarian and entomologist Patrick Pageat. In this first part which consists on translation, I focused on creating a comprehensible and straightforward text for the czech recipient. I perserved the essential function of the original text - to provide information and give to the breeders the useful advice. The second part of the work consists detailed translation analysis of the original text. Then I focus on individual translation issues that I had to deal with in the czech text. The conclusion of the work summarizes the methods used in translation and provides the typology of problems.

This thesis consists of a transaltion of a chapter written by the American feminist art historian Linda Nochlin called Women Artists Then and Now: Painting, Sculpture and the Image of the Self from Global Feminism: New Directions in Contemporary Art and a commentary on various aspects of the process. The concept of translation was created upon the basis of an extratextual and intratextual analysis, and the following principles for work with the text were layed down: The fact, that the percipient of the original and the translation text differ in their cultural backgrounds, is considered in the translation, and names which are less known in Europe are accompanied with intratextual explanatory notes. The publicistic genre disposes of different means in the source and the target languague. The high level of expresivity and subjectivity of the originial text is substituded by more formal means in Czech which, nonetheless, provide the same function and therefore represent functional substitution. These steps lead to preservation of the thematic content and the effect of the translation on the percipient is the same as that of the original text on the original reader.

This bachelor thesis consists of a translation from German into Czech, an expert commentary and an attachment - the original text. The commentary has four parts: translation analysis according to Christiane Nord, description of the translation method I chose for my translation, solutions of translation problems in the area of lexis, syntax, stylistics and pragmatics and the same typology of the shifts I have done during translating. The aim of the thesis is to present some articles of GEOEPOCHE and, at the same time, to show possibilities of working with a translated text and to solve translation problems so that they do not sound inappropriate in the final translation. Commented Translation: Measurements in Electrotechnics and Audiotechnics

Předmětem této práce je komentovaný překlad instruktá- žního textu používaného v univerzitních kurzech Měření v elektrotechnice a Měření v audiotechnice. Překlad byl vytvořen pro potřeby budoucích zahraničních studentů navštěvujících uvedené kurzy. Komentář uvádí důvody motivace k provedení překladu, překladatelské teorie a pohledy aplikované během překladu, potíže ke kterým v průběhu došlo a jejich individuální řešení, včetně konkrétních příkladů, a stručnou lingvistickou analýzu textu. Kromě samotného překladu tato práce představuje koncept slovníčků které by doprovázely každý laboratorní návod v textu. Finální verze překladu je připravena k posouzení, zda může být použita jako oficiální studijní materiál.

A commented translation of slovenian book: Jasmin B. Frelih Ideoluzije

The goal of this diploma thesis is to create an annotated Czech translation of a literary text. Specifically, the selected three short stories from the collection Ideoluzije (2015) by a Slovenian writer Jasmin B. Frelih. The stories chosen for translation are De Nachtwacht, Vrabci and Pritisk konca. The first part of the thesis briefly introduces the author and his work. The main focus of the work is the translation of selected short stories and creating a professional commentary. The theoretical-practical part deals with individual phenomena that may be problematic in translation, such as neologisms, vulgarisms, interjections, etc. The theoretical interpretation is supported by examples from the short stories. This thesis aims to clarify translation procedures and methods as well as to present solutions to the problems mentioned.

Commented translation of a text on science and technology

Cílem této semestrální práce je přeložení textu technického zaměření, z jazyka českého do anglického, k demonstrování překladatelských schopností autora. Dalším úkolem bylo okomentován problematiky překladu a rozdílů mezi těmito dvěma jazyky. Tato práce sestává ze dvou hlavních částí, vyjma úvodu a závěru. První částí je původní český text, zabývající se technickou problematikou a jeho překlad do angličtiny. Oba texty jsou obsaženy v semestrální práci kvůli možnosti porovnání. Tato část je v rámci rozsahu dominantní. Druhá, neméně, důležitá část této práce je komentář tohoto překladu, respektive rozdílu mezi překládanými jazyky. V této části je také popsán postup překladu, stejně tak jako lingvistické vlastnosti, jenž byly použity.

4 Abstract This bachelor thesis consists of two parts. The first is comprised of a side-by-side translation of the second chapter from book LIFE 3.0: Being Human in the Age of Artificial Intelligence by physicist and cosmologist Max Tegmark. The second part is a theoretical comment on the translation process with a scientific terminology glossary. The work focuses on the issue of insufficiently developed wordage of the Czech language in the means of fast-growing field of technology and informatics. The work pursues the methods of translation of words without a word-for-word variant in the Czech language. First part of the bachelor thesis consists of a translation from French into Czech of a large part of the essay "La Personne et le sacré" of the French author Simone Weil, that was published by Éditions Gallimard publishing house in 1957 as a part of the collection of essays and letters Écrits de Londres et dernières lettres. The second part of the thesis offers a commentary of the translation that begins by a source text analysis, then continues with a chapter on the translation concept, the translation problems and their solutions. Following are typologies of translation procedures and translation shifts.
