Theory vs. practicality - current state of television reportage on the ČT24 and CNN Prima NEWS channels with focus on the parlament election of 2021
Svoboda, Ondřej ; Lokšík, Martin (advisor) ; Géla, František (referee)
The goal of this magister thesis is to find out how much the current appearance of the genre of the "television news reportage" corresponds with theory. It also compares how much, if at all, it differentiates between the two main Czech news television channels - ČT24 and CNN Prima NEWS. The theoretical part describes the historical development of the genre, its current form according to theories and the "ideal" work methods of reporters. The practical part does not follow these problematics by the traditional way of content analysis, however - it instead tries to approach it "from the inside", through the optics of active journalists. Using grounded theory, it examines a sample comprising of six journalists, three from each media outlet. The target is to find out whether their view of the "reportage" genre corresponds with theory and whether or not they know about eventual connections. Using questions like "what makes a good 'reportage' in your opinion" or "what does your usual workday look like", it does not only confront theory with reality. It also compares the two media outlets in between one another. It mostly focuses on the experiences of chosen reporters during the parliamentary election of 2021.

Adamec, Martin ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Štoll, Martin (referee)
1 Annotation: Leoš Mareš - The Phenomenon of Czech Hosting The diploma thesis deals with one of the most notable personalities of Czech hosting - Leoš Mareš. There has been no relevant work or thesis on the academic (and also non-academic) level so far, so this is the first step in this direction. It is necessary to ask whether it is desirable that the chosen topic would be dealt with at this level. I have come up with a positive answer, for as the most successful hosting personalities (Larry King, Oprah Winfrey, Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Dick Cavett, Johannes B. Kerner) have an important role in society (like personalities from arts or politics) and studying of such phenomenon is completely natural for (at least) foreign theory and practice. In my opinion, every society should have an interest in knowing the distinct individuals who be can influential or enriching. For these reasons, I have decided, with regard to the focus of the study program, to devote the thesis to one of the most significant personalities of Czech hosting. If this thesis would be the basis for future professional or social discussion of selected personality or hosting in general, its purpose will certainly be fulfilled.

The aim of this thesis is to verify whether, and to what extent, children adopt this system of values presented by commercial advertising, as human value system is vital for one's development.

In its theoretical part the thesis defines fundamental themes and concepts based on literature, especially according to Pierre Bourdieu, Dick Hebdige and Michel Foucault. The concept of life-style has gained much importance in contemporary society, because it's actually the style of life which has become the most important principle of social clustering. One of the first sociologists to reflect on the concept of life-style was Pierre Bourdieu. His conception of life-style is based on stratification and social inequalities. These inequalities are - according to Bourdieu - the product of deep structural inequalities underlying the society as a whole.
