Pandemie covidu-19 s sebou kromě zdravotních rizik přinesla také narušení běžného způsobu života a všech jeho součástí. Ohrožovala tak pocit ontologického bezpečí, který umožňuje jedinci důvěřovat ve stálost svoji i svého okolí. Tento pocit je nedílnou součástí života v moderní společnosti a je posilován mnoha faktory, mezi které patří i televize a její obsah, například v podobě televizních seriálů. Tato diplomová práce zkoumá způsoby, kterými pravidelní diváci českých seriálů využívali jejich sledování jako zdroj jistoty a bezpečí v době, která byla charakteristická narušením známého a vytvářením nejistoty. V první části práce jsou představena zásadní teoretická východiska, mezi která patří ontologické bezpečí, každodennost, kulturální studia a dílo Rogera Silverstona zaměřené na chápání televize jako zdroje ontologického bezpečí. Druhá část práce představuje metodologii provedeného kvalitativního výzkumu, který tvořily hloubkové rozhovory s pravidelnými diváky českých televizních seriálů. Třetí část práce pak představuje výsledky výzkumu a jejich vyhodnocení. Z výpovědí respondentů vyplynul centrální motiv v podobě jistoty, kterou jim sledování seriálů dlouhodobě poskytuje a jejíž potřeba byla v období pandemie zvýšena. Tato jistota se projevovala různými formami, od začleňování seriálů do... In addition to the health risks, the covid-19 pandemic has disrupted the normal way of life and all its parts. It threatened the sense of ontological security that allows individuals to trust in the permanence of themselves and their environment. This feeling is an integral part of life in modern society and is reinforced by many factors, including television and its content, for example in the form of television series. This thesis explores the ways in which regular viewers of selected Czech television series and soap operas used their viewing as a source of reassurance and security in a time characterised by the disruption of the familiar and the creation of uncertainty. The first part of the thesis introduces key theoretical frameworks, including ontological security, everyday life, cultural studies and Roger Silverstone's work on understanding television as a source of ontological security. The second part of the thesis presents the methodology of the conducted qualitative research, which consisted of in-depth interviews with regular viewers of selected Czech television series and soap operas. The third part of the thesis presents the results of the research and their interpretation.
