Spatial choices of animals based on abstract visual stimuli: Configuration or shape?
Nekovářová, Tereza ; Bureš, Jan (advisor) ; Syka, Josef (referee) ; Kršiak, Miloslav (referee) ; Frynta, Daniel (referee)
Spatial cognition as a model for study of learning, memory and problem solving has a long history in neurosciences. This cognitive ability is used for several reasons. Firstly, the ability to form the inner representation of a space, to orient in an environment, to perceive positions of prominent objects and of other animals is essential for all mammals and birds. Thus it is natural for animals to perform such behavior even in experimental conditions. Secondly, it is possible to compare spatial cognition of different species in similar tasks. And thirdly, there are strong indices of the possible neuroanatomical substrate and mechanism underlying spatial cognition. There are different strategies of navigation in an environment, which could be distinguished by different criterions. They differ in the frames of reference in which the observer operates, i.e. whether the co-ordinates are centered in a subject (egocentric orientation) or whether the co-ordinates encode only the relations between objects and dominants in the environment and they are not dependent on observer (geocentric orientation). The navigational strategies also differ by the type of cues that are used for navigation. In allothetic orientation the subject employs external landmarks, which may be not only visual stimuli, but also the stimuli of...

Teachers in the labyrint of rules - case study
Hrbek, Martin ; Bittnerová, Dana (advisor) ; Levínská, Markéta (referee)
Case study, which finds sources of inspiration in Educational Ethnography, inquires into the relation teacher-school and into observing or breaking formal and informal rules in environment of formal organization. The group which is the study about is a team of teachers at one secundary school. The problem is regarded from several points of view: knowledge about sociology of formal organization and bureaucracy, knowledge about social rules and Foucault's concept of disciplinary space. The process of data gathering used participant observation, autoethnography and interviews with 14 informants. The interviews were analysed using open coding. The aim was to find out how the formal rules of organization are or are not observed, how the formal rules are transformed into informal rules and what is the character of other informal rules. From this, level of informants' identification with formal organization can be discovered. The study shows those processes in spheres of teachers' job evaluation, school's order maintaining and rules of communication among teachers. Some of the formal rules are observed some are not. Some of those rules are transformed into informal rules which are observed. Displacement of goals takes places in malfunction of some of the formal rules. Some of other formal rules are...

The automatic image as a translation of life-world
Halák, Jan ; Novotný, Karel (referee) ; Petříček, Miroslav (advisor)
The automatic image as a translation oj life-world The author's aim is to trace down the basic tendencies of phenomenality, introduced into the lifeworld by means of the automatic image, by understending this medium as a translation of the style of appearing of beings. He joins the critique of the modem understanding of being as the presence in the consciousness of subject and discems a parallel between the modem repraesentatio and the photographic image. By criticising the conception od V. Flusser, the paper (meanwhile negatively) disawovs the possibility of eliminating the corporeity and the non-positivity of meaning by means of the photographic image. The paper then analyses the specific space oj the image as this is its medium of revealing. This pictorial space is principally determinned by perspective projection, yet this is what eliminates the corporeity (chair) of both recipient and the world - and due to this the non-positivity of the field of appearence of things. Newertheless the projection preserves the topologic dimension of the space of the image. The autor then focuses on the Merleau-Ponty' s conception of "vertical Being" and attempts to trace down the relation between the topologic arrangement and the chiasma of perceptive perspectives. To deliver the photographic image from its strictly...

The Semiotics of Han Tombs
Laštovková, Andrea ; Šafaříková, Radana (advisor) ; Nešpor, Zdeněk (referee)
The master thesis called "Semiotics Han Tombs" does not only deal with the semiotics view of space of Han dynasty tombs, when we are examining the number of structures, which are permeating Han graves, we find structures of the world of man living in China, but this process also points to problems of culture interpretation which cultural semiotics helps to eliminate. Problems associated with the sign plays an important role in shaping the very cultural and social identity. The issue of understanding and interpretation of cultures occurs at the time when we select certain features or characters from the structure of a culture to freely create a system without having analyzed the real culture. Always all these elements must be considered in the context of the overall system or structure, or we only deal with empty concepts or definitions. In other words, we do not see the whole picture. Han tomb as a text is polysemous and in many respects incomprehensible. However, the creation, reading and semiosis takes place in it and it is the statement of understanding of this world. So revealing the speaker's worldview depends on the process of interpretation, because the statement may involve a degree of ideological connotations which determined the interpretation independently on the previous coding. Key...

Visualization of problems of motion on a graph
Koupý, Petr ; Holan, Tomáš (referee) ; Surynek, Pavel (advisor)
A software tool visualizing the movement of entities on a graph is presented in this thesis. Such model is often used to abstract environment where the given set of entities must be reordered from an initial to a certain goal configuration in space. Software solvers of these problems usually produce suboptimal solutions in the textual form, which is generally hard to explore by a human. Thus, the visualization tool can be utilized by a researcher when analyzing the quality of such solutions. In order to visualize solutions, the presented tool handles a set of problems - embedding the graph into a plane, controlling the animation, capturing the output to images or video files, managing colors and validating movements in the solution. The thesis provides detailed information about the implementation of the tool including the choice of suitable algorithms, architecture and technologies.

These processes are resulting in a concept of culture and creative industries which represent a new kind of symbiosis between culture and economy. The study...
