European Union - A Global Actor?
Mizerová, Iva ; Urban, Luděk (advisor) ; Weiss, Tomáš (referee)
European Union participates recently in a great number of global affairs and its presence could be felt in many spheres of political and business life. It is thus often referred to as a global actor or global power, and its influence is widely praised. The goal of this paper is to determine, if the European Union in its current state really constitutes a global actor. This fact is examined in theoretical as well as in practical circumstances. This paper further aims to establish, whether this position is constant, or develops in time. As the European Union is neither a state, nor an international organisation, it is firstly set within the framework of the predominant international relations theories. Having taken this enlistment into consideration, it is then established, what kind of unit it actually is in the international system, and if it is hence in fact possible that such an entity could be a global actor. Subsequently, the leading actorness theories are applied to establish what kind of actorness it could perform. In the end of this part, it is assessed what kind of role the European Union actually plays in the theoretical field. Consequently, this allegation is examined in the practical terms. On the basis of facts, examples and actual events, it is thus evaluated, if the practical actions of the...

Jan Onghers
Lešovský, Dalibor ; Horyna, Martin (referee) ; Preiss, Pavel (advisor)
Jan Onghers, who was born in Mechelen, comes to Prague at the end of 1 i h century. In the coming top baroque era, Prague becomes a homeland for many foreigners. Halbax and Bys live in Bohemia only for a several years but for Onghers Prague grows into a homeland. Over his Dutch roots he becomes an integral ingredient of the Czech baroque painting. Karel Skreta and Petr Brandl have an influence to Onghers work which testify his acceptation into the Czech art. Onghers production doesn't prove a lot of invention. The acceptation of the Venice darkshine principles with the northern origin would mark his coming to artistic community. His activity wasn't awarded like BrandIs and Reiners work was. Costumers interest and connection withwitth the Old Town painters guild testify a significant effect for forming the baroque style.

Classification of Testing Maneuvers from Flight Data
Funiak, Martin ; Dittrich, Petr (referee) ; Chudý, Peter (advisor)

Regulation of financial markets in international context
Nistorenco, Taisia ; Žamberský, Pavel (advisor) ; Jiránková, Martina (referee)
This diploma thesis comprises a theoretical, descriptive, comparative and econometric analysis of financial markets regulation in international context. In the first chapter I describe and analyse characteristics of modern financial markets, reasons for their regulation and institutional models of financial regulation and supervision. The second chapter offers an overview of the historical development of financial regulation and evaluates the role of regulatory factor in the outburst of the world financial crisis of 2008. In the third chapter I carry out a comparison of regulatory response to financial crisis in the USA and the EU. Forth chapter deals with regression analysis of the relation between Financial Soundness Indicators of three selected countries. The conclusions driven from this diploma thesis demonstrate that regulation is generally effective as a remedy for market failures, but in other aspects its effects are ambiguous. Intensity of regulation is a secondary impact factor in the formation of financial crises, in fact it is more reasonable to state that crises occur because of the failure of supervision rather than regulation. Due to the international attempts to harmonise the process of remediation of the consequences of the financial crisis, the regulatory response in the USA and the EU was very similar. Statistical analysis did not confirm the common idea that regulation represents a significant barrier for increasing the profitability of credit institutions.

Music as a Value of Human's life
Studená, Hana ; Procházková, Jana (advisor) ; Kucharská, Anna (referee)
The thesis considers an issue of the value of music in a human life. In the theoretical section the author interprets the term music and its roles in human life using available literature. Moreover, she focuses on the influence of a music on human psyche, in context of emotions, thinking, fantasy and motivation. The author also deals with the description of musical development of a personality. The author is also attentive to issues of values and value orientation in a human life. In the empirical section the author works with three groups of respondents; namely, with active musicians (i. e. playing a musical instrument or singing). She included professional musicians (group of students of music) and amateur musicians (group of working people with a musical hobby and a group of university students with a musical hobby). There are 33 respondents in the sample aged from 20 to 30. The comparison of these groups is based on the method of halfstructured interview. Issues of the development of musical activities and influences that mattered in this development, a motivation to musical activities, an influence of musical activity on personal life of the respondents (especially in context of relationships), a value and function of a music in an overall value orientation of respondents are compared. Utilization of endophytic microorganisms for growth promotion of Miscanthus
Mrnka, Libor ; Frantík, Tomáš ; Schmidt, Christoph Stephan ; Lovecká, P.
Increased survival and aboveground biomass yield of Miscanthus was achieved due to the inoculation of Miscanthus seedlings by a mixed inocula based on the selected endophytic microbes (bacteria and fungi). Inoculated treatments produced 20-90% higher yield of biomass compared to the controls. Importantly, fungal inoculum increased also production of rhizomes and the same trend was observed in the treatment inoculated by the bacterial mixture. Bacterial endophytes also strongly augmented overwintering of the plants on one of the tested model plantations. Because the price of the inocula production is economically feasible and does not substantially increase the plantation establishment costs we hope for fast implementation of the methodology both in CR and beyond.

Moment-tensor inversion of earthquakes in Greece, method ISOLA
Červinková, Dana ; Šílený, Jan (referee) ; Zahradník, Jiří (advisor)
3 Title: Moment-tensor inversion of earthquakes in Greece, method ISOLA Author: Dana Červinková Department: Department of Geophysics Supervisor: Prof. RNDr. Jiří Zahradník, DrSc. Supervisor's e-mail address: jz@karel.troja.mff.cuni.cz Abstract: The possibility of obtaining a reliable moment tensor using a low-frequency waveform inversion from a single seismic station is studied. Deviatoric part of the moment tensor is described in usual way, using its orientation (angles strike, dip, rake), scalar seismic moment M0 and the double-couple percentage (DC%), and also by means of the coefficients of linear combination of elementary mechanisms. We estimate the formal error of the coefficients and study conditionality of the inverse problem. Data from earthquakes Trichonis (Mw = 5.2, April 2007) and Leonidio (Mw = 6.2, January 2008), Greece, are processed using software ISOLA (Sokos and Zahradník). The moment tensor is calculated from many stations and its stability is tested. This reference solution is compared to those independently obtained from single stations. Synthetic tests are performed to understand why the single-station estimates are sufficient for Trichonis, but not for Leonidio, paying attention to the focal depth, station azimuth and epicentral distance. It is found that the depth is crucial at...

Reconstruction and model of postglacial spread of subgenus Alnus in Europe
Jelenová, Hana ; Barták, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Mandák, Bohumil (referee)
Many paradoxes exist about postglacial tree migration and they dont solve for many European trees. One example is wetland trees subgenus Alnus, which spread across Europe during the last glacial very quickly according to fossil records. The aim of this thesis is detection their migration potential, with the help of empirical evaluation of interpolated pollen data (interpolation method IDW) and a simulation model based on environmental characteristics of the species. The results of interpolated maps are similar to the rate previously estimated speed and the results of simulation model achieve these speeds only by A. incana but with specific extreme environmental conditions. The mason of this may be adapting its seeds to anemochorii because the simulation model confirmed their good potential to spread by the wind. Results of model for A. glutinosa don´t confirm the ability to rapidly spread by the wind and the observed rate must have another explanation. Maybe rivers can explain the empirical spread rate. This suggests visualization of migration lines and river networks. The model has also been disclosure of environmental properties that are related to migration potential. Within the parameterization of the model is demonstrated, that R0 of A. glutinosa is significantly better than A. incana. But main parameters of anemochory model are terminal velocity and generation time, which is shorter by the A. incana, and therefore is probably able to spread faster than A. glutinosa.
