Objektiv-travel magazine of the Czech television
Brodcová, Daniela ; Lokšík, Martin (advisor) ; Šobr, Michal (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the travel magazine Objektiv and wider theoretical background of travel programs. Although these magazines are major components of television journalism, especialy in terms of social and cultural benefits, there have not been devoted much space in the proffesional literature to them yet. Therefore the theoretical part of this thesis closely specifies its genre anchorage within the television production and is dedicated to their characteristic features. The main object of studying is the magazine Objektiv, whose first episode broadcasted Czechoslovak television in 1987. It is therefore the oldest czech travel program with continually lasting tradition. In the examination the author applies the knowledge defined in the first part of the thesis and information obtained by interviewing its creators. She deals with its formation and development, then focuses on various aspects of the implementation of the program, for example deals with its way of getting the reportage materials and dramaturgy of the magazine. Subsequently, these elements are explored by using quantitative content analysis. On the basis of the obtained results it is described how the magazine Objektiv currently fulfills its task and found if it provides a balanced content in every way. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Towards the Boundaries of Fictional Narrative
Pčola, Marián ; Glanc, Tomáš (advisor) ; Svatoň, Vladimír (referee) ; Derlatka, Tomasz (referee)
My thesis examines the nature of contemporary fictional narration and explores its relations to other types of narration - mainly texts where educational or informative function prevails over the aesthetic one. The whole work is divided into four parts. The first part is theoretical; it sets up basic areas of interest and names methods, tools and models that will be tested on selected examples from Slavonic literatures. The second part analyses spatial and temporal relations of fictional narrative. Chapter 2.1 treats time and space in a novel mostly from the compositional point of view (based on the example of Sasha Sokolov's A School for Fools), while in the next chapter, focusing on ideational interconnections between literary and social- political utopias, both fictionality and temporality are understood more broadly than mere narrative categories: they serve as certain points of connection between the immanent occurrence of meaning in the "world of text" and its historical background. The third part continues in this direction, only what we mean by context here is not the collective historical background, but an individual sphere of everyday life. Our focus switches to two genres standing on the boundary of literary fiction and non-fiction - personal correspondence and a travel journal (travelogue). The...
Current trends in the genre travelogue
Kittnarová, Hana ; Mocná, Dagmar (advisor) ; Peterka, Josef (referee)
The aim of this work is to map, capture and enlighten the contemporary phenomenon of travel and travelogue, and introduce it as a still alive and evolving literary genre. This is illustrated by the analysis of contemporary Czech periodicals, blogs, websites and several literary works of this nature. The work, based on this analysis, creates their genre typology. The results show that there is a retreat of lyrical and poetic type, while the current is a form of narrative and novelistic travelogue, in which a subjective description and personal tone predominates and the position of the author - narrator is strengthened. Contemporary literary production of travelogue genre is very broad and findings of this work describe the current status and trends, which tend to mix and combine genres, incorporating travelogue into fiction and enriching it with new elements through differentiation of ideas and interests of travelers. The educative extent of travelogue in contemporary works is often taken aback, or is thanks to fictionalization appropriately incorporated into the text.

Balcarová, Eva ; Voldřichová - Beránková, Eva (advisor) ; Hrbata, Zdeněk (referee)
DOMINIQUE VIVANT DENON - FROM TRAVELS IN ITALY TO THE LOUVRE MUSEUM. TOWARD A TYPOLOGY OF THE 18TH CENTURY TRAVELOGUE. Keywords: travelogue, 18th century, libertine culture, Italy, Egypte, Napoleon, Louvre. Number of characters: 121 846 (68 pages) The present thesis, Dominique Vivant Denon - From travels in Italy to the Louvre Museum is divided into two parts. The first one is a monograph on baron Vivant Denon, an important figure of the cultural life in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, the author of Point de Lendemain, two travelogues, Voyage dans la Basse et la Haute Égypte and Voyage en Sicile, but, primarily, Napoleon's advisor in the field of fine art and the first director of The Louvre. The introductory pages of the thesis deal with the reception of Denon's works. There is a certain flux in the perception of Denon's oeuvre which has given rise to a range of interesting issues. One of them, the popularity of the libertine culture of pre-revolutionary France in the second half of the twentieth century, accounts for the fact that the novella Point de Lendemain is today the best known piece among Denon's extensive and multifaceted writings. A shift in the perception of the travelogue as a literary genre in our time, when the remotest of places are accessible in hours, may be...

The image of rural france in the travel diary of Arthur Young
Borodáčová, Jana ; Klusáková, Luďa (advisor) ; Tinková, Daniela (referee)
The author makes an analysis of the book of travels by Arthur Young who from a position of a physiocrat observed and explored the economic situation of French country during his three journeys in 1787 /1788 and 1789/90. The traveller used his own experience of agronomist and he supplemented his observation with information from local landed proprietors who were interested in agronomics. He also broadened his horizons via conversations with his French friends . When he conducted a survey of conditions of French country he used his method of statistics which he introduces during his preceding research journeys in England and Ireland. But the traveller omitted the social side of the country life when using this method. The characteristic of this method was abridged of a general opinion of educated Enlightenment class. The work of Arthur Young is also a typical Enlightenment book of travels even thought the aim of his journey the author broke out of traditional destinations. The traveller delimited himself distinctivelly nationally in the French environment and for this reason he expressed his opinions from a position of Englishman. This feature is characteristic of the whole contents of the book of travels, no mater if he adressed himself to agriculture, behaviour and customs of French society or to...
