Competitive anxiety in female gymnasts: Association with age and length of sports career

Title: Competitive anxiety in female gymnasts: Association with age and length of sports career Objectives: The main aim of the diploma thesis is to describe levels of competitive anxiety and its association to age and length of sports career in young female gymnasts from Prague. Methods: The thesis has a character of empirical and theoretical research and includes elements of quantitative research with an application of a survey. Specifically the thesis represents a cross-sectional study. A multidimensional questionnaire, the Competitive state anxiety investory-2 was administered to a sample of N = 18 female gymnasts. The questionnaire consists of three subscales measuring: somatic anxiety, cognitive anxiety, self-confidence. Data were analyzed using basic descriptive statistics, and the Pearson correlation coefficient was used to examine the hypotheses about relationships. Results: The results have shown that age is related to somatic and cognitive anxiety, whereas both components of competitive anxiety increase with increasing age. On the other hand age was not associated with self- confidence. The length of sports career was positively associated with somatic anxiety and self-confidence, however was not related to cognitive anxiety. Self-concept of teacher's profession.

The diploma thesis deals with selected issues of self-concept of a primary school teacher. The theoretical part deals mainly with the issue of concepts related to self-concept and their clarification. The empirical part had the task of tracing important moments, people and phases leading to the formation of attitudes and ideas of what teachers have about themselves. During professional development, the construction of teachers' identity and self-confidence was crucial. The survey was qualitatively oriented and carried out through the analysis of the life history of teachers. By open coding, the narration of the respondents was divided into 5 main categories. The research of life stories led to expected and surprising findings and resulted in a draft recommendation for undergraduate teachers' training. Knowledge, Attitudes and Self-confidence of the General Public in Relation to Epilepsy

The theoretical part of the thesis aims to define the key terms concerning epilepsy, and to specify the knowledge, attitudes and self-confidence both generally and in the context of the disease. The theoretical part is going to include a survey study of the knowledge of the general population about epilepsy and their attitudes towards the disease. The goal of the research part is to establish a connection between the reported knowledge, self-confidence and attitudes in relation to epilepsy in a random sample of adults not suffering from epilepsy. The results are going to be discussed and compared with the specialist literature.
Upbringing of an only child

The thesis deals with the issue of singletons. Its main question is directed to the childhood of singletons and its importance for the whole life of a human. It wonders whether the childhood of singletons affects humans in adulthood, or in which areas and which way. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and part of the research. In the first part basic terms are defined which constitute the basis for the second part of the work. The research part of the work is more extensive and forms the core of the thesis. It is a qualitative research. Biographical design, specifically the realistic biography, has been used as the most appropriate research plan. First, three interviews were made and processed - depth probes of the respondents who grew up as the singletons. The analysis of the probes divided the interview into three stages: childhood upbringing, the upbringing of their own children and self-education. After processing the individual parts of the research, the final synthesis revealed that the childhood of the respondents and the fact of being an only child had a significant impact on their overall life. Influence on the formation of self-concept school pupil to 1 primary school

The work is focused on influence of schools on pupil's self-concept formation at primary school. It captures the different influences of the school and the school surrounding at shaping of the self-concept of the pupil. The theoretical part maps the internal and external that influences at pupils at school. It deals with defining of self- concept as one of the special feature of personality self development, focusing on the pupils at primary schools, which influances at success at school and self-concept formation. This work presents the various effects of schools and school surrounding that are important for the development of pupils' self-concept. At the same time the work shows the possibility of the development of a healthy self-concept of pupils at elementary school. The practical part explores the self-concept of pupils at the end of the third and fifth year. The practical tries to determine the relationship between success at school and self-concept of the pupil in the primary school. There is information about pupils' maening of success at school, if success at school is important for them. It also researches which of the various influences of school is the most important and how it differ self-consept of the pupils of the third and fifth grade.
Prestige, Self-Conception and Problems of Teacher's Profession

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to describe the specifics, prestige and self-conception of the teacher's profession. The study is divided into two major parts. The theoretical part describes important characteristics and requirements of the teacher's profession. It also presents difficulties of teaching that covers uncertainty of success based on the specific teacher-pupil relation and the contradiction of teacher's roles caused by various expectations. The next issue is to analyse teachers' self-conception that covers the lack of self-confidence. The thesis reveals some of the reasons of low self-esteem. It is focused on the different perception of prestige by teachers and the public. The empirical part of this study is based on the questionnaire survey conducted among the teachers.
