Educational problems of children in a difficult life situation

This thesis is focused on educational problems of children in a difficult life situation. The theoretical part deals with social pedagogical concept of a difficult situation in life. It also goes about coping of those situations and their specifics in children. It focuses on child endangerment of his family background and its consequences and symptoms at school. It also describes the various teachers' approaches to the child's situation. The practical part using qualitative research methods, in-depth interviews and document analysis examines the concrete manifestation of difficult life situations from the perspective of three children and their teachers with emphasis on their understanding, assessment and approach to this situation. The difficult life situation of children showed on many levels at school. It revelas at the level of relations with classmates, at the level of behavior, school performance, relationship to the teacher, etc. Teachers' attitudes were mostly responsive and supportive. Role of a teaching assistant in the matter of support for pupils with barriers in learning

The aim of this dissertation is to describe the role of teaching assistants in the matter of support for pupils with barriers in learning at primary school. In the theoretical part, the main focus is on legislative anchoring of teaching assistant's position, on establishing the responsibilities and the content of teaching assistant's work, on methodical support which is provided by schools' headmasters or particular organisations, on support for teachers and on discovered benefits that are secured by the role of teaching assistant. Everything mentioned is placed in contrast with the scholar system in Great Britain, especially with the way the local authorities deal with the post of teaching assistant. The empirical part of the dissertation explore the cooperation of teaching assistant and teacher by using the method of in-depth interview with teaching assistants and observation their work in class. The result of the dissertation is showing the evidence of teaching assistant's importance in educational process and his/her help and support for teacher. The Prestige of Teachers Occupation

Thesis deals with the prestige of the teaching profession. Its main goal is to try to find out how teachers themselves perceive the prestige connected with their profession. The research consisted of in-depth semi-structured interviews with teachers on this issue and their subsequent analysis. It turned out that although teachers occupy on occupational prestige scales regularly top positions within the interviews they spoke about very low prestige connected with their occupation. The thesis also presents and describes in detail the factors based on analysis of interviews which emerged in connection with low self-esteem of teachers in terms of prestige as a major. This mainly concerns the relatively low income and the related lower standard of living, which forces teachers to have a secondary income. Furthermore, the analysis showed that teachers low self-esteem is affected by alleged lower difficulty of faculties of education, difficult assesment of work results and underastimated difficulty of work from the publics point of view. Not forgetting the little influence of educational unions and the lack of professional organizations that defend the interests of teachers. Motivation of High School Students for School Work

Many secondary school teachers are currently facing students' lack of interest in the subjects taught. Research findings have also repeatedly shown that students' motivation for school work decreases as the length of the studies increases. Furthermore, students' level of motivation reaches a very low level during adolescence despite the fact that many of them make choices regarding their future careers. This thesis focuses on the relation between the motivation of students for school work and the attitudes and skills of teachers - their educational styles, and whether the relationship between students and them is positive or negative. The theoretical part of this paper introduces and describes the above mentioned concepts - educational styles and motivation - or more precisely, what kinds of motivation there are, and how these affect not only the learning process itself, but also the performance, results, and performance goals, all of which are closely linked. The practical part consists of a research investigation focused on verifying the link between students' motivation for school work and the educational styles used by their teachers. The aim of the diploma thesis is to map out the important issues that affect the lifestyles of teenagers, mainly in relation to the secondary school environment, school documents, such as ŠVP, RVP, high-risk behavior and the influence of subcultures. The special topic of this diploma thesis is to analyze the teaching mathematics at a particular secondary school related to the healthy lifestyles of the current student's population. The diploma thesis also focuses on the important aspect of this topic, the interaction teacher - pupil, the aim of this section is to document and analyze whether the students perceive their teacher's approach to a healthy lifestyle and whether it's something that personally affects them. Methodological Teaching Goals Of The Museum Education For Development Of The Cooperation Between Schools And Museums

This work presents a complex analysis of the methodological teaching goals with regard to the museum education, in the context of cooperation between schools and museums from the humanistic concept of education perspective. The subject of the work is based on the assumption that certain methodological goals entail a significant feature for educational planning and implementation, and they also are one of the instruments of the functional development cooperation between the two institutions. The theoretical part of thesis deals with the methodological goal as a follow-up to the museum education definition. It is not only essential to find a concept of the term - teaching goal, but also to analyse the content of the museum education goals; so it's the work analysis of a museum pedagogue and his/her goals towards other components in the museum education process. The emphasis is put also on the issue of autoevaluation regarding the educational results. Last but not least the work focusses on the historical perspective as well. A teacher's vocational load in variant cultures

This thesis is dealing with workload that teachers face in their profession, and focuses on secondary school teachers in the Czech Republic and New Zealand. The theoretical part presents topics of secondary school, culture, load and teacher workload based on available scientific Czech and foreign sources. This part discusses both theoretical principles and research done in these fields. The empirical part proposes a research project on appreciation of secondary school teachers in the Czech Republic and New Zealand. This project focuses on appreciation by students' parents and therefore seeks to explore one of the factors responsible for teacher workload. The aim of this thesis is to present the issue of teacher vocational load (or workload) and to offer an intercultural perspective that could be useful in this field.
