The Periodic table of elements exhibition as a teaching aid

The thesis is focused on creation of helpful didactic material for a field trip for exposition Periodic table of elements in the Chemistry section at the Faculty of Science, Charles University. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with research of curricular documents for elementary schools and grammar schools with regard to the periodic table of elements and field trips. Consequently the topic of worksheets is elaborated. A practical part consists of a description of worksheets creation, discussion about tasks we have chosen and respective correct solutions. Two versions of worksheets were created. The version for elementary schools contains 11 tasks and the version for secondary schools contains 12 tasks.

The diploma thesis entitled Let's revive recent history… or how to teach contemporary history in secondary schools is conceived in the form of a methodological manual for secondary school teachers who would like to understand their teaching of contemporary history in an interesting, research and effective way. It outlines the obstacles due to which teachers avoid contemporary history, and compares and evaluates history textbooks, which are among the most commonly used in teaching at secondary schools. It is also clear here how much space is devoted to contemporary history in these textbooks and which topics of contemporary history are preferred by the framework educational program. The work is focused on Czechoslovak and Czech contemporary history, for which it offers the possibility of using various Internet platforms, which are directly intended for teachers or from them can draw inspiration for their teaching. Last but not least, it also offers several activities involving working with sources or other period artifacts that can be used in class. Incorporating gender issues into EFL lessons

The purpose of this thesis is to design, implement and evaluate lessons oriented towards gender issues. The theoretical part of this thesis introduces the topic of gender and places it in the school context. It addresses gender-sensitive education and the courses of action by which gender issues can be integrated into teaching. Furthermore, this part deals with the methodology of content-based approaches. Finally, it presents the lesson planning process based on the Six-Ts method and lesson reflection using the ALACT model. The practical part consists of planning sample lessons and designing students' worksheets, both oriented towards gender issues. The sample lessons were consequently piloted in Business Academy Heroldovy Sady. The evaluation of their progress is also included in this section, together with practical recommendations for similar lessons based on personal teaching experience. Lastly, the thesis notes that teachers of English and other foreign languages can raise awareness of gender issues in their lessons while developing students' language skills. Themes for Nature Excursions for Pupils of Grammar Schools in Ústí Region

The objective of this diploma thesis was to create suggestions of biological excursions for the pupils of the second grade of elementary schools in Ústí nad Labem region. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, excursion as the organisational form of education with the focus on the specifics of biological excursion including the educational goals and methods, is shortly introduced. In the following part, there is the characteristic of scientific disciplines and particular types of biological excursions. The practical part presents suggestions for three biological excursions. Each of the suggested subjects contains detailed manual for preparation and the process of excursion itself including the final part. Materials including the description of the route, information about the locality, worksheets including answers and additional information to each of the questions are also incorporated. Getting to know the realities of the region as part of the primary school

Science and social science curriculum in primary school can be introduced several ways. One of them is regional approach. Thesis brings a contemporary view to the implementation of the regional curriculum for teaching in primary school education in the Man?s world and offers concrete ways to bring the student curriculum. A comprehensive overview of the microregion enables teachers to facilitate the design of curriculum and offers him the possibility of finding a new forms and methods of work in education. Nature trail is one of the options on how to effectively bring knowledge of the microregion to pupil. Information on nature trail can be multilaterally used. Appropriate teaching materials are worksheets related to the nature trail and the immediate surroundings of the pupil.
The Use of Hluchov Floodplain Forest and Houšťka Park Forest in Tuition of Natural History and Biology

The diploma thesis deals with the use of the localities Houšťka Forest Park and Hluchov Floodplain Forest in the teaching of natural history at the 2nd level of primary schools, biology at the lower levels of grammar schools and at vocational secondary schools. Part of the theoretical part is a description of natural conditions and history of the site, the division into habitats and their characteristics. Furthermore, an inventory and description of plant species, including a list of zoological taxa, was performed for the needs of teachers. The questionnaire survey among teachers was focused on the use of localities during regular lessons, or compulsory optional subjects focused on natural history. The time required for the worksheets was based on the results of this survey. The didactic part includes the issue of interdisciplinary relationships, enumeration and description of forms and methods used in the teaching of science and biology. The main part of this part of the thesis are worksheets, which are in addition to consolidating knowledge of natural sciences and biology focused on the application of knowledge from other subjects such as mathematics, physics. Pre-writing and Pre-reading Developmental Skills in Preschools with the "Step by Step" Programme and a Traditional Preschool Programme

This diploma thesis is focused on discovering pre-writing and pre-reading developmental skills in preschools with the "Step by Step" programme and a traditional preschool programme. The theoretical part is focused on explaining school maturity and school readiness, analysing pre-writing and pre-reading skills, analysing Framework Education Programme for Preschools within the frame of these skills and introduction of working principals in preschools with a "Step by Step" programme. The aim of the practical part of this diploma thesis was to discover the preschool children's level of pre-writing and pre-reading developmental skills with the "Step by Step" programme in comparison with a traditional preschool programme. Data were collected by using a mixed method research design: a questionnaire, an observation, worksheets and didactic games were used. One hundred and eight children participated in this research in September 2018. The research was repeated in May 2019 with participation of one hundred and five children. Eleven teachers filled up the questionnaire. The research results shown that the children from preschools with "Step by Step" gained better results overall when filling worksheets in comparison with the children from preschools following the traditional preschool programme in September...
