GM crops and the third world

The inhabitants of the Third World have to deal with problems such as population explosion, undernourishment, poverty and morbidity. The Green Revolution saved millions of people from hunger through the introduction of specially bred varieties of cereal in combination with mineral fertilization. The transition from the Green Revolution to the Genetic Revolution, which consists in the introduction of transgenic crops prepared using genetic engineering techniques, could represent the future for developing countries. The work deals with the issue of transgenic crops in developing countries. The first part deals with problems of the Third World, the second part with transgenic crops, specifically the preparation process of these crops, their present and potential use in developing countries and potential risks. The third part includes analysis of the Framework Education Programme for Secondary General Education and analysis of selected textbooks.
Pharmacy in chemistry curriculum for secondary education

Abtract The thesis deals with integration of the topic Medicine and Pharmacy into secondary education curriculum. The work is divided into four parts. First part pursues the content of medicine in the curriculum documents. Second part is devoted to comparison of educational systems in the Czech Republic and Slovenia and analysis of Czech and Slovenian textbooks for secondary schools. Third part contains special texts for teachers of secondary schools. It also includes basic information about pharmacy as well as other materials, which can be used in education. Thesis also contains ten laboratory works.
Journals of teaching history as a practical methodical support to Czechoslovak teachers of history in the period 1948-1970

This master thesis deals with history teaching from 1948 up to 1970. The main focus is not put on the way how the teaching looked really like, but it deals with the teaching methods how history should be taught. The major sources are journals of education for history teaching, mostly Dějepis ve škole and the preceding and following journals. The basic question is whether the magazines could have really helped the teachers in terms of teaching methodology and what was this support like. In the first chapter the history of education is described, the second chapter deals with the journals of education for history teaching. Next is described how a lesson should look like, the whole-class presentation, examination, revision, using a textbook. Special chapter deals with various tools for history teaching, including maps, images, audiovisual aids and literature. Moreover there is covered regional history, excursions, cooperation with museums and archives. In the end the basic question is answered; the journals were able to help the teachers well, many interesting and inspiring articles were in them. Assesment of Ethics Teaching in Czech Schools

Assessment of ethics teaching in Czech schools In the last twenty years Czech schools systém passed by many big changes and almost every subject was touched. One of them, ethics, gained in these changes their own measure. Point of this work is, what is this measure, if it is keeped and what is teached by the name of ethics. A part of the education are also textbooks. This work try to find and appraise them in the measure of basic and high schools, when the situation is little bit complicated. Integral part are attitudes and values of students, primarily on high schools, because this values and attitudes closely relates with ethics teaching. So this work asks which values are supported in Czech schools, on state schools and the church schools also, because there is declarated Christian orientation of ethics, or ethics could be there a part of religion teaching. In the measure of high schools textbooks assessment in main problem their quantity and quality. This work asks what we can find in them and how is a education on the the base of them both in the connection with School teaching plans, which are also appraised.
File of methodological games and the usage of games in Czech language lessons at primary school

This diploma thesis is focused on methodological games in the usage of Czech language at primary school. It deals with educational methods, games in different stages of human development and mainly methodological games and their usage in Czech language lessons. The main part is created by the file of methodological games which were verified at school. One part of the research is based on the questionnaire for teachers which was concentrated on understanding and using of methodological games.
Work of Jan Hus and his assessment of the various historical periods from the perspective of textbooks and important personalities

The introductory chapters describe the reasons for the economic, social and political crisis, resulting in the unrest in Europe in the early 15th century and is shown activity Hus's predecessors Konrad Walhauser, John Milíč of Kromeriz, Matthew of Janov, Vojtech Raňkův from Ježov, Thomas Štítný of Štítné. The diploma thesis is also engaged in the work of John Wycliffe, who influenced the thinking of scholars throughout Europe, including Bohemia, where from his thoughts and opinions drew Jan Hus. The core diploma thesis is to analyze the life and the work of Jan Hus, its importance for the development of Czech history. Hus, influenced by his predecessors, became a leading critic of the Church and its influence goes beyond the 15th century. The diploma thesis shows the influence Hus's thoughts and actions in education and elementary education in the 15th and 16 century. Hus influenced the development of the Czech language and spelling. The ideas of Jan Hus had affected the brotherly unity, that followed the Hussite movement intellectually and spiritual legacy of Jan Hus thanks to John Blahoslav and John Amos Comenius. Didaktic Analysis of civis textbooks (Media Education)

The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part I deal with textbooks, their didactic analysis and the ways the textbooks can be used both by teachers as well as by students. My main concern was the problem of Media Education. In empirical part I focused on a didactic analysis of textbooks used for teaching of such educational subjects as Education of a Citizenship, Civics, and Social Science in which I was primarily concerned with the selected components of the didactic analysis.
A Gender Analysis of Reading-Books for Pupils of 1st and 2nd Years of Primary Schools

The diploma thesis A Gender Analysis of Reading-Books for Pupils of 1st and 2nd Years of Primary Schools focuses on the topic of gender in education. Specifically, it examines the ways in which female and male characters are represented in the texts and illustrations in textbooks and considers whether these are stereotypical views of gender and whether these are gender-sensitive views. The research consists of a quantitative content analysis of three reading-books and of qualitative interpretation of their gender correctness and sensitivity. It is set in a framework of theoretical foundations of psychology, sociology, feminist theory and gender studies. The work is based on the premise that the school as an institution plays an important role in gender socialization of children and the thesis therefore aims to find out whether and eventually how these reading- books promote gender equality. Analysis of subject matter in textbook of Czech language for 8th grades of basic school from the viewpoint of the cognitive demands on students

anglicky The aim of this thesis is to analyze cognitive demands of one thematic area in the most used textbook of Czech language for 8th grades of secondary schools, particularly in the field of morphology in the textbook from The Fraus publishing House. Four criteria were chosen to assess the cognitive demands of tasks presented in the textbook. Two of them were theoretical (Bloom's taxonomy of cognitive objectives and verbal subtests of selected intelligence tests) and the other two criteria were empirical (pupil's results from our compiled test and a teacher's opinion). The final findings may be a stimulus for further analysis and became a contribution to textbook authors.
Media education in contemporary Czech language textbooks

Bachelor thesis Media Education in Contemporary Czech Language Textbooks deals with possible incorporation of media education into Czech language teaching using up-to-date textbooks. In the first part it defines basic notions of media literacy and media education and characterizes their main conceptions used in education. It summarizes briefly the shape of media education in Framework Educational Programmes and focuses on its contiguous elements with the subject Czech language and literature. Then it shows that incorporation into Czech language education is really one of the main options of media education realization. In the second part the thesis analyses Czech language textbooks regarding the question to what extent do the textbooks contain media education elements. It finds out that in general the textbooks respect media as a pedagogic theme and it is possible to use them to help integrating some parts of media education into Czech language training.
