Navrátilová, Tereza ; Odstrčilová, Klára (advisor) ; Jirák, Jan (referee)
The aim of this master's thesis was to inquire into media education in Prague's high schools using the qualitative methods from the point of view of its two main participants - students and teachers. The main reason for focusing on these students was that they achieved the highest scores in media literacy among their peers from Czechia. For the purpose of the analysis, data were collected using in-depth semi-structured interviews with teachers from Prague's high schools, a focus group with second-year students from Gymnázium Na Zatlance, and an online questionnaire that was completed by 55 students from several high schools in Prague. The data were subsequently analyzed using the open coding method and thematic analysis. The results indicate that despite being classified as cross cutting topic in the Framework Education Programme by the Ministry of Education, more than half of the respondents reported receiving no media education. Furthermore, the results reveal that inclusion of media education in lectures depends mainly on the teachers and their personal motivation to incorporate it. On the other hand, teachers feel that they lack sufficient space and support from the school management. When media education is present in schools, it is mainly treated as a cross cutting topic rather than a...

Filter bubbles and the knowledge of filter bubbles among Facebook users
Koliandr, Michal ; Vochocová, Lenka (advisor) ; Nainová, Victoria (referee)
The media are an integral part of today's world, political and cultural events and are a key tool for creating worldviews. At the same time, they can also function as one of the basic building blocks for shaping the social core of a person, and thus also society and its values. It is necessary for the media to be the subject not only of ordinary conversations, articles and reports, but also the subject of study at an academic level. Facebook is one of the most dominant social networks today. At the same time, the developers themselves do not hide the fact that algorithms work on its platform, which monitor users' personal preferences and data, there are posts they spend the most time on, and based on this data, they create a personalized environment full of posts that the algorithms themselves deem appropriate. According to their own judgment, do the algorithmic practices of Facebook users lock them into information loops called Information bubbles, or do they only improve the quality of their time spent by filtering relevant or irrelevant content? The aim of this work is to answer this question, together with an insight into the world of algorithms, the social network Facebook and a comprehensive approach to the issue of Information bubbles on Facebook. At the same time, in the practical part, I...
