The media have the power to influence our thoughts and opinions. I wonder who has the opportunity to comment in the media, what the distribution of individual information sources are and who talks about this (laymen, sociologist, psychologists or representatives of various organizations). The research was conducted through quantitative and qualitative content analysis. This thesis focuses on the differences between people who talks about single parents and also tries to point out how "single mother" is displayed by media and what it means for us. The topic of the master thesis Protection of Personality Rights in Relation to Media is the conflict between two constitutional rights - protection of personality and freedom of speech. Both of these rights are stated in the Constitutional Act No. 2/1993 thus they have an equal level of legal protection. However, conflicts can arise between the two. The thesis evaluates and analyses these two crucial rights and their conflicts. This thesis is divided into four main chapters, which are the following: Protection of personality, Freedom of speech as a main principle of media law, Protection of personality versus freedom of speech in the practice of the Constitutional Court, and Media development and its influence on the protection of personality. This thesis gives a comprehensive picture of the press organs of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in the district of Pardubice during the so-called normalization. The first chapter describes the historical contexts of this era, particularly changes in policy after the onset of Gustáv Husák at the head of the Communist Party in April 1969. With this change is related to another topic: extensive purges in the Communist Party, which took place in 1970. The second chapter focuses on changes in the media at the beginning of normalization, in particular the abolition of some periodicals and restoring censorship, and changes in the cultural field, especially strengthening the focus on the Soviet Union, the emergence of new artists' unions and various legal regulation in order to strengthen ideological supervision of the this sphere . The third and fourth sections are devoted East Bohemian press: daily newspaper Pochodeň, published in Hradec Králové, and Pardubice district newspaper Zář. It briefly describes the history of these newspapers and their effect during the Prague Spring and subsequent developments in normalization. Pařízková, Nikola ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Köpplová, Barbara (referee)
The thesis deals with election campaigns in media during founding elections in Czechoslovakia in 1946 and 1990. The importance of those elections derives from their character of being the first elections after a regime change. Based on a comprehension of historical context, characterisation of the media system related to regime change and particularly an analysis of specific expressions in election campaigns, the thesis aims to understand the functioning of media in given periods. The qualitative content analysis examines party newspapers of two relevant party bodies in given years - Rudé právo of Komunistická strana Československa and Svobodné slovo of Československá strana (národně) socialistická. The electoral campaigns in question largely reflect the dynamical processes associated with the period of transition. The concept of campaigns in 1946 is determined by the already established position of Komunistická strana Československa whose influence was wide. This party was controlling the functioning of media during elections even though the media system had already been emancipated after the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. In 1990 we can conversely observe peremptory campaigns calling for democracy. Campaigns reflect the controversial position of KSČ in this year - Svobodné slovo appeals to...

The elections 2012: analysis of the media aspectof the election campaign of KDU-ČSL
Pohaněl, Jan ; Dolanský, Pavel (advisor) ; Trampota, Tomáš (referee)
The atmosphere of the election campaign before the elections in October 2012 was not such fierce as during the last campaign. It was mainly due to absence of a major topic that would polarise the society, like the health fees in 2008. The ČSSD tried to find a similar controversial topic that might have been the church restitutions for a moment. The purpose of the negative campaign was to discourage people from voting the governmental parties ODS and TOP 09, but it also could weaken the KDU-ČSL that was and still is closely connected with churches, especially the catholic church. The representatives of the KDU-ČSL themselves didn't publish any opinions concerning this matter, with only few exceptions. The purpose of this thesis is to analyse and evaluate the media output of the KDU-ČSL during the election campaign that was run before the elections to the regional governments and the Senate. In the first part, the main leaders of the KDU-ČSL are introduced, following by a detailed description of the campaigns in the respective regions and the senate circuits. The next part is devoted to a quantitative content analysis that examines the influence of the election forecasting models presented in the media on the decision of the voters, or the outcomes of the KDU-ČSL. The following qualitative analysis...
The Trial with the Protectorate Government
Havelková, Lenka ; Šafařík, Petr (advisor) ; Kučera, Jaroslav (referee)
This thesis is focused on medial presentation of the trial with the protectorate government. On the case of this process I try to show how this historical trial was depicted on the pages of the periodical press Rudé právo, Lidová demokracie and Svobodné noviny. On the background of this analysis of the historical press I intend to picture the character of the afterwar years which had been characterized by groundbreaking changes within the czech society and the state. From this reason I pay attention to the question of the impact of the war on the exil london government's plans for the reconstruction of the postwar Czechoslovakia. Regarding the connection with all the postwar changes I try to picture the background of the origin of the retribution, both from the czech and foreign point of view. In consideration of the fact, that the retribution itself was a kind of means of coping with the past and starting a new period of existence, I also try do depict the political background of the trial with the protectorate government. Particularly I focus on the attempts to influence this trial and discussions, that had been circulating regarding the guilt and punishment of the defendants. The interests of the political representation were related to the media, which kept providing lots of information about...
