A comparative analysis of Czech and Slovak librarian periodicals

(anglicky): The subject of the my thesis are Czech and Slovak periodicals in the field of library and information science - their concise history, determination of the current terminology in this field and publishing work, description of the editorial staff and the roles of its members, reviewing procedure and editorial work applied to specific examples of both printed and electronic media, specification of formal appurtenances of a specialized article, citation and information ethics. The following chapter deals with the characteristics of the current specialized periodicals issued in the Czech and Slovak Republic. The research oriented part focuses upon the topical analysis of library periodicals, further the results of two questionnaires relating to editorial work are discussed as well as various preparatory stages of a specialized periodical. Internet, public libraries and information policy in Cuba

The aim of this thesis is to present the development and current state of information policy and public libraries in Cuba. The first part of thesis outlines historical and political development in Cuba since the beginning of the revolution in 1959 to the present and introduces the development of selected areas of information policy on the island. The second part analyzes the expansion of information and communication technologies, including Internet and its censorship. The last part of thesis summarizes historical development and current state of public libraries and partially librarianship.
Presentation of libraries in media and media representation of librarians

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the media image of libraries and librarians in the years 2007-2011. The first part describes the theoretical knowledge of marketing and promotional tools used in libraries, with a particular focus on media tools. The second part is followed by a practical part, which monitors the application of these tools and the results of their action with regard to the public. Theoretical knowledge based ideas Philip Kotler were supplemented with a practical knowledge gained from the media analysis of the years 2007-2011, whose data were obtained from the database Anopress. Mapping the current marketing situation in the media library for a chance to innovate their marketing practices and to attract to the library and more satisfied users.
20 years of Czech librarianship on pages of Čtenář (1989-2009)

The subject of the thesis is content analysis of topics from Czech librarianship in 1989-2009, based on articles published in the journal Čtenář. First the journal Čtenář is briefly introduced, the following chapter provides summary of history of Czech librarianship in given period. Third chapter presents the formal side of the journal Čtenář, namely its graphic design and composition of its editorial board. The main part of the thesis is the content analysis in fourth chapter. It presents topics that the journal Čtenář discussed on its pages. Mainly transformation of libraries, new library law, influence of information and communication technologies on operation and services of libraries, and management and marketing are analysed. Fifth chapter contains statistical data related to the content of articles. In result one period of Czech librarianship and the way that the journal Čtenář presented it is evaluated.

The aim of this thesis is to describe current situation of information science and librarianship in Arab countries. To introduce and depict common ground, important historical moments for information science and librarianship in Arab countries will be described. Afterwards, field organizations operating in these countries will be mapped and characterized. The main part of the thesis will analyse the situation in each of twenty Arab countries. The analysis will map the most important libraries and universities, where the field of information science and librarianship is studied. New methods of marketing in libraries

In last few years marketing become one of the key processes in libraries. Marketing is used as an efficient tool of competitive struggle and means for defining the identity of the library, it is also new way of communication with library users. Libraries could use tools of classic marketing, which are primarly intended for profit organizations, but they have to be aware of differences between profit and nonprofite sector. These differences are goals of the organization, its directions and management of finances. The base of quality marketing is environment analysis, user analysis, segmentation, targeting and positioning. Current trends lead libraries to use new marketing methods. Most popular methods are guerilla marketing, social media marketing, mobile marketing and green marketing. Guerilla marketing and social media marketing are useful for libraries because of their low costs. Creating of campaigns requires investment of information, knowlege and creativity. Mobil marketing allows library to reach its users in any life situation. Green marketing helps library to promote itself as organization with human face, which care about the environment. ISBN system in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis is aimed to introduce several different aspects of the identifier ISBN, with emphasis on the Czech Republic. The work is divided into two parts - theoretical and analytical one. Introductory chapter defines the need of identification of information sources. It provides information about properties and division of identifier, too. Next part of the work is already focused on the identifier ISBN. It represents this identifier with regards to historical and organizational aspects. This part also analyzes the actual structure of the ISBN number. Furthermore, the bachelor thesis is devoted mainly to the usage of the ISBN identifier in the Czech Republic. It outlines the historical development and specific use in this country. The following part of work is strictly practical - attempts to analyze the usage of ISBN identifier in several information institutions. The final part of this bachelor thesis offers a summary of the main propositions and outlines possible future problems of the ISBN system.

This thesis deals with the issue of information education in Italy and focuses primarily on projects and activities in the academic environment. In the introductory chapter several theses are formulated, regarding Italian environment in relation to Information Literacy and Information Education. In the second chapter many aspects and challenges of Information Education in Italy are briefly zoomed - a system of legislative efforts on the path towards the Information Society, a characteristics of the current state of Higher Education and Information Education at universities, the interpretation of terms Information Literacy and Information Education and their terminological pitfalls in Italian, characteristics and tools supporting Information Education, the issue of Plagiarism. Thirty years of Czech librarianship on pages of the "Čtenář" journal (1960-1989)

The aim of this thesis is a formal and content analysis of thejournal Čtenář in 1960 - 1989. The work used the method of content analysis, synthesis, induction and deduction. The introductory chapter describes the general information relating to the national library journal, which is based on more than 60 years. The following chapter is dedicated to the history of Czech Librarianship during the analyzed period. The third chapter presents an analysis of the formal structure of the journal Čtenář. It focuses not only on the graphic design of the journal, but especially on the composition of the editorial board and the authors contributing to the journal. The core work is a content analysis of the journal Čtenář, which is located on the 4th and 5th chapter. The work presents an overview of topics dealt with in the journal over thirty years. Part of the work is an alphabetical name index of all the authors who contributed to the journal. Result of this work is to evaluate one period of development the Czech librarianship, as it was reported in the national library journal.

The theoretical part také note a different point of view during specification of reading and reading literacy.
