Problematics of inclusive education of pupils with mild mental disability

This master thesis will concentrate on problems of inclusive education of pupils with mild retardation in primary school. The thesis will be split into two parts, theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, terms such as mental retardation, inclusion, inclusive education, inclusive school, and inclusive class will be defined, along with other terms which are interconnected with these issues. The theoretical part of the thesis will end with a chapter on education of pupils with mild mental retardation in primary school, elaborating on conditions which are important for successful inclusive education as well as problems and benefits which inclusive education may bring about. The practical part will deal with analyse and description of the process of inclusive education of pupils with mild mental retardation in chosen secondary school in Prague. For gathering the necessary data, qualitative and quantitative methods of research will be used.

PhDr. Martin Raudenský, Ph.D. Abstrakt: This thesis deals with the creation of graphical worksheet (author of the book) in the form of illustrations associated with the text that will serve as an educational tool in institutions such as art galleries and museums with similar functionality as the gallery animation. Books (worksheet) are designed for production intended for children, with the parents, adolescents, or even random visitors. I created a variant of the worksheet has drafted according to the age of the users. Author book (worksheet) applies to a gallery and exhibition occurring in it. Work packages are factually created in two variants - package for a family with children or a group of younger pupils in colored graphic design and enhanced content for creating things. A simplified package for older visitors gallery, only with a pencil, which is even less economically demanding. Application of the Innovative Teaching Methods in Education at Primary School

My master's thesis with a title Possible Applications of Innovative Methods for Reading Literacy Development in Elementary School is aimed at the critical thinking methods. These methods lead pupils in elementary school to a development of reading literacy. The theoretical part of my work provides an overview of the curriculum reform and the following changes in learning. The terms teacher, innovation, pedagogical constructivism and reading literacy are explained. The key competences of primary education are described, because their development and fulfilment are important goals of education. Furthermore, the educational programme Reading & Writing for Critical Thinking and the three-phase model of learning with its phases learning, awareness and evocation with emphasis on methods supporting a reading literacy of pupils are narrated. The methods of critical thinking supporting reading literacy of pupils are examined in the practical part of my work. The action research with help of an observation method is used in order to evaluate the impact of the critical thinking methods on the development of key competences and level of reading literacy of pupils. Title: The ability of the future elementary school teachers to provide the first aid to pupils at live-threatening conditions Summary: This thesis is focused on the ability of future elementary school teachers in providing first aid to pupils in a life-threatening conditions. The introduction describes the motivation that has led to this topic and follows the objectives set for this thesis. The theoretical part is dedicated to defining first aid, inclusion of this topic into the school documents and programs, as well as a brief specifics of a child of a younger school age from the perspective of providing first aid, describes how to contact emergency services and focuses on prevention. It describes the universal process of providing first aid in three steps and complements it with practical knowledge gained from experience with pupils of younger school age. The practical part deals with the ability of future teachers in first aid in life-threatening condition, verified by the survey. Further analyzes whether future teachers are able to react correctly in life- threatening situations of their pupils. In conclusion, there is a brief assessment of achieved goals and recommendations for further development in providing first aid. The present state of listening activities in elementary school music lessons, and didactic suggestions for the integration of these activities in school teaching The thesis looks into the employment of listening activities at contemporary Czech schools. Its primary aim is to boost the motivation of school children to listen to classical music by means of choosing their preferred pieces in music lessons. The thesis consists of two parts, the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part analyses available sources connected with listening activities, such as materials for teachers, and textbooks certified by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports as one of possible tools. It looks into the place of listening activities in the contemporary Czech curriculum, and presents also information about listening from the music therapy point of view. The practical part analyses the present situation in the employment of listening activities at our schools. It detects spontaneous preferences of pupils in listening to classical music, and suggests how to use these spontaneous preferences to enhance the quality of music education at school, and build and encourage positive attitude of school children to classical music. Experience of English Teachers with Students with Learning Disabilities

The aim of this diploma thesis is to find what stance the particular teachers of primary and secondary schools (N=50) adopt on the problem of learning disability, especially dyslexia. Very important is to study their awareness and knowledge of this issue, their opinions and especially their personal experience. In the theoretical part of the work the history and characteristics of learning disabilities are introduced, then there is the focus on dyslexia particularly where causes, diagnostics and possibilities of reeducation are presented as well. The important part of these issues is a help of specialists which is also a component of the theoretical part. The next section is focused on teaching of foreign languages, especially English language, where the suitable methods and possible teaching aids for learning disabilities are mentioned. In the practical part of this thesis three case interpretations of pupils/students with learning disabilities are presented as well as the research - the questionnaire survey - itself. There is good knowledge of teachers in this topic which is obvious from the result of this research, at the same time their experience with these children is significant, their opinions on mixed classes are predominantly positive. Comparison of mathematical problem solving strategies of primary school pupils

The aim of this dissertation is to describe the role of educational strategy especially in field of the teaching of mathematics and to compare the mathematical problem solving strategies of primary school pupils which are taught by using different educational strategies. In the theoretical part, the main focus is on divergent educational strategies and their characteristics, next on factors affected teaching/learning process and finally on solving the problems. The empirical part of the dissertation explores the effect of educational strategy on problem solving strategies of third graders of primary school by using the method of experiment that includes a didactic test and interviews with selected pupils. The result of the dissertation is providing the evidence of influence of educational strategy on mathematical problem solving strategies.
