The professional satisfaction of teachers during their careers

The diploma thesis deals with the professional satisfaction of selected teachers in the implementation of their teaching profession. The theoretical part characterizes the teaching profession in terms of historical development and current changes. This is followed by teacher preparation for the profession and the topic of professional satisfaction from an overall perspective. In the practical part, the professional satisfaction of specific teachers during their careers is examined using qualitative research. The research is based on semi-structured interviews with selected teachers at different stages of school practice. The research survey focuses mainly on the pros and cons of the teaching profession and the demands associated with the teaching profession.

Possibilities of multicultural approaches of the work of Kindergarten

Possibilities of multicultural approaches in kindergarten work. This thesis focuses on multicultural education and the possibilities of use in kindergartens in Cheb, where the teachers very often encounter children of other nationalities, in particular with children of Vietnamese parents coming to the Karlovy Vary region to pursue their business activities in this border region. The theoretical part highlights the increasing number of immigrants in the Czech Republic. The thesis explains the terminology relating to multicultural education and it also emphasizes its links with the Framework Education Programme and classroom education programmes. It places emphasis on the preparedness of teachers for multicultural education as well as their preparedness in the domain of child speech development and possibilities of helping children of different nationalities with learning Czech language. The practical part points out the focus on developing vocabulary and communication skills as one of the possibilities of multicultural approach of teachers and kindergartens. In addition, it presents the results of a pedagogical survey related to Vietnamese parents and their attitude to the need of learning Czech language by their children.
Training of future primary school teachers in the Czech Republic and Belgium

This thesis deals with a training of primary school teachers in the Czech Republic and in the French-speaking part of Belgium. It is a comparative study analyzing corresponding systems of tertiary education. In detail it describes selected examples of education used by the Faculty of Education of Charles University in Prague and the École normale catholique du Brabant Wallon at Haute Ecole Léonard de Vinci in Louvain - la - Neuve. For the purpose of mutual inspiration it presents individual curricula of both universities, the relationship of theory and practice in the studies and, based on author`s own observations and experience, reflections of two specific issues from each institution which are interesting and unique. It also presents problems of professional competence of teachers who apply for teacher training. Because such paper is already valid in Belgium, while in the Czech Republic it is still in progress. Both schools have a lot to offer for its current students, but there is always space for further development.
Social climate at a classroom

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of social-emotional climate in the elementary school class whose pupil is a child with special educational needs. The theoretical part focuses on the development of relationships among the people who influence the classroom climate and on creating a favourable classroom climate with all its positive features. It discusses disruptions of the classroom climate by a pupil with special educational needs and thus also the related competencies of the teacher in charge of the classroom climate and possible ways of diagnosis, intervention and support options. In the practical part, ten teachers from two selected elementary schools provide their insight on the degree of influence the pupils with special educational needs who attend their class have on the classroom climate. The aim of the research was to find out whether the classroom climate is significantly influenced by the presence of a pupil with special educational needs and if it raises the need for special care of the classroom climate. Current trends in education and their application in lifelong education of English teachers

This dissertation thesis deals with lifelong education, specifically a programme provided by the Department of English Language and Literature at Charles University, Prague. The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and research. In the theoretical part, the theoretical basis of lifelong education is analysed, as well as trends in selected aspects of it. In the research part, data about appropriate programmes from other European countries as well as curricula from other universities and colleges in the Czech Republic and from abroad are analysed. The results of the pilot stage, the questionnaire distributed among the successful participants of the lifelong education programme, which are followed by semi-structured interviews, are presented and compared. In addition, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the teachers teaching in this programme. Content analysis is used to process, compare and interpret the collected data with regard to the programme in question and to the aims of the thesis. 1 Abstract (in English): Development of proffesional competencies The aim of the dissertation thesis is to analyze the needs of development of selected competence and to design a system of measures and methods to support its development in the undergraduate training of future teachers. The theoretical part of this thesis presents current knowledge regarding the issues of professionalisation of teachers and the development of their professional skills. Crucial for this thesis are studies on the standardization of the teaching profession and establishing a framework of professional qualities that the teacher should be equipped with at the beginning and also during his prefessional carrier. Based on empirical studies, the diagnostic competence was identified as the competence in which the trainee teachers feel the greatest handicap in his professional preparedness. Therefore, in this thesis, an extra attention is payed to this competence. The empirical part of this thesis is focused on analysis of needs of diagnostic competence of teachers in primary and secondary schools.
