Predictors of success of low-intensity specific physiotherapy in functional movement disorders
Chmelíková, Petra ; Serranová, Tereza (advisor) ; Vogner, Martin (referee)
Introduction: Functional movement disorders are a nosological entity falling within the group of functional neurological disorders. Despite their relatively common occurrence, this area at the intersection of neurology and psychiatry is clinically and research-wise overlooked. However, they typically manifest as chronic conditions causing significant disability to patients. Specific physiotherapy is considered the first-line treatment for most patients; however, indicators of its effectiveness are currently lacking. Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate whether selected variables - the number of hours of completed physiotherapy, duration of the illness, and expression of a fibromyalgia- like pattern - can serve as suitable predictors of the success of physiotherapy in functional movement disorders. Methods: This is a retrospective study conducted on a sample of patients with functional movement disorders (n=18). Before the intervention, patients completed questionnaires assessing fibromyalgia-like patterns - the Widespread Pain Index and Symptom Severity Index. Subsequently, they underwent specific physiotherapy sessions, with variations in the number and time period of therapy sessions among patients. During the final physiotherapy session, improvement in symptoms over the...
Executive function in cerebral palsy and their implications for physiotherapy
Horníková, Dominika ; Javůrková, Alena (advisor) ; Vlček, Přemysl (referee)
Aim: The aim of this theoretical work is to gain an understanding of physiotherapy interventions that are effective on the executive function of children with cerebral palsy. Methodology: In a narrative review, we searched internet databases according to appropriate keywords to find studies dealing with our topic. Subsequently, the discovered studies had to meet our predefined inclusion criteria. We used MICROSOFT WORD and MICROSOFT EXCEL for this procedure. Results: Our findings are based on ten included studies consisting of three randomized controlled trials, three cross-sectional studies and four study protocols of randomized controlled trials. Some studies showed us a significant effect (p<0.05) of physiotherapy on executive function in children with cerebral palsy, where yoga, ballet modified for this diagnosis or intensive exercise were used in the intervention. In addition to their effectiveness on the executive functions we examined, these therapies also demonstrated an effect on improvement in reaching predetermined goals or walking. Conclusion: The effect of physiotherapy on executive function in children with cerebral palsy may seem like an undiscovered topic, but some of the studies we found used interventions that are effective on this investigated area. Keywords: children, cerebral...
Possibilities of use of questionnaire WHODAS 2.0, regarding physiotherapy of patients with diagnosis of Central Hemiparesis
Matiaško, Dušan ; Sládková, Petra (advisor) ; Rodová, Zuzana (referee)
Bachelor's Thesis Abstract Autor: Dušan Matiaško Supervisor: MUDr. Bc. Petra Sládková, Ph.D. Title: The possibilities of use of questionnaire WHODAS 2.0, regarding physiotherapy of patients with diagnosis of Central Hemiparesis This Bachelor's Thesis deals with the issue of subjective assessment of disability in patients with central hemiparesis. Objective testing cannot comprehensively capture an individual's overall experience stemming from his/her health condition. On the other hand, subjective evaluation using the WHODAS 2.0 questionnaire, provides specific information about the most problematic areas of their life as experienced by the individual. This allows the examiner to directly address these issues and achieve a better therapeutic effect. Alternatively, it may also lead to acknowledging that the appropriate solution lies within the expertise of other specialists. Objectives: The main objective of the thesis is to outline the impact of a rehabilitation program using the WHODAS 2.0 questionnaire in all its defined domains. A secondary goal, is to compare the use of the 12-item and 36-item versions of the WHODAS 2.0 questionnaire in relation to physiotherapy. A third objective is to create a short instructional video on the practical application of WHODAS 2.0. Methods: In the practical part,...

Zakonov, Filip ; Vomáčková, Helena (advisor) ; Žáková, Lenka (referee)
Author: Bc. Filip Zakonov Supervisor: PhDr. Helena Vomáčková, Ph.D. Title: Analysis of the most common injuries among the players of floorball aged 7-18 and the influence of the compensatory methods on their prevention. Objectives: The main aim of this thesis is to analyse the most common injuries among young people who regularly play floorball and find out the effect of the intervention of a physiotherapist or the application of compensatory exercises in the training process on the incidence of injuries. It is also important to compare the availability of physiotherapists for individual youth teams and whether the provided care is sufficient to prevent injuries. Furthermore, the aim is to verify whether the most affected segment even among floorball youth is the ankle joint, which in studies focused on the adult category has repeatedly emerged as the most frequently injured area of all parts of the body. Moreover, my effort is to evaluate the most common causes of injuries - whether a collision with another player is more probable risk factor than an injury caused by one's own fault. Methods: The special part consists of a study that was conducted using a non- standardized questionnaire survey. The questionnaire was sent deliberately in an electronic form to all clubs in the Czech Republic via the...

Pešicová, Anežka ; Bitnar, Petr (advisor) ; Demeková, Júlia (referee)
bakalářská práce Syndrom fixované míchy Bibliographic identification PEŠICOVÁ, Anežka. Tethered cord syndrome. Prague: Charles University, 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Departement of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, 2023. 79 p. Supervisor PhDr. Petr Bitnar Ph.D. Abstract Tethered cord syndrome is a neurological condition in which either the spinal cord is anchored by thickened filum terminale or is creating adhesions with surrounding spinal tissue. Progression of such condition leads to paresis of the lower limb, back pain, scoliosis or urological dysfunction. The goal of this thesis was to create a research of available informations about tethered cord syndrome and to explore possible potentials of physiotherapy treatment. Based on the thesis findings emerged a significant potential of manual therapy while treating patients with the tethered cord. In the case study patient with tethered cord was observed over the corse of 6 months and was educated to do autotraction of the spine daily. Changes of the patient's clinical picture were evaluated based on selected standing stability parameters and measured using the Zebris FDM Tredmill system. While the control assessment a significant improvement of all the measured parameters was observed. Such result suggests a favourable effect of traction to the tethered...
