Sibling Relationships of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder - Parental perspective

This bachelor thesis deals with the sibling relationships of children with autism spectrum disorder from the perspective of parents. The theoretical part defines the concept of autism spectrum disorders, its historical development, etiology and the main areas in which autism spectrum disorders manifest themselves. The following chapter deals with a family with a child with autism spectrum disorders and the main problems these families face. The third chapter first describes the characteristics of sibling relationships, sibling rivalry and sibling constellations, then the chapter deals with the specifics of the sibling relationship with a child with a disability and the impact of autism spectrum disorders on the sibling relationship. Last but not least, the possibilities of supporting healthy siblings are briefly outlined. The empirical part presents the research, which was carried out using a questionnaire survey. Research goals and questions, research methodology and characteristics of the research sample are presented. Contribution of brain magnetic resonance imaging to the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders

Aim. The aim of the present work is to examine and compare brain abnormalities found on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and in children without this diagnosis. In terms of psychopathology, the aim is to evaluate a possible relationship between the MRI findings and the severity of autistic symptomatology. Methods. The research study is based on a retrospective analysis of a sample of patients who attended a diagnostic examination focused on ASD and at the same time underwent brain MRI at the Department of Child Psychiatry of the Second Faculty of Medicine at Charles University and University Hospital Motol between the years 1998 and 2015. For clinical diagnosis of ASD, the International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision (ICD-10), was used. Between 1998 and 1999, the assessment of patients was supported by the Childhood Autism Rating Scale. Starting in 2000, the third version of the Autism Diagnostic Interview - Revised was used for assessments; and from 2012 onwards, the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - Generic was added to the diagnostic procedures. This diploma thesis deals with the issue of inclusion of pupils with Asperger's syndrome in primary schools. It analyzes the inclusion of selected student with Asperger's syndrome and it's based on a case report, verifies the success of inclusion in a practice. The main aim of this diploma tesis is to describe and analyze the factors, which contribute to the inclusion of pupils with Asperger's syndrome in education in a regular school. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis deals with the definition of Asperger's syndrome and other issuses related to the inclusion. The research analysed the obtained data and answered set research questions.
Metaphorization of autism spectrum disorders

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of metaphorization of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and their representation in common online media. The aim of the diploma thesis is to examine aspects of the relationship between metaphors and autism spectrum disorder. In terms of metaphor theory, it is based on cognitive linguistics and its approach to conceptual metaphor. The thesis lists the most common metaphors that are used in connection with autism spectrum disorders whereas the distinction between neurotypical and autistic metaphors is made. Then, it deals with medialization of autism spectrum disorders and presents possibilities of categorization of the way ASD is written about in common online media. Finally, the thesis discusses the overall problematics of metaphorization of autism spectrum disorders and possibilities of changes in the way they are represented.
Follow-up education and care for people with low function autism

The bachelor's thesis entitled Follow-up education and care for people with low-function autism deals with the issue of autism spectrum disorders and the possibilities of placement or employment of specific people with this diagnosis after completing compulsory schooling. The work consists of two main parts. This is a theoretical part, which explains the basic concepts of autism spectrum disorders using the literature. It also deals with a historical overview, possible causes of PAS, diagnostic criteria and classification. It also deals with the education system in the Czech Republic and the possibilities of people with ASD in the field of education. Last but not least, it discusses the types of aftercare and the possibilities of people with autism spectrum disorders in the field of housing or employment. The second part of the bachelor's thesis is the practical part, which uses case studies to demonstrate and compare the possibilities of individual people with a diagnosis of autism after compulsory schooling and points to unbalanced conditions of one diagnosis, but different abilities.
Didactic interaction in swimming lessons for children with autism spectrum disorders

Title: Didactic interaction in swimming lessons for children with autism spectrum disorders Objectives: The goal of this bachelor's thesis was to describe and analyze the interaction profile of two instructors (a begginer in comparison with a senior instructor with many years of experience), leading a swimming lesson for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and in doing so, to contribute to the objectification of the conceptions about didactic interaction in aquatic motion lessons for children with ASD. Methods: The entire research was carried out in combination of both kvalitative and kvantitave methods. The observation was made during direct attendance of children with autism spectrum disorders at swimming lessons. Videorecords were made from two of these lessons. The videorecords were analysed by an unbiased observation. Subsequent coding of each individual swimming lesson was made with the method of modified analysis of didactic interaction (MADI). Results: From the research results it is apparent, that from the behavioral patterns, intructions prevailed for both instructors.
