TITLE: Early intervention. Comparative study of the early intervention system of the Czech Republic and the federal state of Styria. AUTHOR: Jitka Barlová DEPARTMENT: Department of Special Education The topic of the Dissertation is the early intervention. Provision of timely assistance to a family in a difficult life situation is the primary goal of early intervention. Theoretical possibilities of early intervention are outlined in the introduction of the work. The study offers a view of early intervention not only in the context of disability but also focuses on the issue of threat to the development of a child with psychosocial risks. The theoretical knowledge is based on foreign experience, confirming the importance and necessity of early intervention in socially disadvantaged families. Results of a comparative analytical study are presented in the research part. We have opted for a qualitative approach to data treatment, with the aim to understand the phenomena of early intervention in the context of the given country. The early intervention system of the Czech Republic is compared to that of Styria, Austria. Within Europe, Styria is considered one of the countries with the most sophisticated and integrated system of early intervention. Based on a research, both common and different phenomena...
Teacher's intervention as a determinant of motivation of pupils with ADHD at a lower secondary school
Cibulková, Andrea ; Bartoňová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Vítková, Marie (referee) ; Hájková, Vanda (referee)
The dissertation brings a perspective on the education of students with ADHD in a regular elementary school. Educating this group of pupils is a challenge for teachers. A good level of knowledge of the issues of this spectrum neurodevelopmental disorder, the possibilities of pupil support and effective strategies of motivation for schoolwork is a prerequisite for the school success of a pupil with ADHD. The aim of the research was to specify the level of knowledge of teachers about the problem of ADHD and to shed light on what strategies they choose in the context of motivation for school work among this group of pupils. A mixed research design provided scope for a combination of research methods. The KADDS scale was used to identify teachers' knowledge and misconceptions about ADHD. The analysis of the research data yielded information about the average level of knowledge and helped to specify specific topics for in-service teacher education. As part of the implementation of focus groups with a lower secondary school teachers who have experience in teaching pupils with ADHD, we found that for motivation to work at school they choose mainly educational procedures and interventions recommended by school counseling facilities, which mainly consist in adjusting the organization of teaching and...
DNA Methylation Patterns in patients with Neurodevelopmental Disorders
Vítková, Magdalena ; Steiner Mrázová, Lenka (advisor) ; Krejčík, Zdeněk (referee)
Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) are diseases characterized by abnormal development of the central nervous system and brain. Simultaneously, the NDDs may also be associated with specific changes in DNA methylation. The rapid development of sequencing techniques, particularly whole genome sequencing (WGS) and whole exome sequencing (WES), has helped to uncover a number of genes associated with NDDs. Determining the pathogenicity of the variants found remains a challenge in the diagnosis of patients with NDDs. Finding the DNA methylation patterns by microarray or methylation sequencing in patients with NDDs carrying a variant of uncertain significance (VUS) may provide valuable information to address this problem. This thesis demonstrates the feasibility of using these approaches to functionally classify found variants in the KDM5C, ARID1B, ATRX, and BRWD3 genes. The aim was to determine whether there are changes in the DNA methylation patterns of patients with NDDs compared to probands and healthy controls, which could be used to confirm the diagnosis. Key words: DNA methylation patterns, DNA methylation, histone modifications, NDDs, KDM5C, ARID1B, ATRX, BRWD3
The Use of an Applied Behavior Analytic approach in the Education of Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders in a Special Education Primary School
Prokopová, Zuzana ; Bartoňová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Vítková, Marie (referee) ; Franiok, Petr (referee)
The subject of this dissertation is on the use of an applied behavior analysis (hereinafter referred to as ABA) based approach in the education of pupils diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders in a special education primary school. In the theoretical part, autism spectrum disorder (hereinafter referred to as ASD) is defined within the context of current knowledge, its anchoring in classification systems, symptoms, screening and diagnostic methods, and supported evidence-based practices as it relates to treatments available to individuals with ASD. Furthermore, the theoretical part deals with ABA as a scientific field and its use in the education of pupils with ASD. Last but not least, findings are presented on the inclusion of pupils with ASD in the educational process both here and abroad and introduces the Pennsylvania support class model as one of the possibilities of implementing education with the assistance of an ABA based approach. The research part of the dissertation is divided into three research studies, all of which have one common theme; the education of pupils with ASD in a special education primary school using ABA. In the first research study, a description on the current status on the usage of ABA in the Czech Republic as it relates to the education of pupils with ASD in primary...
Percolation column tests and investigation of contaminant leaching from mineral wastes: theory and experiment with metallurgical slag
Gottvald, Matouš ; Ettler, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Vítková, Martina (referee)
Leaching represents an essential concept related to the natural processes that occur at the contact between solids and solutions. The leaching properties of mineral wastes point to the mobility of contained contaminants in various scenarios and, thus, the environmental risk of the wastes. Experimental tools have been developed to determine the leachability over a range of conditions and to be a part of the waste evaluation workflow. Special emphasis is given to the dynamic column leaching tests that approximate percolation occurring in the field and enable to describe the time dependence of leaching. Processes that are observed in full-scale systems may substantially differ from those in the laboratory simulations. Apart from the field experiments and geochemical modelling, also modifying the original leaching test protocols expands our awareness of the mineral waste behaviour. We performed a column leaching test. Secondary Pb metallurgical slag coming from the Pb-scrap recycling was leached according to the standardised column leaching test EN 14405 as a part of broader research on the leachability of slag exposed to the wetting-drying cycles. The cumulative leached mass of both metal and major elements was lower compared to the previous turn; bulk leached masses of the main contaminants related...
Stanovení obsahu vybraných prvků ve stavebních a demoličních odpadech
Vítková, Michaela
The diploma thesis “Determination of the content of selected chemical elements in construction and demolition waste” begins with a literature research, where the first part describes the terms that are used in other parts of the thesis. The next part of literature research contains description of legislation related to the topic of the thesis. The aim of the thesis was to verify the concentration of arsenic, chromium, cadmium, lead, nickel and vanadium in the most produced construction and demolition waste, to compared the measured values with legal limits and to evaluate possible impacts on the environment and human health. X-Ray fluorescence analysis, the so-called XRF, was chosen to address the topic. The results show that the most of samples have higher content of chromium and arsenic. At the end of the diploma thesis is an evaluation of the fulfillment of aims and verification of hypotheses.
Comparison of properties of biochars based on different types of sewage sludge.
Moško, Jaroslav ; Beňo, Z. ; Hušek, Matěj ; Komárek, M. ; Vítková, M. ; Pohořelý, Michael
The application of sewage sludge to agricultural land is an increasingly debated topic, particularly because of the precautionary principle regarding the content of inorganic, organic and microbial pollutants. One of the practices treatment/treatment of sludge prior to land application is pyrolysis, whereby \nbiochars are produced from the sewage sludge, which, provided that proper process management, stable and free from organic and microbial \ncontamination. The aim of this paper was to verify the properties of biochars from sewage sludge that were subjected to different types of stabilization. The sludges were pyrolyzed at temperatures ranging from 600 to 650 °C and a certain correlation was found between degree of sludge stabilization and biochar properties (textural properties, elemental composition, energy value). \n\n
