TITLE: Molecular models in teaching organic chemistry at the Grammar School AUTHOR: Milan Marek DEPARTMENT: Department of Chemistry and Chemical Education ABSTRACT: The thesis is focused on the use of molecular models in teaching organic chemistry at the Grammar School. Models are used for a presentation of the structure of organic compounds and especially their chemical characteristics. The research includes the construction of models (based on quantum-chemical methods), selected organic compounds from the category hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbon and oxytgented derivates of hydrocarbons and other types of compounds. Along with the relevant models, the tasks focusing on the structure and reactivity of compounds are processed. The research examined the influence of the use of models for a success solving task of students from 3rd year of Grammar School. Tasks are related to the distribution of electron density in the molecule, delocalization of electrons substitution effect of typology reaction etc. 223 students participated in this research. The research results have shown the increase of the success of solving the tasks of those students who could use molecular models, in some cases the increase of 26% has been shown. The positive effect of the models for solving of problems is individual and it...
Chemical thermodynamics in chemisty education at grammar schools
Tříska, Jan ; Teplý, Pavel (advisor) ; Šmejkal, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on teaching chemical thermodynamics at the four-year grammar school. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the analysis of current curricula. Basic document is the Framework educational programme for grammar schools. Subsequently, in a few cases of the School educational programs my work present the scope of this topic at different grammar schools and inclusion in a school year. My thesis also includes reviews of the most widely used grammar school textbooks. Practical part of my thesis deals with creating my own textbooks of chemical thermodynamics for grammar schools. These textbooks should to be actually used in chemical thermodynamics education at grammar school in compulsory and optional chemistry subjects. These textbooks include a brief explanation of subject matter and teaching tasks encouraging pupils to be more active in class. They comprise all the essentials of secondary school textbooks and present all the grammar school matter of chemical thermodynamics and thermochemistry in detail. Both textbooks contain solutions of teaching tasks for teachers.

Stalinist Period in Czechoslovakia - Its Interpretation and Teaching in Secondary Education
Hána, Petr ; Jirásková, Věra (referee) ; Havlůjová, Hana (referee)
1950s may be classified as one of the worst periods in Czechoslovakia's history. The totalitarian communist regime in the period between 1948 and 1953 is called the Stalinism. The primary objective hereof was to evaluate teaching about the Stalinism period in Czechoslovakia in secondary schools, in particular, to assess the scope of correctness and completeness of the related curriculum and teaching methods. The secondary objective hereof was to introduce and describe the Stalinism as a typical example of totalitarianism and to define crucial elements of this non-democratic form of government using the example of Czechoslovakia from 1948 to 1953. The thesis proceeds from the theoretical part via a case study to the practical part. The first part classifies totalitarianism, defines its historical outset and determines its main features. The second chapter describes and explains the Stalinism, which is a typical example of totalitarianism having functioned in practice in the Soviet Union from where it spread to the majority of the Communist countries, including Czechoslovakia. The third chapter explains the practical application of the Stalinism elements and methods used to control a society according to the Soviet model using the example of Czechoslovakia from 1948 to 1953. The practical part hereof focuses...

The Grammar School in Rumburg and its historical development 1906-1989
Šmahelová, Ywette ; Váňová, Růžena (advisor) ; Kasper, Tomáš (referee)
The bachelor thesis is focused on the Grammar School in Rumburk, its history and education provided there. The town of Rumburk is located in north Bohemia on the border with Saxony. Until 1945 with the population of about 10.000 Rumburk was predominantly a German town. After the end of World War II. majority of German residents were expelled and the town was settled by Czechs from inland. Within few years the town reached the same population as before. The grammar school founded there in 1906 shared the turbulent events with its town including two occupations by foreign armies. During 100 years existence the grammar school has changed its official name fifteen times. With every change of its name came institutional reforms and changes of syllabi as well. And since the Grammar School in Rumburk had to respect regulations of five state departments, the main part of the thesis is preceded by a chapter on grammar schools in Bohemia from their beginnings until 1918.
Teaching of parasitism in elementary and secondary schools
Čiháková, Kateřina ; Mourek, Jan (advisor) ; Ehler, Edvard (referee)
Main aim of this master thesis is to map the situation of parasitism teaching in elementary and grammar schools. Thats why it contains analysis of reachable elementary and grammar school textbooks - it informs about various kinds of rating the textbooks, which can help both - current and future teachers of biology - to better know and identify reachable textbooks and choose the right ones for the parasitism teaching. It also contains test results of students parasitism knowledge, which are generally very good. Anyway they should learn much more about parazite's manipulation of their host behavior. Other part of my master thesis shows the results of grammar school teachers-filled questionnaires. All questionnaire results (teachers' and students') show that there can be an improvement in parasitism teaching. In next section you can find the Framework Education Programme analysis, own educational programme draft - workbooks, didactic games and powerpoint presentations. Thanks to the realization of teaching the parazites manipulation of their host behavior I found out that students' interest in the topic is quite big so it would be a shame not to share this newly explored area of parasitism with them. Key words: parasite, host, manipulation hypothesis, questionnaires, parasitism teaching

The Textbook of History for Grammar school students - the qantitative analysis
Gliganičová, Jana ; Opatrný, Aleš (advisor) ; Kuźniar, Mariusz (referee)
The bachelor thesis contains the analysis of four volumes of the textbook of world and Czech history for grammar school and high school students, written in Czech language: 'Dějepis pro gymnázia a střední školy', Praha 2001 - 2002, author of it's conception is Petr Čornej. The bachelor thesis evaluates the frequency of content related to Christianity to all of the content of the texbook. This frequency in four volumes is 5,25%, 35,80%, 3,83% and 2,21% respectively. The bachelor thesis also identifies all the negative or positive statements on Christianity. The result of the thesis is that the frequency of content related to Christianity is adequate, if we take into consideration that the textbook mainly deals with political history. The negative and positive statements are not an intention of the authors, but a result of mistakes, clumsiness and unintentional acceptation of historical paterns we could find in school texbooks in era of the former state regime.
