Concept of Age Management in Organizations in the Czech Republic

This diploma thesis summarises current approaches to age management, or human resources management taking in account the age and skills of employees in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of this paper deals with the background of this concept, describes the present demographical development, its consequences in the labour field, and the problem of aging population which is visible in the need to adapt applied management strategies in organisations to this trend. There are mentioned several programmes, thoughts, and legislative measures on which the newest concepts and strategic plans in Europe and the Czech Republic are based. The empirical part of the thesis focuses on a specific level of organisations, and consists of two surveys. The first one is a comparative case study for which data were collected in two organisations which have recently implemented measures stemming from age management strategies. These measures are then specified and confronted with the statements of the employees who, in semi-structured interviews with the author, talked about the changes that were put into practice under the concept of age management, and about the discrimination of persons over 50 years of age on the labour market. Specifics of third age education

The purpose of this diploma work is to describe the possibilities of senior education and specific needs of senior education. The population of Czech republic is ageing. In order to this it is necessary to define very important terms like age, ageing, age management. Demographic situation will need new solutions in learning, because people will have to work longer than it was in history. To be successful at labour market, older people will have to pass various courses and trainings. It is also necessary to prepare for age, because people are living longer, this period can last 30 or 40 years. Learning is a very good way to keep healthy and vital. Senior education has many variations - for ambitious people it can be University of third age, for less demanding students it can be for example Leisure time university. It was proofed, that senior education has positive influence on their health, they are not so often sick, have better mood. Seniors can thank to learning understand the current world and that is useful for them and for the society too. Age management

This thesis processes the concept of the human resources management with respect to the age structure of employees in the intentions of the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part, there is outlined the history of the application of the principle of age management, focusing on current demographic trends, forecasts of population age structure, the aging workforce and the need to preserve the ability to work into old age. Points to the need to adapt corporate strategy, personnel management trend of an aging population. It presents ideas for the main underlying programs and legislative measures which form the basis of the latest concepts and strategic plans in the Czech Republic and Europe. The empirical part deals with a specific level of allowance organization established by TSU and two sub investigation. The first is a case study of age management staff. The resulting data are confronted with the results of a survey among employees of the organization. The second investigation are interviews with members of management and employees of the HR department on the issue of the introduction of age management, their awareness of the concept of age management, the question of age discrimination, the issue of maintaining the continuity of knowledge in the organization and their views on these topics. The outcome of this survey indicates a willingness and readiness of the organization has already received age management principles adhere to and develop further.

The concept of age management as a management with regard to the age of employees is due to demographic changes increasingly important topic. Therefore it is necessary the organizations should take care about age management to get by competitive fight and to avoid loosing experienced, qualified and loyal employees. Age management is gaining prominence due to delay founding families, an aging population and the lack of labor force. The basic threatened groups of age management are mainly workers 50+, graduates and ultimately mothers with small children. All these groups of workers require attention and the management of each organization should take care about them. The aim of this work is to identify the pillars of the field of age management as part of human resources management in an organization, including evaluation of their objectives, strategies used within a given area. From a qualitative survey, namely structured interviews with human resources employees and after that with all managers can say that the organization is aware of the risks associated with the employment of graduates and workers 50+ and part of human resources management is to focus on risky groups of employees. The organization is aware of the qualities of its employees and is trying to use their retention of knowledge that human capital brings to achieve competitive advantage.

In age management, it should be ensured that every employee or job applicant has the opportunity to utilise their potential and not be at a disadvantage because of his/her age. Age management is not exclusively focused on one age group, the focus is very broad and covers all age categories of workers. Regarding the age management focused on a group of employees that are of an older age (approximately 50 years), it is expected to have an excellent knowledge of the age structure of employees in the company, fair approach to aging, appreciation for diversity, etc. The aim of the thesis is to determine the factors affecting the employment of persons 50 years and older in the labor market in the countries of the Visegrad agreement, to compare these factors for each of the countries, identify differences and similarities of age management in labor markets and propose recommendations for employers or possible output considerations for management.
The Proposal of Age Management Application in Selected Company

This thesis deals with proposal of measures that may lead to risk mitigation associated with employees´aging under the terms of the Age Management application in the chosen company. The theoretical part explains the concepts of human resources management and current demographic trends are not omited either. The analytical part presents the analysis of external and internal business environment. The quantitative and qualitative research was conducted as well. Based on the obtained data initial proposals are made for the introduction of age management in the chosen company.
The Use of New Knowledge about Generation Y for Their Inclusion into Business Practice

Dissertation deals with Generation Y and its position in the corporate environment and in the labor market. The selected issue is very topical because of increasing structural and cyclical unemployment among young people. In preparing the dissertation, we departed from theoretical findings acquired by studying Czech and foreign monographs, articles published in journals, other electronic resources and, most importantly, primary research conducted. The main objective of the dissertation to gain new knowledge about Generation Y, which would lead to a more effective inclusion of young people (especially graduates) into practice with the use of new management methods in the adaptation and stabilization of a young employee in the job, with focus on future employees with economic expertise. In order to achieve the main objective, 4 sub-objectives and 4 research questions with relevant hypotheses were set. Based on an analysis of the theoretical basis and secondary data, a schema of adaptation and stabilization of a young employee was created. The primary research conducted then combines quantitative and qualitative approaches for the analysis and description of each part. The research results are presented in the form of partial conclusions characterizing each area as well as in the form of a summarizing conclusion placed in a broader context in a comparison with the determined state of current scientific knowledge. The dissertation includes contributions to science and research, business practice and teaching as well as a proposal of continuation of research activities.

Diploma Thesis evaluates levels of management in the OHL ZS, a.s. company with respect to their employees´ age and abilities. It analyzes the current state of the organization and its environment in relation to a selected group of workers (50+). External and internal environment of the construction company and access of its strategy is evaluated in the area of Age Management. Research is performed through a questionnaire survey among employees. On the basis of learned and analyzed information the overall evaluation of the state of AM in the organization is brought to effect and then a solution is suggested and some possible changes are recommended. The aim is to propose possible measures to strengthen the level of Age Management in this company.

The aim of the thesis is to propose measures for the effective application of diversity management which will lead to improvements in the working environment and to enhance the performance of the company. The first part summarizes the current knowledge about the diverse composition of employees in companies. To solve the research task will be use a number of research methods, especially the questionnaire, semi-structured interviews and document analysis.
