Petkevič, Daniel ; Voldřichová - Beránková, Eva (advisor) ; Jamek, Václav (referee) ; Pohorský, Aleš (referee)
The French writer André Gide (1869-1951) was a representative of the individualist stream in society and literature at the end of the nineteenth and in the first half of the twentieth century. This diploma work examines the circumstances of the writer's involvement in the question of communism in the thirties of the twentieth century, which led to his visit of the Soviet Union in summer 1936 and to his writing two revealing testimonies. Gide's Soviet episode is considered from the perspective of his individualism, which is treated in the first part of this work. It depicts both the basic influences and inspirations that had impact on Gide's individualist spirit and its manifestation in the author's life, creation and in his art and social criticism. The second part focuses on the matter of Gide's communist alignment. It shows the main reasons for his sympathy with the communist ideas, which progressively developed into their association in the early thirties of the twentieth century. In this period of incertitude due to deep social and economic crisis, which gave rise to emerging totalities, Gide felt the need of a political alignment. He was blind in his belief that the implementation of his social ideals was conceivable in the Soviet Union, which succesfully attacked the Western intellectuals with a...

Beránek, Petr ; Skřivan, Aleš (referee) ; Kovář, Martin (referee)
ln the time between the two world wars, divergencies of opinion were deepened among Gandhi's fraction and leftists led by Jawaharlal Nehru and Subhas Chandra Bose in Indian National Congerss (INC). Bose, coming from the Bengal elite, resigned the post of Indian Civil Service and joined the brench of Bengal Congress. After the suspension of civil disobedience, he followed his political teacher, C. R. Das, and acceded to the Swaraj Party, where he was until his imprisonment in Burma in 1924. Though Bose came back from the internation after three years of being seriuos ill; immediately he started to work for a socialist group of INC. He enforced with Nehru the idea of Puma Swaraj, i. e. full independence. Gandhi weakened leftists on Lahore congress in 1929, where he gained Nehru on his side. In the end of the 1920s, Bose became a leader of Bengal Congress. The provincial organisation, however, was deeply divided; the split was overcame after death of main rival Sengupta. The Government of Calcutta suspected Subhas had a connection with extreme left radicals; therefore, it imprisoned him in 1933 and forced him to emigrate to Europe. Bose used his stay in Europe for getting support of intelectual and political elites for Indian independence. ln 1936 he came back to India, where he was jailed again. Gandhi was...

Political and economical development of selected COMECON countries in the seventies and eighties
Szobi, Pavel ; Stellner, František (advisor) ; Jakubec, Ivan (referee)
The Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (Comecon) was an organization which was founded much more because of political than economic reasons. During the first years of its existence it was a soviet power instrument to control the economics of the Eastern Europe and later it became a middle o so called socialist economic integration. The most important part in it played the German Democratic Republic and Czechoslovakia, countries with the best developed industry in the soviet bloc. Their economies supported less developed allied countries and lastly also the Third world countries which assumed the idea of communism. Often comparisons of the Comecon to the West European integration caused that the Eastern bloc tried to establish cooperation with the European Economic Community and to imitate its success. But an analysis has shown the pointlessness of these attempts. The Eastern bloc wasn't able to reform its institution for an economic integration and the downfall of totalitarian regimes automatically leaded to the Comecon decline.

Karolina Svetla's works in the discourse of literary critic of the second half of the nineteenth century (ways to read national literature)
Říha, Ivo ; Šmahelová, Hana (advisor) ; Vaněk, Václav (referee) ; Merhaut, Luboš (referee)
The presented thesis interprets works by Karolina Světlá on the background of Czech literary critical discourse in the second half of the nineteenth century. It focuses on the period approaches to the forms and functions of national literature. It is aimed at problems of tasks set on a Czech writer. Karolina Světla's prose raises a question - in what extent such "political order" might have influenced individual writing style. We are interested in the issue of both author's and reader's reflection of patriotic-educational influence on literary output. Such period acceptance of this intention of given kind as a factor that in desirable (but in no manner restricting) way pre-sets the formation of the sense of artwork, is understood as an expression of heritage of early revival idea (belief in a nonsubstitutable power of national literature the task of which is to arouse intellectual life of a nation and to guard its independence and uniqueness is a part of this heritage in the process). It is understood as an expression of movement in myth about a nation raised from the dead - a movement that under the terms of a generally accepted patriotic-educational communication code is shared by both readers and their writer. An answer to the question of how the basic aspects of the discourse of Czech literature then...

Membership in the Communist Party in the 21th Century
Struha, Michal ; Kabele, Jiří (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
In this paper I tried to explain the relation of the basic organization of the Czech and Moravian Communist Party (KSCM) in the town Dubí to its party and to define the member identification on the ground of the heuristic research method and of the position analysis of the KSCM in the Czech political system both in the level of Czech Parliament and in the level of the local government. The idea and program identification with its party, interests and intents to govern their town, and existence of informal social relations in the local party framed the path on the way o f exploration why the current members still remain in the KSCM party although this party is constantly stigmatized. I even attempt to explain the evolution changes of the KSCM party according to its member basis change and its possible results in the next years. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
