The Comical and its Impact in the Texts of Jára Cimrman's Theatre

This bachelor attempts to identify the reasons why Cimrman's drama are so popular for Czech audience. Especially by describing the linguistic practices which both authors Ladislav Smoljak and Zdeněk Svěrák used frequently to achieve comic effect. This bachelor is focused especially on literary part of Cimrman's drama. Theatrical aspect is only used in cases where it directly affects the proper understanding of humor, or to supplement and complement some parts of the analysis. This bachelor deals with a figure of Jára Cimrman, humor of his drama or drama of both authors.
Humor as a marketing tool and its impact on consumer behavior

The bachelor thesis, titled Humor as a marketing tool and its impact on consumer behavior, deals with the use of humor in marketing communication. The main objective of the thesis is to explore the effect of humor in marketing on brand perception and purchase intensions of consumers. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, the consumer is being focused on firstly in order to understand principles of market behavior and factors that influences this behavior. Comprehending that is crucial in order to thoroughly understand the impacts of humor that are described in following parts of the thesis. The next part of the thesis deals with humor from a psychological point of view, it explains what humor is and describes some of the selected theories. The last chapter of the theoretical part connects humor and marketing, explains the principles, the effects, but also the advantages and the disadvantages that this practice deals with. The practical part consists of research that aims to explore the effects and the impacts of humor in marketing on the perception of promoted brands and the purchase intentions of consumers. Coping of Stress and Life Events in Connection with Sense of Humor and Psychological Well-being

The theoretical part of the thesis mainly deals with the definitions of sense of humor, humor, stress, life events and life satisfaction and presents an overview of the most basic theories related to these topics at the same time. The aim of the work is looking for connection between the three themes. Above all, it shows the positive impact of sense of humor to cope with stress and life events. What role play a sense of humor in psychotherapy? Can psychotherapy help to improve life satisfaction? As this work was created behind the ongoing systemic psychotherapy, corresponds to the mentioned questions also. The research seeks to establish relationships between sense of humor and life satisfaction and consequently their impact on coping stress and life events. The empirical part is based on quantitative data processing, which were obtained by using several questionnaire. The results of quantitative data analysis are supplemented by qualitative observations and insights that explain conclusions of study. Based on the processed data has shown that life satisfaction increases clients during psychotherapy. However the relationship between sense of humor and life satisfaction, as well as their impact on coping stress and life events has not been empirically confirmed. Journalistic approaches in political-satirical TV shows in the USA

1 Abstract This thesis aims to examine the journalistic approaches in three American political satire television shows - The Daily Show, Last Week Tonight and The Late Show. The author searches the common features of the three examined shows, tries to characterize them, and place them into the media context of the United States of America. The author describes to the reader how these shows, through political satire, combine opinion journalism, investigative journalism and humour. Because this thesis deals with American shows, it mostly uses foreign professional literature. This work has two large parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical passage, the author tries to define satire as a genre, mentions its use in politics and the relationship satire plays between journalism and humour. The theoretical part continues with the description of the particular journalistic approaches used in these shows and contains the explanation of the position of the examined shows in regards to the approaches these shows use bordering between investigative journalism and comedic humour. Using Nothing We Want to Change the the World

This work focuses on the evolution of Dada and its manifestation in Czech literature, especially in the twenties of the twentieth century, but, of course, it focuses on later manifestations too. It focuses on the main features of dadaism, like abhor technics, mysticism and rituality, destruction, universality, dada language or humour. Application of dada to czech discourse would be unable, without defining these features. This work focuses on real or potential dadaistic manifestations and theoretical reception in the czech discourse, which is represented by Karel Teige on the side of oppositors and the Devetsil group of Brno on the side of propagators. The last chapter is about the relations between dadaism and carnival culture, that wat theoretically formulated by Bachtin. I focuses especially on identical properties. TV Sitcom Friends: Analysis of character humor strategies based on the violation of Grice's Conversational maxims

Anna Šmilauerová: TV Sitcom Friends: Analysis of character humor strategies based on the violation of Grice's Conversational maxims Abstract The purpose of this diploma thesis is the analysis of the humor strategies employed by the characters of Phoebe and Chandler in the TV Sitcom Friends. The discovered prevailing strategies were then compared with the personalities of the two characters. The data analyzed were the written script of five exemplary episodes from the Season 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9, in which the utterances eliciting laughter from the audience were thoroughly analyzed from the point of Grice's Cooperative Principle: only those utterances were considered in which the characters violated one or more of the conversational maxims (quality, quantity, relation and manner). Phoebe was found to violate most often the maxim of relation, thus it is her being non-factual and non-conventional that constitutes her most entertaining quality. As she develops and grows more mature as a character, the frequency counts of this humor strategy evince a descending tendency. Chandler, on the other hand, is mostly being ironic, violating the maxim of quality. His character also gradually changes but his sense of humor remains the same - ironic throughout the show, as follows from the instances of almost fixed frequency....

Jan Pfeiffer ABSTRACT: The diploma thesis examines different forms of humor through the eyes of selected theorists, artists or myself. It highlights the importance of humor in both life and teaching. Humor is seen as a tool, providing choice. It allows asking questions indirectly, it helps relieving the pressure or stress and develops creativity. It disrupts too serious social structures and thus revives itself. The objective of this thesis to defend the positive impact of humor on society, family, and teaching. I started thinking more about humor when I moved from my family. I missed its humor so much, and I realized, how important factor in life it is. This created an installation that captures family atmosphere, in which humor naturally arises. I reflect my relationship with my family, that has always been my big inspiration. At the very beginning, there were drawings from my diary captured in Prague, from my time when I was away from my home. Subsequently, audios recorded during family lunches. Czech political satire on TV and it's comparation with foreign countries

This thesis deals with the TV political satire. It characterizes the selected audio-visual session of the genre of the Czech and American productions. Programs from the Czech environment were Česká soda, S politiky netančím and Politické harašení aneb S politiky stále netančíme, 168 hodin and Kancelář Blaník. The American programs were The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and The Onion News Network. All these TV programs were initially characterized from formal and content points of view. Karel Poláček, a prose writer, in a contemporary reflection of his novel Men in Offside is a bachelor thesis which is talking about Karel Poláček in context of his prose writings but this thesis is mostly focused on his literary output Men in Offside which was published in 1931. The first part of this thesis is about a prose writings of this author, second part is talking about the novel Men in Offside and the third major part is focused on contemporary literature criticism to this novel. The aim of this thesis is to introduce this author who wrote Men in Offside and who pictured lives of the football fans in the thirties of the twenty century.
