Fairy Tales in French Language Teaching

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of fairy tales in French language teaching. The first part is dedicated to the definition of fairy tales as literary texts and to the presentation of general aspects related to the use of literary forms in foreign language teaching. The subsequent parts are focused exclusively on fairy tales. First of all, the fairytale genre is generally introduced. Afterwards, several ways of the application of fairy tales in French classes are outlined, with regard to the focus on language skills and sub-skills. The practical part includes more subsections, however, it mainly aims at the analysis of the role of fairy tales in French language teaching in the Czech Republic. Therefore, it consists of the analysis of significant French textbooks and of a questionnaire survey aimed at Czech lower secondary and high school teachers. The textbook analysis verifies the presence of fairy tales in didactic materials, whereas the aforementioned survey examines the experience and opinions of foreign language teachers on this issue. Finally, three worksheets, based on recently acquired knowledge, are created to serve as the source of inspiration and motivation for the use of fairy tales in foreign language teaching. Text comprehension in primary school students - oral reading vs listening comprehension

The main aim of the thesis are the mapping the level of understanding narrative text for student of fifth grade primary school with the typical development of reading skills. The thesis deal with the relationship between listening comprehension and reading comprehension. The thesis is traditionally divided into a theoretical and empirical part. The first part of the thesis prestnts the theoretical background research problems of comprehension the text. Attention is focused mainly on the domain of listening comprehension and reading comprehension, including a summary of the current state of knowledge about the relationship between both skills in foreign and Czech studies, as well as the diagnostics of reading and prerequisites that are reflected on the comprehensions the text. In the practical part are conclusions expected on its own research, which was attended by 40 students taught by the analytic-synthetic metod of reading, are compared with the results of the three year research project GAČR - Reading complrehension - typical development and its risks, where attended 59 students of fifth grade primary school taught by the same reading method. In addition to comprehension level will be monitored by level of basic language skills.
The Text Analysis of Cover Letter

This master thesis deals with the text analysis of cover letter in German and with identifying characteristic text structures of this text type. The theoretical part covers the main concepts of text linguistics. Based on the scientific literature are defined the basic outline for the text analysis. The practical part concerns the analysis of the corpus of 30 cover letters written by Czech candidates in compliance with the criteria for job application in supposed language German. After that, the communication context, textual theme, function and text structures significant for this text type are determined. Finally, the results are compared with the set hypotheses.
Worldschooling as an alternative model of education

This thesis's aim is to unite the worldschooling information available, show different educational models in various countries where it would be the easiest to execute for Czech families, suggest an advancement and an example of such education. Further on detect its benefits and weaknesses. The main contribution of the thesis lays in the comparison of the obvious benefits such as unworldliness, overview, or extensive progression in the field of language or geography as well as the negatives of such upbringing such as uprooting, instability or social isolation. Later on the latent advantages and disadvantages shall arise from the research part which will be focused on interviews with families already practising worldschooling. To meet the goals, specialized literature will be used, prevailingly a foreign one, most of all however using naratives. Expressive vocabulary of selected parts of speech in children of preschool age

Abstact This thesis relates to logopedic theme. It is focused on the issue of expressive vocabulary in preschool age. The main goal is an analysis of this area in children with specific language impairment and in intact children. In the research survey the analysis of the expressive vocabulary is carried out by using a test which was created for this intent. The test contains three subtests focused on different parts of speech. These are nouns, verbs and adjectives. With this test the evaluation of a range of expressive vocabulary and quality of expression is possible. The resulting data show that within the quality of expresion there is a greater difference between proband groups than in the range of expressive vocabulary. The thesis also describes in detail the differences in range of expressive vocabulary depending on individual parts of speech and on ways of inquiring about test entries which are different in individual parts of subtests. The research also includes the analysis of influence of a few chosen social aspects on range of expressive vocabulary and on quality of expression. Compared language skills of preschool age with the expected competencies

This dissertation deals with the language skills of the preschool children in comparison with the expected competences. The main aim of this dissertation is to discover the level of the preschool children language skills and to compare them with the expected competences. The additional aim is to ascertain the activities used by the pedagogues to evolve the language skills of the preschool children. The methods of the language skills development, the support of the communication and language skills in the nursery school and the factors influencing language skills are described on the base of the professional literature in the theoretic parts of this dissertation. The proposal of the solution for the pedagogue's work efficiency improvement and preschool children language skills quality improvement is composed on the base of the testing and the survey.

Sociocultural competence in teaching Czech for foreigners

The present thesis tries to approach the issue of foreign language acquisition and foreign language didactics approaches. The main theme of the work is socio-cultural competence in teaching Czech for foreigners. It also states the issue in a broader context. Following is a detailed analysis of that term and its definition in a social frame of reference levels for Czech A1. The main part comprises of individually assessed five selected textbooks of Czech for foreigners. The analysis is carried out based on own criteria which have been determined in accordance with the required components of the socio-cultural competencies according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and J. Průcha methodologies. In the final part of the thesis is made mutual comparison of books with regard to the extent of helping to deepen and develop the student's knowledge in terms of socio-cultural competence.
